Why are you still on Win 7? Most devs don’t even support Win 7 anymore. MS stopped patching it too as of this year.

If "processing" means first batch, then I'm in and happy.

From what I've seen of it on other people's PCs, 10 is both way too simplified and not as customizable as 7, and based on the whole fiasco with MS trying to force everyone to switch over using telemetry processes a couple years back, I don't trust them to not constantly monitor everything I'm doing.

Didn’t yet but I want to later this year. I’m going to leave the country for a couple of months soon so I can’t really do anything until after. I tumbled down a rabbit hole and decided instead of the next console generation I’m finally getting a high end PC, but I’m also going to get high end VR with it.

I also have bad spending habits, but only in bursts. I save a lot of money usually, and then I suddenly don’t save any money and splurge on something for a month or two.

I got a Quest but don't play that much because it's burning my eyeballs after 20 minutes.
It's a problem with me not Quest, but I wish it had contrast/brightness sliders so I could dim that fucking OLED panel a bit

I did last year and I regret it because the controllers drift after a month, when reliable controllers is precisely what I wanted after upgrading from Vive.

So what's the deal with it still being stuck at processing? I've asked this before but got a bunch of different answers. I clicked as soon as it went live but was stuck at shipping due to that error for about 20 minutes.

It does answer your question though. You’re just asking for trouble using an unsupported OS for new hardware/software. Especially stuff that is heavily patched and updated constantly. And frankly if you’re worried about being tracked and monitored you shouldn’t be using the internet or computers at all. Staying Win 7 instead of Win 10 isn’t helping you on that front in any way.

From what I read, it should work most of the time but isn't officially supported.

I got $450 from my tax returns and spent $300 of it on an Odysse+. I'm hyped for Alyx but you need more than one good game, 3 passable games and an ocean of tech demos for me to spend a goddamn thousand on.

Comfort is bearable after I modded it with VR Cover and counterweight.
It's my damn eyes are too sensitive to light after lasik, I even turn down my IPS monitor to 0 contrast for prolonged sessions. Quest is just too damn bright.

If you have $300 to dish out, might as well pick up Rift S, $100 is well worth paying for better controllers, tracking and native software

You should post on Oculus forums about adding brightness settings, it's a shot in the dark but companies are pretty open to accessibility concerns these days and honestly it's silly that these adjustments aren't already standard in VR.
BTW when I use VD to stream off my PC it seems a lot darker than usual

Well if you're really down to a minimum play area and can't move around, if you can stand in place and do a 360 spin with your arms out and not hit anything, you're good.
When you set up your boundaries you can choose from roomscale or standing.
If you're doing room scale I think you want something like 5x7 feet.
You want a sizable rectangle.
