V3 left too many questions unanswered, like how almost everything Tsumugi says near the end is a lie, and we know that because we can go back through the game and literally see she was lying. But there was also a LOT of hints that she wasn't if you replay the game. Also:

I played all 3 in order around the time 3 came out. 2 was the best one imo.

Given the way V3 ended I don't think you could do a simple Deadly School Life plot again unless you reboot. I think one way they could do 4 would be that they somehow lost the footage from one of the previous games (not the three that we've actually seen mind you) and so they have to work backwards to figure out both who died in each chapter but also who survived/won the game in the end.

Nobody talks about the rest of the game because none of it is memorable at all except chapter 3 I guess which was funny but not interesting (and it was the second most obvious trial right behind 11037).

The concept has more than enough merit for a persistent series. Why would it need to end? Murder mysteries with dwindling casts and class trials full of minigames are the shit. The writing was the major part that sucked and that problem solved itself since the main writer left the studio after the latest game.

people will think it's bait, but danganronpa had unironically one of the best endings to a video game series of all time. generally they don't properly end because the sequels didn't happen due to bad sales, or if the sales are good you just get endless sequels with non-conclusions to keep the money going. DR ended on a fantastic note, that's really the best you could ask for.

I agree leaving some things to the imagination is a good thing, but I feel like there were too many questions unanswered for them not to be basically hinting at a sequal of sorts. I would be just as fine with this being the end of Dangan, however.
