Diablo games with Souls combat, or Souls game with Diablo loot, whichever you prefer.

ninja gaiden minus parkour but with deeper and harder souls-like combat.

Souls with separate levels, more loot, better fights but stupidly low enemy variety.

Describe Nioh without referring to Souls.

A great game with an extremely deep and enjoyable combat system that isn't particularly well balanced so you ultimately get out what you put into it, along with a fun historical story with a few little twists and a ton of famous figures.

Stamina based Ninja Gaiden without parkour with an emphasis on RPG mechanics.

Like a handful of good ok boss fights. The exact same enemies over and over but sometimes differently colored. Shitty loot that only Stockholm Niohfags will unironically defend.

I don't think I've seen anyone unironically defend the diablo loot.

samurai diablo

A game where you'll probably get filtered by the first few bosses

Ninja Souls.

I personally like it more than Souls' system because gear is actual gear with effects instead of just being costumes.
Not even a Diablo fan because I've never played a Diablo game (the only remotely related game I've played is Path of Exile and only played a couple character; never bothered with specialized gear).

Why people see it like the devil is something I will never understand.

I won't defend it but i'm not against it. Some people really enjoy it so w/e, good for them. I like the idea of it I just don't like how in Nioh 1 there was a big grind if you actually wanted to craft unique builds and you could only do those grinds late game

dunno if it counts as defending but I never had an issue with it since it never gets in your way. you just sell/disassemble everything below a certain color and then again sell/disassemble everything above that color that is shit.
hell, the equipment skill system is actually pretty fun and even better in 2 now that they nerfed the generic damage up skills

What's wrong with it?

People always talk about Souls but it feels half Souls half DMC to me.
The focus on weapon types and the variety it gives you is very fun

What're your hopes and fears for the sequel Yas Forums?
>Hopes
More enemy variety
Less rehashed maps
More spirit waifus
>Fears
That William and Saoirse aren't a secret boss, or that they at least make a story/cameo appearance

A decent game with memorable moments. It's mission focused, there's not one open world. The main missions are pretty solid, but the side missions can be pretty meh, especially the ones that are essentially the same level backwards with another objective or some shit. Weapons and equipment are like Diablo, with varying stats, but you'll be selling 99.9% of everything you find, or reduce them into base materials for crafting. There's a lot of weapon types, stances, magic of varying sorts, but most of it is completely useless compared to some completely overpowered ones. You'll probably end up using one stance with maybe 1 or 2 weapon types that just works well in every situation, and some spells, essentially missing out on most everything else but this game is bloated with shit. Nioh is the anti-thesis to Bloodborne, which focused it's gameplay on few items and mechanics, it kind of a mess.

You can automatically win the game by getting the spell that slows enemies down to a crawl. Seriously, much of this game is just based on fast as fuck bosses, and the moment you get this spell, it's like an easier game than a competitive squat competition against a paraplegic preteen with osteoporosis and cerebral palsy. So definitely don't do that, but otherwise it's a fun game.

>with Souls combat
Souls wishes.

It's a fair approximation when compared to Diablo.

>half DMC
Is that really the only action game you can think of? It's nothing like DMC lol. This game is literally made by the same people who made ninja gaiden and it shows.

It's pretty much souls combat with lots of bells and whistles that dramatically improve the experience.

I can't get past the first boss on the ship. I am filtered.

He's pretty hard for a first boss, never attack him from the back and don't get greedy, the spin move lasts a long time and comes out super fast so don't stay close for too long

Never give up on you dreams :)

Stay behind his back, he only has 3 moves that he does when you're behind him, 2 of which are easy to dodge, the 3rd one is a bit tricky but you should be able to just block it but remember your ki recovery is slow when you block so if you don't have you ki filled up all the way when he does that attack don't be a fool and hold guard the entire time until he attacks, let your ki recover then guard when you think the attack is close to hitting.

if you're in front of him he has 3 attacks and the intial attack is always going to be easily dodged the side, you can even just run to the side if you're close enough to him.

When he has the chains broken he becomes much tougher but the same strategy of staying behind him applies, he just recovers faster so you can't punish for as long. The ball throw is very tricky but remember to use low stance dodge since it's faster and you can spam it 2-3 times if you don't have the timing to dodge the attack with just one

>tfw when you unlock secret teahouse and realize you can unlock character skins for PC
>Tachibana Ginchiyo costs 70k glory

Attached: 61118376.jpg (540x400, 123.39K)

the grind seems pretty insane. Maybe i'm missing something but I fought like 20 revs in a mission and all of them gave 90~ glory except for one who randomly gave 200. How the fuck do you grind for this shit?

the levels are definitely harder than sekiros
potions are limited. dont use them so much.

Just join the clan shit, you get 30K+ glory for doing nothing every few days.

I pity the kids that want one of the waifu skins that immediately start grinding glory 100 points at a time only to realize it's more of a timer than a currency.

Keep fighting revs and check back on clan battle weekly for rewards (more glory).

Op, make sure you put some points into magic and ninjutsu, some very useful tools in there that will help you at the beginning.

