Blank slate protagonist completely killed any potential for memes this game might have had.

I don't particularly like blank slates but I do find people who appear to hate it more than anything else in the world to be extremely autistic.

It was alright. Just like most Platinum games, they just can't make a straight forward game and instead it jumbles all of these ideas without being specifically good at one.

PS4 cultists got insane and started to reviewbomb the game when it came out, it broke Yas Forums for a couple of weeks, there was lots of screaming, crying and shitting due to it being a critically acclaimed game.

Game was fun but felt way too long for a Platinum title, good time waster until DQXI came out.

It's good, but it's just another case of game we can't talk much because the paper thin non voiced MC makes it hard to hype him/her, while we can have DMC or Bayo threads thanks to their MC alone. There's only so much you can talk about when all there is is gameplay.

You'll get them all fully upgraded or next to it eventually anyway.

The go to strategy is pop Speed Star, then switch to Arm and Gravity Storm + Power Charge and then to Axe for Crash Bomb.

They are so good there really no alternative there.

Axe is really OP. Its the strongest with great skills but the only downside is its speed. You can change that with abilities but you miss out on making it even better. Sword's round sword is great too, massive damage/DPS. Arm's punch rush with power charge is stupidly strong and fast too.

Forgettable, not bad. They missed a lot of beats, the story went full retard towards the end, and the gameplay wasn't that engaging, I found myself struggling with the dogshit controls fairly often.

I never found crash bomb to be much good, it feels like 360 axe does way more damage than anything else.

It's good, you can combo attack in to it.
Most of damage is blue shield + big sword combo, biggest damage in game i think, and shield just let you go through with it.

Platinum Games power ranking in terms of gameplay:

MGR > Bayonetta 1 > Astral Chain > Bayonetta 2 > Vanquish > Wonderful 101 > Nier Automata

There are no combos, the most you can do is stuff with your Chain and abilities, but there is no real meat or depth to the gameplay.
