I only played this game until the alien shows up. Does it get better or is it just hiding for the rest of the game ?
Love the art style.

>Ayylmao ignores them
Fucking sinister.

>Does it get better or is it just hiding for the rest of the game
I would say the middle third of the game is the peak. Also it's still a lot of hiding but you get a couple of guns and plenty of ammo for them, so as it goes on, you get into more straight up fights with working joes and other survivors, and you get a flamethrower that can make the Alien keep its distance unless you overuse it and he eventually stops being afraid of it. If you feel like you're hiding too much my advice is slow the fuck down and stop running everywhere. If you walk and keep your noise down, the ayy usually only comes out to play once in a while.

if you haven't played this in vr you haven't lived

aliens can only see pheromones and basic androids dont give off any

I've pulled it up on my rift and looks fantastic but playing with a controller felt awkward. Has anyone made any mods that use motion control yet?

You don’t really need to hide too much the alien adapts to that once he’s a certain distance away you can just walk(DONT RUN) away safely

they still will engage a synth if they feel threatened by it. the combat synths in AVP games are enemies for them. I think the reasons they don't attack the working joes are 1. because they can't use them for their reproductive process and 2. the joes don't engage them because preserving the specimen is top priority.

Thank you for the advice. i'll give this game another go then in VR.

I just finished playing this on the Switch. Shit was dope as fuck, I really enjoyed the gameplay.

Wasn't a fan of the DLC though. It was more like a demo, or concept than actual content, because it lasted like... 30 minutes max.

the retarded troll guys are legit the best written part of this series
it's like they build the encounters with them, then hacked together a main quest to go with it using its mechanics

I forgot just how gorgeous this game looks.

Because the main story in the trilogy is very unoriginal even within its own franchise.
TW1 is Young Ciri except now she's a boy whose older self time traveled back to start a religious cult.
TW2 is an excuse to parade around a bunch of names you may or may not know from the books.
TW3 doesn't even make sense. Emhyr decided to let Ciri live her own life and resorted to marrying the body double, yet comes back wanting to steal her away again and arrange a political marriage for her instead of pumping a kid into her himself.
Nilfgaard invading again also makes even less sense because both sides were absolutely exhausted after the Battle of Brenna, and Nilfgaard opted for economically dominating the north instead of conquering it.

Easily the prettiest game made the year it came out, and also easily the closest a game adaptation has ever come aesthetically to its source material.

Attached: AI-1.jpg (1920x1080, 149.84K)

the androids are more spoopy than the aliums

>also easily the closest a game adaptation has ever come aesthetically to its source material.
This. Kudos to the bastards who knew what they were doing with the art direction. I feel like playing it again. It's been fucking years since I played it and I'm pretty sure I've forgotten everything. Happens when you have massive backlog you want to go through I guess.

>chromatic aberration: the game
Shame

you do know you can turn that shit off in the options menu, right?

Attached: chihuahua.jpg (523x512, 60.59K)

the alien always spawns somewhere near you, it never actually roams the map

Will we ever get a sequel?

>Chromatic aberration
Why?

Attached: 1578315603213.jpg (721x960, 73.32K)

a combination of 2 and 5 is the best.

I mean, I'm not sure what they could build off of a sequel. I would really fucking love it if they made a non-linear "immersive sim" type game, like System Shock or the new Prey. Coupled with the same aesthetics as Isolation, that shit would make me diamonds.

Stupid scripted, rubberband AI, it was so predictable after a few hours.

It's fairly subdued and meant to evoke the feeling of watching an old copy of the original film. It's overused as fuck by a lot of people but I can't fault this specific use

is the switch port anygood? playing this up at my cabin in my bed would be sweet

It just make my eyes hurt. Just like low FoV makes me sick, but this game needs low FoV to keep you claustrophobic and on edge.

With proper MSAA this game would look amazing.

I don't know why but sometimes prefer chromatic aberration in SOME games.

isolation was the only time i've ever seen it done right. every other game it's just been used like photoshop filter abuse

Just use down-sampling and better AA mod, shit is pristine.

>Alien always knows exactly where you are at all fucking times
This ruins the game. The AI in this game is so transparent.
>B-but there's more than one alien!
Then why do you only ever see one out at a time with the sole exception of the hive bit? And regardless of whether or not it's a different alien, why does it always hone exactly onto wherever you are, and not any of the other 20 rooms in the environment?

I would argue that South Park Stick of Truth did it just as well, if not better. Ironically, it came out the same year.

The Alien does not know where you are, the Director does.

Down-sampling fucks with the UI and the sensitivity and idk of any AA mod. It's probably just some fxaa injector.

Get better alien AI mod it makes the game much better. I got pissed about waiting all the time for the fucker to pass in exact same places.

I know what you're talking about. The game has two AI's for the alien encounter. The director AI and the Alien AI. The director is giving the Alien directions around you to fill an invisible "tension" meter. And will send the Alien away once it decided it was around you long enough. The Alien itself doesn't "know" where you are until you trigger the sight or hearing ability of it.

>Down-sampling fucks with the UI and the sensitivity
Had no issues using DSR x4.0 so 4k downsampled to 1080p
TAA mod, i don't know if it's up to date tho
github.com/aliasIsolation/aliasIsolation/releases

The Switch port is amazing. The only downside was like a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of input lag because of triple buffering.

>This ruins the game. The AI in this game is so transparent.

Um... why are you under the impression that the game you're playing wouldn't know where you are within itself? Did you expect you'd be playing the game, and it would drop the alien into a location you were in like 4 levels ago? Or a location you aren't yet at?

The Alien's AI doesn't have to know exactly where you are you retarded imp just because it is as much a part of the game world as you are. Do YOU know exactly where I am? After all, we're both within reality aren't we?
>um...
Go back.

Not him, did you even play the game?
Alien is scripted so hard it gets tiresome really quick.
He just follows your ass.
I guess he just wants piece of that ass.

>The Alien's AI doesn't have to know exactly where you are you retarded imp just because it is as much a part of the game world as you are.

It doesn't know EXACTLY where you are, but of course it is going to be dropped NEAR the same area as you, because the game wouldn't fucking work if the thing you're trying to avoid didn't come near you, you fucking mongoloid.

>>Do YOU know exactly where I am? After all, we're both within reality aren't we?

Are you literally retarded?

what are the pros and cons of using the improved AI mod?

I just finished the game yesterday. Of course the alien is scripted to appear somewhere within your vicinity, the entire premise of the game falls apart if it never lurks around near you.

You could not be a massive pussy

Why did nobody try to seduce the alien? Perhaps it was killing everyone because it was sexually frustrated? Perhaps the juices coming from the vents wasn't from her mouth but from her yearning loins?

Dunno about that but Alien felt more "alive" with mods, without it he just loops until the end of time.

Let me know how that works out for you, user.

Attached: Xeno Baby.jpg (500x540, 74.69K)

Nah, bro. I'm fine.

Honestly, I didn't really notice looping. It drops down, looks around an area, and if it finds nothing, scuttles back into a vent. At that point, I could hear it drop down somewhere else, but I was never overly interested in going to search for it.

If you make sound, you can lure it off to other places, and after investigating the noise, it would eventually move off to search another area.

>wah the red and blue hurty wurty my eyesies :((

If you succeed you get to fuck the alien, if you fail you will forever be known as that guy who tried to fuck an alien and died trying. There are only upsides imo.

There are many sections where he just won't leave, it looks for you until you leave the area or trigger some other switch.
It's both abuse-able and anoying.
But maybe you won't notice it right away or I'm just picky fucker.
