Being relevant to speedrunning proves their legitimacy outright. Speedruns involve learning how to make full use of the tools of the game and knowing when to use what generally has the most noticeable effect of vastly increasing your efficiency and damage output, one of the main indicators of your skill level and is what leads to killing enemies much more efficiently.

No shit retard, you can also beat any Mega Man game with the Buster only or any DMC with the basic Alastor/Rebellion 3 hit string. Necessary =/= useful, conflating the two outs you as a complete casual.

1) Non-Lv.1 is for babies.
2) Gameplay depth is always relevant. Whether you're on Lv.99 Beginner or Lv.1 Crit, players who utilize a wider range of options will always have an advantage. Magnet into Thunder or a Limit is almost always way safer, stronger, and faster than the X button against mobs.

You'd be missing out on entire attacks. You don't lose access to any major options at Lv.1 2FM because they're gained through the story/growth abilities and it mostly serves to increase the damage you take while removing crutches (which is what higher difficulties in action games do).

Also, ignoring items entirely IS considered the standard in DMC. They trivialize the game to the point where you can win every fight through a pause menu, which is far worse than anything grinding can accomplish in KH.

You won't be hitting that damage during normal gameplay.
By that logic, every game has a damage cap, defined by the greatest number the engine can handle.
It's only an issue when it actually hinders the gameplay, like if you hit damage cap too often, like in FFT for example.

I think it has more to do with the decline of Final Fantasy itself, which was THE JRPG series in the west, the benchmark to which all others were compared. Now even Square-Enix has given up and turned the two most recent FF games into action RPGs.
