i know literally nothing about this game, any quick rundown on the combat/classes etc? picking it up tomorrow and looking forward to it

and I gotta say, it does sound interesting, especially the "branching" part. But I am a cheap bastard and I will wait for a sale. 50 yuros seems too nuch.

Or is the boxart reversable too? I know you can switch back to the old artstyle in the game, but I'm still bewildered at the decision to get a new artist in the first place. Are modern jrpg gamers really adverse to an older artstyle?

I emulated a translation of langrisser 2 back in the day and remember it had a fantastic story. Super hype.

Man I was excited to buy and day 1 but the more I looked at it the shittier I felt with the trash art. Does anyone know if the story and cast is good?

Dunno who you're talking about, I don't exactly frequent Growlanser threads. I do find it just okay though, even though I've played III and IV before, unlike most who found it really fucking shit.

For the sprites only. Not the feature scenes or the gameplay which is 95% of the game.

Are these a solid way to get into the series? I am hoping they will remake Langrisser 3, 4 and 5, but don't want to support it if it isnt a good representation since I have never played the games.

I too also think the mobage-tier chibi combat scenes are gay, but getting portraits and maps to be classic looking is pretty good in my book.

II is the best game in the series, just get this one. I is not bad too.

They really messed up by not just having the original versions of the games fully selectable.

The old art style and the old backgrounds and BGMs are good features, wish they could've offered different sprites and handled CGs better since there are no CGs for old artwork of course.

Just give me PC ports of the originals, especially the ones never released in English.

Pretty hyped desu, which is weird considering pic related was my first foray with the series. I want to get it on Switch but that means waiting for Amazon to deliver it, and I'm tempted to just buy it off Steam instead

Nagi Ryou. Used to work for the Ar Tonelico games on PS2 but the guy has been hired in recent times for a few remakes including YU-NO and Langrisser despite he's not good actually at redesigning other people's works.

Oh, now wonder his coloring looks familiar.

Not the one with the really distinct style? Because AT stuff looks great while a lot of the Langrisser redesigns there are just blander faced, armor-shrunk, midriffed versions of the originals with less intetesting posing.

It's the same guy. Really weird, since designs in first two Ar Tonelicos were really cool. But it feels like he's half-assing all the remake jobs that he gets.

I guess the real issue is thinking classics like that and Yuno need redesigns in the first place. Always sucks when an old good IP gets revived only for the devs to do everything in their power to make sure it dies again for good this time.
