Super Metroid is incredible.

Beat Super Metroid for the first time last week after starting it as a kid but never finishing. Was really good, though Ridley felt more like a final boss than Mother Brain in terms of difficulty.
Also been playing the Prime games with Primehack and they're fun.

But in my opinion, this is dumb and we could do something cool with Samus: Turns out the Chozo genetic stuff isn't exactly stable after all the X parasites and Phazon use. And now Samus's body is literally breaking down at the seams. The first time she removes her helmet in the game, she looks normal. Later, she looks a little more gaunt. By the end of the game, her hair has fallen out and she needs to keep the Power Suit on in order to stay alive.

Planning on playing metroid prime 1 on hard soon. Kinda dreading the phazon mines and omega pirate fights. Allso im expecting nintendo to announce a new metroid game soon. If its made by mercurysteam im not rly sure if its gonna be good or not

I'm a bit of a metroidlet. Never touched the series much but have always been drawn to Samus because she's cool as fuck, maining her in Smash for years. Since I lost my gamecube growing up, on which I only ever made it halfway through Prime, I haven't had access to any other metroid titles until now. I beat Prime 1 finally and it immediately became one of my favourite games ever. I fell in love with the atmosphere, explorarion, how well the world was put together. There are few other games that captured me in the same way. The world felt so alien and alive, despite age making all the strings holding everything up clear to me, I was able to just let those moment to moment feelings of curiosity, struggle and triumph overtake it all and immerse me in it completely. I played it for a week straight, grabbing every last pickup, upgrade and bits of lore that I could find. The world and its corruption spawning from Prime and the way the Chozo reacted and tried to fight it really intrigued me.
Started Prime 2 and was really disappointed, honestly. Might go back at some point but for now through emulators I'm going back to Super Metroid, then to ZM and onwards. I really dig the series, kind of kicking myself for not finding a way to get into it sooner.

One thing I love about Metroid, is that it's still a series that unnerves me to this day.

Metroid Fusion fucking scared me as a child and I was only able to finish it years later, and even now Metroid 2 still freak me out.

Such a great series, and I love listening to Fusion's OST. Surprisingly perfect for the handheld.

I absolutely hate how the shithead Other M design got into smash after how the Prime trilogy dominated the Metroid Sphere and had NO representation at all. At least there's Meta Ridley in ultimate.

I seriously fear for Metroid Switch. BoTW was such a huge pile of shit, and yet it was lauded everywhere by brainless lambs in love with empty, soulless open world meme grinds. There's no way Nintendo missed that, and given that Metroid was in style very similar to Zelda. Large atmospheric world to explore, I fear it'll suffer the same treatment.

Instead of epic music, we'll get "pling plong" every 5 minutes. Instead of fun weapons and gadgets and builds, we'll get breakable, grindable bullshit that needs constant work. Instead of epic, beautiful and atmospheric levels, we'll get a big fucking 10000 square mile area of absolutely nothing interesting. Instead of truly epic boss fights, we get 4 boring generic squabbles.

Fucking hell. Everything's gone to shit. This is why I like remakes. Because they don't know how to do anything right anymore.

It was a mixture of Super's and Prime. The cartoony proportions are the former's and the LEDs and more metallic finish come from Prime.

Retro pitched an idea that nintendo liked. And they never made a bad game. Shows nintendos trust in them.

The next 2D Metroid is bound to be a mixed bag but I have faith in Prime 4 so long as Retro is in charge now.

You're overreacting to a ludicrous degree. The choices made for BotW were made because they believed it would fit Zelda. You seem to be under the impression that they would make the exact same decisions for Metroid regardless if they would fit.

Ridley fights are the good shit, and honestly what makes the one in SM so cool is that there basically isn't any strategy to it. With Kraid you have to do some platforming shenanigans, Phantoon's a slow as balls bullet hell of sorts, Draygon has multiple neat strategies you can take to beat it, but with Ridley he shows up, there's a moment of silence, and then both of you just go all out guns blazing, all you have to do is unload a bunch of supers and missiles into the fucker, it feels so good.
