Word is Sony is actually having trouble not only in production of the PS5 but also it's design. They haven't completely nailed down the PS5 specs, nor have they nailed down the final price point because they keep overshooting their projected price point by a wide margin but every expects it to come out this year and they don't know what to cut to bring costs down.

Ever since Laidlaw left, Sony has completely halted marketing on all of their PS4 exclusives, dropped out of all gaming shows and events, produced too few State of Play rip-offs that don't generate nearly as much hype as their previous marketing tactics and now are impotently faffing about with the PS5 when it's in their best interest to announce the price fast enough to let wagies and parents put aside the money for the holiday season (the average consumer does not like to prep money on short notice).

A bit weird they haven't started already because its launch year. This time last gen Sony had always fully unveiled the ps4 but this time they're moving a bit slow for unknown reasons.

there's only one thing i think the xbox even has over PS anymore and that's how retardedly amazing gamepass is. this MASSIVE list of games from all devs and publishers and all of Microsoft's 1st party shit goes there day 1. I didn't buy Gears 5, I bought fucking gamepass and got Gears 5, the MCC, and dozens of other games.
of course, the REAL reason why it's a still is because I did that for the price of a year of XBL gold + $1. I know plenty who did the full deal for 3 years of XBL + $1. I wouldn't have even blinked in gamepass ultimate's direction had they basically not just given it away for free. Once that time window runs out though, the thing costs like 3x the price of a typical console yearly sub. Still a great value I suppose, but it makes it a lot less appealing, especially since Microsoft still seems to be relying way too goddamn much on Halo and Gears and honestly neither IP has been good since the original developers for their respective franchises flew the coop.

I said this a year ago, and I will keep saying it because I'm god damn right: PS4 will have no retro-compatibility, and basedniggers will swallow it up, and not even that, they will defend it and pretend retro-compatibility is bad. The third most sold game on the platform was an HD release, there's no way Sony will do it.
You can put that shit on the XboxSex list of advantages: Retro-compatibility. At the least the Xbox is confirmed to have it, from OG to One.

Couple months ago there were rumors that Sony were having internal struggles within their leadership. Was kinda confirmed with Shawn Layden "stepping down". There were also rumors that Sony started immediately working on a 2nd more powerful Dev kit after the Series X reveal.

PS5 will have back compat, but only for PS4 games.
XSX will have back compat, but it will only work as well as the Xbone does. So it will have significant gaps in its 360 library and huge gaps in its OG Xbox library.
I see MS taking ground and beating Sony again in key markets like America and UK. The market only cares for FIFA and COD and having a console that is the same price as the PS5 but more powerful will be a massive difference.
Also game pass being a major thing for MS means people will get a massive library of games they will never play otherwise, which Sony doesn't have.

A weaker console for a higher price makes no sense, which is why the early Xbone suffered. But apart from that, it doesn't matter. The PS4 Pro and Xbone X sold relatively weakly because most people just aren't interested.
Yes, that is my prediction. But I don't think the library will be greater, at least at first. The 360 & OG Xbox library which is playable on Xbone has some important gaps and I think the same will be true on XSX.

So no, the gaps that might happen are the same you have right now. The XboxSex effectively makes the XBone and XBoneX obsolete, as it runs it's games, have the same retro-compatibility, and also run newer ones.
About PS5 retro-compatibility, once again I say this: Not gonna happen, and you are taking suppositions out of your ass. They made TOO MUCH MONEY with HD releases, nobody would be able to convince the suits to do it, in their heads this is like letting go of the prospect of free cash by just re-releasing God of War for the second time, TLOU for the third, God of War 2 for the 4th, and so on.