Nioh is also nothing like ninja gaiden, which is a game that has jumping and no lock on.

It's fun and has great combat, but way too many unecessary mechanics.

you'll get a shitload of glory on later difficulties by donating higher quality stuff, especially the ones with extra rewards

donating to kodama or what?

Honestly I only want to get a girl skin because it's one of the trophies

donating in the clan menu

So is it worth keeping around

Its kind of like Onimusha Dawn of Dreams if you didn’t have a partner outside of co-op play, you unlock more skills as you play and the stats on your gear were randomized.

It's almost similar to Souls/Ninja Gaiden. But the combo and fighting mechanics are much deeper because of the different stances and ki-charging. Pretty interesting story if you like Japanese historical shit.
The diablo style loot can be a bit jarring but the supposed beauty of is it that later you'll be able to make your own batshit insane build.
Also Okatsu is cute as fuck.

It's literally just like ninja gaiden minus the parkour abilities. There is an emphasis on dodging and blocking and reacting to enemies, NG also has magic abilities and ninja skills and all that shit just like Nioh. The only major difference is controls, combos, and like I said, parkour.

Just get summoned. You get like 1k+ per summon, provided you and the host don't die immediately. So only like 70 summons for your desired skin or less. Not too bad of a grind.

Yeah, it is. You should just use whetting stones to max out familiarty and not worry about doing it manually.
Once you unlock divines this feature will be really important because armor gets inheritibles. Then you can inherit traits that certain slots can't get like damage increases onto your boots or firearm damage reduction onto your gauntlets. Allows maximum stacking.

Isn't the cost to inherit shit from low level, low rarity gear to high level gear expensive tho?

yes but you get a shitload of money as you progress and that's the only thing you're ever gonna be spending it on

You might as well say an action game is like any other action game. I was promised ninja gaiden in these threads and I was almost disappointed in nioh, but I ended up liking in as its own game.

user, i'm not completely new dude i'm on wotd, i'm just farming proficiency right now and getting a fuck ton of loot

on wotd you already start getting a shitload of money

I don't recall, didn't think so but it has been a long time since I played.
The only thing I recall ever being expensive is soul matching an item to a higher level, and the cost inflates more depending on what level the item started at and how many times you soul matched.

And even then I think there was the weapon from abyss you could soul match into a weapon to reset its "soul memory" and bring the costs back down to base level.

Action game with RPG elements, diablo loot and stamina based combat

You are thinking of soul matching a low level piece of gear to a higher level. Taking high level shit and matching shit of equal or lesser level for the inheritable is pretty cheap. Leveling shit up is what gets spendy.

Reduce the drop rate by 20-25%, remove white rarity, remove 1 random stat per rarity, make the remaining stats 20-25% more powerful. The Diablo loot is now fixed.

Pretty Japanese waifus

not really, when you want good inheritables you mostly go and farm the revenants people dropped in the back of Spirit Stone Huntress at NG+.

It's not really worth the time it takes to look through your own loot to find the 1 in 1000 with a useful inheritable. Just mass junk it all.

I'll defend it by saying they patched in the tempering system that makes it superfluous (and it's in Nioh 2 unchanged).
Before the abyss (which is the extreme treadmill postgame) the tempering system replaces any grind completely. Even in the abyss it basically bears no resemblance to a real loot game.

Isn't Nioh 2 a prequel? Would be neat to meet William but I'm not sure how that would work narratively. Maybe they could do parallel stories with William's journey in the DLCs or something but I really don't see them doing that in the base game.

Yeah, anything late game you are junking everything and tempering until you unlock the next tier of equipment.

Having repeated bosses doesn't work narratively either but it's in the first game. Also they said the DLC would take place in different eras and based on trailers our character might be immortal and not age/have slower aging so there's no reason to not have us fight wirriam

souls has unique items, spells, and armor as well as valuable resources tucked away in every part of the game
nioh is just big level that you are better off skipping anything that isn't a boss or some kind of elite enemy because all you are going to find if you look hard is some worthless junk and maybe a little nigger or two that you are better off going back for later

>Having repeated bosses
What do you mean? The Samurai you fight you don't actually kill so that makes sense. And a few others you fight in the afterlife or at the shores of afterlife or whatever so while contrived it still works.

If they do have us fight Willaim I don't think it will be part of the story. It'll be like Jin Hayabusa. I can't imagine they'd give us Saoirse tho at least from a story perspective since I don't think spirit division would work on her.

>unique items
Yeah, you mean 10 different straight swords with different scaling and the same shitty movesets. Armor that are all functionally the same with negligible difference in resistances and no unique bonuses. And dont pretend there aren't tons of worthless loot drops like fighting a strong enemy to turn the corner and pick up some consumable, either.

the literal only problem with the loot isn't something 99% of the detractors even engaged in.

Which is that the second you unlock those motherfucking etheral set bonuses in WotW and everything you pick up is complete gutter dogtrash forever

why lie
imagine being this butthurt about armor not doing anything special that you have to make up shit to act like you have a point

Comfy date with Ginchiyo!
