You played a shitgame, kingmaker is the closest thing we have to 3.5 and Baldurs Gate just don’t expect to romance everyone like a shitgame that relies on that to sell like any BioWare game.

I don´t know. I like both but for different reasons. I like how in kingmaker your actions seem to have actual consequences. NPCs die or join you or whatever and the kingdom building mechanic let´s you make some manner of changes in the map (though i would like to be able to build a more personalized kingdom truth be told). Also i like how weather can affect stuff like visibility or mobility (and i think it even affects stuff like lighting and fire spells, not sure)

On the other hand Divinity had some good ideas... like you could distract NPC talking to them while using another to rob them, poison potions, craft stuff like boots with nails to avoid slippery surfaces and use both elements in the map and verticality to adquire a tactical advantage. I also liked that both multiplayer modes and that they went out of their way to let you create your own maps and adventures.

I know what you mean but it feels a little unfair to criticize PoE for it's shit romances when every romance in Kingmaker is also shit besides the twins.

That doesn't really matter at all though since +5's start showing up right after that and the +4 generics are vendor trash in comparison.

Is the ring of recklessness or whatever good? I mean, i like the +4 to charisma and other stuff but it has a -10 to traps and a -4 or -2 to will saves.

I can't remember what else it gave but for 4 Cha I wouldn't use it. Better ways to get that Cha without losing that much to Will. Traps are irrelevant as long as there's another skillmonkey in your party.

It’s no masterpiece.
HOWEVER, unlike pretty much every other Kickstarter CRPG it actually managed to be pretty good in the end.
Poor reviews thanks to bugs that eventually got fixed and shitters getting filtered.

Paypall and late backers count towards it too, it's guaranteed.

And I really like that they're leaving this as the final one, it means things feel complete, there's nothing left dangling that might have been fun.

Also glad the U meme turned up in the end after all the doubters.

The reviews are really shit because it had a super buggy release that's been fixed and some people genuinely lose the last digit on their IQ number when playing this game for some reason and get filtered by the dumbest shit.

It has issues but it's a solid game and something worthy of being recommended to any crpg fan. It had a really rough launch where but they brought it up to snuff with a shit ton of patching. It also has a learning curve so a lot of people just got pissed when the game took a dump on them for not understanding the mechanics.

It´s being shilled right now because of the campaing of the new game though i consider it good regardless. It gets a lot of stuff right, like it allows for a LOT of cool classes to build prettty interesting characters, weather affects terrain, kingdom building actually affects the kingdom, battles are fun and some times challenging, it has great party banter and dynamics and so on.

Granted some times your mistakes only become obvious hours and even chapters later and granted some stuff is not really properly explained (at all) which might be frustrating at times but this lack of hand holding can be a good thing too.

He's not that bad, depends on your setup though. My first playthrough I beat him without much trouble, my second took a few attempts.

All your buffs get dispelled which sucks, so don't build relying on having buffs available.

It's amazing though, easily the best BG2-like since BG2.

Let's face it, P:K was NOT a good game. It was repetitive broken low budget jank. And yet the situation with RPGs is so bad that WotR is the only RPG I'm looking forward to atm because it at least has that Infinity Engine feel without rubbish trendy additions.

I think it also gives +4 to trickery and stealth and - 4 to perception and wisdom but yeah, the negative impact on will seems too rich for my blood too. I´ll probably still keep it because you never know when you´ll find some other item that could counter the negative effects.

Of the CRPG "renaissance" it's tied with Divinity 2 as the best game.

Why does everyone hate Valerie? She is a hell of a tank once you get the heart of ira necklace. Kills mobs effortlessly and any critter unlunky enough to try to flank her and escape her zone gets wrecked by the party waiting outside.

It really needs an encyclopedia.

It does an amazing job explaining to you exactly how any roll result was calculated, so there's no confusion and they show all the information you need about any given enemy... but then they literally never explain what any of the terms mean. If you don't play Pathfinder you'll never know what a CMB is, and there's nothing that explains that in any of the tooltips that mention it. I legitimately don't think there's anyway to know you need Cold Iron to kill the Crag Linnorn except for the loading tip that mentions it.

Similarly, I've played through the game twice now, and I still have no idea how those armour gauntlets work. I just slap them on and see if my AC moves, and generally it doesn't. I guess they're a replacement to normal armour and do nothing if your normal armour is more protective? There's nothing saying how things like that stack.

She's perfectly fine, especially if you take the Stalwart Defender prestige class on her. People just don't like having a tank-tank in their party and would rather she do damage instead/as well.

Like, this encyclopedia, that is ingame, that you can access at any moment, literally couldn't go more in depth about every fucking thing.

Just look at how much flavor text it gave on linnorms despite the fact that there's ONE in the game and the only thing you really need to know about it is the cold iron thing.

The gap between a +4 and +5 weapon is very small considering how big stats are at that point in the game. Yeah one is objectively better but when you already have a +27 to hit its not a major difference.

Have you actually tried to use that Bestiary though? It's just descriptions of the monsters from the manual, it doesn't have stats or a breakdown of important information or anything. It's interesting b-but not useful.

Someone who doesn't play Pathfinder wouldn't know that Trolls have low will saves and Fey have low fortitude saves. You could maybe Infer the former, but you're very unlikely to know the latter.

And then the game talks about how this spell or ability affects this or that category of enemies, but never explains what that category of enemies ARE. Choosing a favored enemy for a ranger for example, are Trolls humanoids? Are they large monsters? I forget the exact categories, but I remember being confused as to which ones were what.

It was the same in BG where spells would say "Effects enemies up to 4Hit Dice" but would never explain what enemies that actually covered.

Yeah, because you need to see the monster and pass a lore check to actually see it's stats. If it was in the encyclopedia that check would be useless and redundant.
