My point is that this debate doesn't even make sense because the lore doesn't care. DNA are souls are data, but "souls" have no significance if you can just copy them.

And for that matter, I always treated the biometals as being derived from the respective robots, not containing their "souls". They only incidentally retain some aspect of their memory/personality because based on in-game lore it's probably written into any data fragment Ciel uses to make the biometals.

I'm saying that it should be plenty of indication that they're just based off data. People go "oh yeah its actually X and Zero" a lot, despite it really not being X or Zero, but basically just copies. Imagine Copy X but with testing that the original X had.

I don't even want to get into this given I've already made clear I don't think the lore cares about internal consistency. But wouldn't Zero the far better argument for that? Zero literally exploded in space (don't give me shit about a helmet). X you could at least make the argument that his body is still mostly intact at the end of Z2.

The difference is that X literally fades into nothing at the end of Zero 3. I'm not saying Zero is somehow alive or intact enough either though.
I'm essentially saying, the biometal are small copy's like Copy X, aka their own person, but with moral testing and with a failsafe of being useless on their own in case one ended up like Copy X, aka insane.

Thats most likely the case. Presumably the Biometal from Ciel have the ability to affect each other in some way. Honestly what Model Z does at the end of ZXA is strange and almost feels like its just there for Aile/Vent to lose Model Z and make a new game about finding him or something. Is it like a "last resort" failsafe built into the Ciel biometal to stop other ones in case they turn evil later down the line, or something else? Is it a failsafe specifically in Model Z, or does Model X share it?

Evil being some vague energy from outer space doesn't do the overall story much good, so I just treat it as an one-off incident. For all intents and purposes Duo is still probably out there somewhere, and apparently didn't come down to give the virus a bonk on the noggin. I prefer how that whole thing was handled in Ariga's Gigamix manga.

hell even back when i was a kid i was just lucky to get mega man IV for my gameboy before getting pokeyman by the time X4 came out we were already a relatively small fanbase and capcom releasing games yearly did burn out a lot of people like remember how Zero 2 came out at the same time as X7, a bunch of nerdy otaku kids can only afford one game and it's obvious which one sold better, the moment one mega man really flops shit starts to crumble we just weren't a big enough fanbase to keep up with it

It's not like it has to be that uncreative, there could be abandoned or repurposed facilities to explore as well as whatever larger scale things Neo Arcadia throws at Zero and maybe some groups of non-maverick reploids who make a living out in the hell somehow as well as maybe some maverick group who have lost all sense of believing there's good in the world so they just act out as violently as they like and do what they want, as well as energy shortage playing into things.

I think it would be an alright way to expand on Zero realizing that the only time he feels real meaning in the fighting is with the resistance, like the opening crawl mentions.
