Console and PC markets have a minuscule overlap, so the money you get from selling to PC-onlys far outweighs the money lost from the few people who don't buy your console because the games are on PC

Not really. I don't mind all these games coming to PC, because I don't own a PS4 but giving away your exclusive games is one of the most stupid moves I've seen so far.
There's literally no incentive for me to buy a PS4, because if I simply wait for the games a bit longer I get to play them anyway. And most of the time with better graphics on top of that.
Meanwhile I know that if I ever want to play Zelda or Pokemon I'm going to have to buy a Switch or wait for emulation.

You make up a very tiny overlap between console and PC gamers. Most people are either one or the other, so as long as the game isn't on other consoles they don't care/it doesn't affect them

Which is good for them, the margins on the system itself are razor thin and PC players simply fucking aren't going to buy into console internet connection taxes (especially not for a singleplayer game) which is where the real money comes from. Exclusives only matter in terms of market share, and that no longer translates to any kind of meaningful profit.

Not by making games for it but by shoving their marketing conferences full of EXCLUSIVE monologues on literally every game released for the xbone.
anyway, I would say that 3 years of exclusivity is enough. People can still wait 1 year to get a game on another platform, but few people who actually look forward to playing a game can wait 3 whole years just to play it somewhere else. 3 years of exlusivity is a big enough selling point
