I think almost any genre can be used to make interesting games, its just that the streamlined and bland formulas will dominate the market no matter what.

action/aventure historical sandbox ?
the action part is really bad but most of the time the map of the asscreed are really nice.
I liked the detective part in Unity, it was very basic but the idea of a murder-solving game in a 1792 paris was cool.

fighting games.
In concept they are nice, can work 2vs2, if done right - high skill, nice looking games.
But goddamn, you'll NEVER play against anyone on your skill level.
it's always one guy being waaaay better than the next, so the game ends up being frustrating - which can happen in any genre, but those usually have more depth than a one on one street brawl, so there's ways to mitigate skill differences.

Battle Cats. It's sort of a tower defense thing with an absolute shitload of silly units. Very f2p friendly since its mtx are sucker bait that don't actually help much.

Bloodborne is real, I'll give you that much.

If it's isometric and not a turn based game, then it's a hardcore pass for me, Yas Forumsro. If you can make an action rpg, you can do it in 3D, it gains nothing from isometric perspective, except for connecting with nostalgia fags who played PC games between 1995 and 2004.

As for 2D sidescrollers, I used to play them for free for yeeeears on Newgrounds and on emulators but the hipster indie devs want to monetize this ancient, prehistoric genre all over again because they wanna feel like important game devs without breaking the bank for a real 3D game.

You may want to delay upgrading cat cannon power until you know what you're getting into. It's the only upgrade in the game that also has a negative stat (stronger but slower).
Cat God gives you just ONE free miracle, save it up for a hard boss fight. Never buy his shit otherwise, at least until very late game where you get a discount.
Ninja cat is very strong in Empire of Cats (Act 1), buy him early and rush his upgrades.
Other buy-able special cats are sort of useless except maybe boogie. Don't waste money on them until you're done with most other things.
Not all cats are created equal. Don't spread upgrades evenly since early on you're short on XP. Focus on guys that serve you well instead.
Eventually you'll max everything anyway since late game you earn XP in millions.

Redeem silver tickets immediately, there's no sense saving those up.
Save all golden tickets for the nearest Uberfest/Epicfest event, it happens roughly once a month.
The ONLY time you should spend cat food on gacha is when there's a 100% guaranteed event on 11-draw.
Best set to roll for a newbie is Ultra Souls. Nekoluga and Almighties are not too shabby either.

There are some genres that I'm generally not all that into but nothing I "cant stand". Just about any genre has a game in it that I like but that's because I actually enjoy video games.
