jesus left is such a goblina
Yeah. Wind Waker.
It also gave me an intense hatred of games involving sailing. I cannot fucking stand it. Which is a shame, since before I played WW, I really liked the idea of exploring the seas.
Up until a certain point every Zelda title published by Nintendo had a level of quality and care that would show in the final product. They may be not to your flavor, they may be focusing on aspects of the series you dislike, but they were all objectively good games.
And then Four Swords Adventures.
They're by and large good games. Even the mediocre ones like WW or SS have redeeming qualities.
I could never finish that one.
I fucking gate Link's awakening """"Remake"""""
It's fucking shit compared to original
same, wind waker. twilight princess had some integrity aside from the wolf shit. Otherwise it's a wash
I actually liked Wind Waker. Twilight Princess was the last Zelda that felt like "Zelda" to me, even if some parts came off as tryhard.
Nothing beats the 1st game
Unironically the soul meme applies here
Right: Soul
Left: Soulless
ok tranny
Skyward Sword is actually objectively bad though.
Not even putting it up to it's own series, the game has very little things that it actually does decently and the only time the game is even remotely good is at the very beginning and at the very end.
Why the fuck do you think it took them almost 7 whole years to release a new 3D Zelda?
I forgot where I heard it from but apparently not even the developers of the game liked what they created and they only made it like that because they thought that it would be a blockbuster appeal to the casual crowd that was playing around with the Wii's motion controls.
I wouldn't call it shit. The extra item buttons are nice, but the art style doesn't work for me and it feels like an unnecessary game.
better than a fucking funko pop
No, the one on the left was drawn for a third party strategy guide. This is the key art for Marin.
Skyward Sword
Left: old Generic Teenage hag
Right: Cute and Funny Chibi Girl
this makes it even worse since this is even better
Truly the old art style was the pinnacle of maturity.
I largely agree with you, but I really liked some of the dungeons in SS. The ship level and the boss with all the arms were great. I agree that pretty much everything aside from the dungeons wasn't great, though.
>there will never be a 90s made Zelda anime with heaps of ecchi that gets cut out in the english dub but then you download a fansubbed release of the uncut Japanese version in the 2000s
>the game has very little things that it actually does decently and the only time the game is even remotely good is at the very beginning and at the very end.
i disagree, the beginning is mostly a cinematic
the game is better during the Lanayru sections, especially because you accumulate more weapons at that point
That would actually make me want to dust off my going into games machine
Literally the altosecond Wind Waker was announced
lol, look at her derp face
Somebody stole mine but im kinda glad as it was taking over my life
Minus the ecchi if you want a good 90s Zelda experience go read the Link's Awakening manga. It never got officially localised but it's pretty much the best Zelda manga short of the Windwaker 4komas. While pretty much every Zelda manga by the usual guys is rushed through at a breakneck pace with stuff like Majora's Mask getting a single volume, this got two volumes to flesh out the plot and characterisation.
Majora's Mask does have a pretty short story though
>Marin and Link
Ending of LA always makes me sad. The no death bonus doesn't really help.
Majora's Mask's plot is short but it's more about the journey than the destination, and the Deku, Goron, and Zora plots are all rushed through given only a few pages each. It has a decent setup to the plot but it needed a lot more time to build up an atmosphere and proper pacing.
Twilight Princess.
That's when Aonuma got lost and truly proved his incompetence.
Yeah, it was me
>When did the Zelda series stopped being great?
You wanna try that again?
>Zelda II
retard.
>lol look at me im so edgy saying the literal second game in the entire series
at least be creative. Skyward sword ruined zelda
Skyward sword has good dungeons, and i liked the swordplay. Really the only things that stood out as bad in SS is how long the tutorial section is at the start, the lack of a proper overworld, and how godawful the "instrument" for the game was.
The combat and dungeons were great, and that's the heart of the series anyway. SS is basically the opposite of BotW. it's good in all the areas BotW is bad, and bad in all the areas BotW is good. if they could combine the two games they'd have something truly special on their hands.
>Thinks comparing artwork means anything
Here is what Zelda has always looked like in-game
Woosh
Same that great open world arcade exploration dungeon crawler formula was never repeated. Malon was hot though.
They look almost nothing like Funko Pops, you retard.
>Games I like
Zelda 1, Zelda 2, A link to the past, Link's Awakening, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Breath of the Wild, Hyrule Warriors
>Games I dislike
Wind Waker, Twilight princess
>Haven't played
Skyward Sword
Also left image is from a german artist for the Link's Awakening guide. Concept art for Link's Awakening is very different.
are you retarded? this is what the OG game looked like. also i like the toy look of the game.
>ignoring the technological limitations of that time that forced them to use that style
Nowadays style is just lazyness.
Electronic SPorts League Thread?
Original key visuals are closer to this. Also, if we're gonna compare "Key art", why not use real key art for Link'a Awakening?
zelda.gamepedia.com
jesus shut up you inbred limp dick retard. i hope you like brown black and grey, cause thats all your going to see.
He can't even compare real key art with each others. What did you expect?
Not an argument.
I actually agree with this.
>key art
That’s not the key art you lying faggot.
its a lot of a hell harder to think of a good art style inted of being lazy and just making your game look "realistic". but then the game just ends up looking ugly and mundane.
Of course is hard, thats why the originals were great and modern ones suck. The originals tried gave a shit worked hard, thats why people still remember them.
you are unironically a retarded boomer if you think zelda i or ii are better than the ds games in any way
>in any way
what about the controls?
>boomer boomer hurr durr
Great contribution.
Not bad taste but link between worlds is still underrated
Its a lot of fun, I just wish it was more inspired.
Would have liked to have seen the overworld be more "inspired" by Link to the Past, it was a little too samey
>I don't like it so it's lazy
Or maybe they like the art style? It fits with the actual game play more than anime characters would to say the least.
Wind Waker derailed the series. Twilight Princess and A Link Between Worlds were the only great new entries since.
personally I'd put Skyward Sword in it's own tiee at below average and that's being very VERY generous.
Can you read? They did make a style, so it wasn't lazy. Making the game realistic would be the lazy route.
It's always been cartoonish and it'll always be cartoonish. Technological limitations didn't make wind waker look like a goddamned chibi SD spinoff. That was entirely on the art team.
compared to the average game, its above average.
Its just held to much higher standards because people expect Zelda games to be really good.
Gotta be honest with ya. I've had more fun with average games than I ever will with skyward sword. Fuck those controls and fuck silent realms
