OFFICIAL DEVIL MAY CRY THREAD

How did Capcom manage to deliver on the insane hype for this game? It's honestly unbelievable.

Friendly reminder that the Castlevania anime showrunner is going to be making a DMC anime.

Attached: CASTLVN.png (512x416, 51.01K)

I'm still looking forward to it. Hopefully it'll be better than the DMC anime we currently have.

>How did Capcom manage to deliver on the insane hype for this game?
The director and team actually gives a shit about the franchise and gameplay.
Do you think the code monkeys at Activision-Blizzard or EA actually enjoy pumping out COD games and Fifa year after year nonstop? Didn't think so.

Itsuno made DMC5 awesome because he CHOSE to do so. That's the solution to why so many games are soulless snorefests, devs are essentially chained to their desks just shitting out whatever's profitable instead of what makes a good game.

Amen to that brotha. Preach it.

Not a tall hurdle to overcome.

oh boy I can't wait for Dante and Vergil to get raped by demons permanently ruining all discussion for the series forever

Autismfag dream DMC6 post here we go
>plot takes place 2 years after DMC5. dante and vergil got back from hell offscreen after settling their differences- dante has reopened devil may cry and vergil is off exploring information on particularly powerful devils to take out. main story centers on vergil's discovery of an ancient prophecy held by the demons that the gates of hell will open to the human world and they will consume mankind to transcend to a higher plane of existence. as a solar eclipse approaches, the prophecy comes to pass and hell gates open up throughout the world. dante, vergil, nero and lucia from DMC2 travel across the globe, closing these hell gates in two pairs- a "pitcher" team who kills the demon leading the horde in the human world and a "catcher" team who kills them for real once their spirit returns to hell. these teams switch every time the party changes locations, which is every four missions. for example the first team is pitcher nero/lucia, catcher dante/vergil
>story focuses on developing each character. nero learns what it means to hold onto his responsibility to protect the things he loves, dante finally accepts himself and demonstrates emotional weakness to others, lucia matures into her own devil hunter and asserting her individuality similar to DMC2 and vergil learns the value of others.
>gameplay is heavily based around coop, which is optional and can be turned off. each level is 2 player coop optional, and the final boss is 4 player (as is bloody palace). you can choose who to play as in each mission so long as they're in the actual mission
Continued.

>gameplay is heavily based around coop

Attached: nigga.jpg (250x201, 6.39K)

>dante is basically unchanged aside from some new weapons (cavaliere and cereberus are dropped as are the kalina anns and faust) and some new mechanics revolving around spending resources to buff himself even more than in dmc5, nero now gains breakers from bustering foes in certain states and can switch which ones he has equipped, but they're 1-2 use only, vergil has two new styles (a style focused around percision critical hits with yamato called pointbreaker and a style based around the manipulation of summoned swords called vanguard that's his royal guard analogue), his version of SDT called Burst Devil Trigger is now available and concentration can only be gathered in dark slayer, and lucia's playstyle revolves around marking enemies with feathers and doing different things depending on her style (which there are three: daydreamer debuffs enemies heavily, lightspeed causes her to warp around ala dark slayer, and dominator brings enemies towards her ala the demon whip from DmC).
>coop mechanics are optional. entire game can be played single player. enemies are based off of mythological culture stuff- for example, in the Canada levels, the two enemies introduced are a fast and brutal Wendigo, and a lumbering Bigfoot type. enemies in the egypt levels are a Sphinx and giant Scorpions for example. the gimmick is that the more people are around, the game moves their aggression and intensity up to compensate, with 4 people moving it up a solid 2 difficulty levels (including past the supposed max, with two more difficulty levels past DMD called Everyone Must Die and The World Must Die respectively)
That's my autism out of the way. I hope DMC6 is a thing in any form. Unless it's DmC2

I really wish there was official Bloody Palace implementation in 5.

>which is optional and can be turned off
Nice reading skills nigga

Still I'd rather that DMC remain a focused single-player experience. Diverting resources towards multiplayer would be a bad idea.

Gotta love Itsuno, you can tell he's passionate about his work, especially Dragon's Dogma.

at this point it's the natural evolution of the franchise, as per it's baby steps implementation of 5. I get why that would bother some people but I can't see the franchise evolving in any other way than this.

Look what happened to Resident Evil. Surely you don't want the same to happen to DMC?

I didn't know how much fun coop in this game would be. i'm still mad there's no (official) bloody palace coop.

Re5 was a really fun and well made game and Re6 was a mess of it's own design. Coop Resi in Outbreak was blast to be honest.

Whoever told me V actually got fun and interesting to play on HAH, fuck you.

It's the same bullshit as it ever was, meter management and doing taunts/reading poetry while slapping the attack keys.

The only difference is now you have to be moderately good about launching dead enemies and/or good at your post-checkmate teleport timings so you don't get your shit slapped while you're locked into his 25-second version of Nero's Buster grab animations, and that's not especially interesting.

I'm so tired of this little wiener.

>Another brainlet gets filtered by V

I love it.

Attached: 1583149210033.png (499x499, 122.22K)

how do I git gud at Royal Guard in 3? I just finished Sekiro and thought I might be a bit better at parrying now but I still suck.

How do I get S rank in mission 11 SoS? Is there no other way than getting the no damage bonus?

>filtered
>he's clearly not having any trouble playing as V
You couldn't possibly be any more mad.

Mission 11 is pretty easy to S-rank though.

I dunno, I get all As and the result is still A. I do get hit a couple times in almost every encounter tho(aside from the chaos introduction one).

I feel like DMC has a simple appeal. It should be easy to tell what people always liked about DMC and then just refine that and give them more.

Tameem was too interested in self inserting and trying to make the game "unique" that he missed this and DmC failed.

Maybe try using the Faust hat to no-damage it? It's pretty doable. I did it easily on HaH.

who told you that lol

nothing about this game is fun on H&H, V shines in DMD/SoS

> I get all As and the result is still A
I... is that surprising? If you’re running an average A rank, why would your end rank be better? You can sometimes get a bump from the no continue bonus but you have to be playing HIGH A rank encounters consistently.

will try, hopefully I don't have to cheese it.
I haven't touched it yet but doesn't HaH basically requires you to do a no damage run? It doubles your score so it should be easier to do if you can handle HaH in the first place.
no continues bonus is a 20% increase and it bumped all my average A runs up to S. Only mission 11 is giving me trouble and I heard 18 is outright broken

Pretty close to my idea
>Dante and Vergil left Hell once they got bored enough with it and returned to DMC in time for new demon attacks to pop up all over the world. Places where Dante had fought before (Mallet Island, Fortuna, etc.) are especially hot spots and prioritized.
>No real plot, just DMC hunting demons to pay their bills (because not every job they take has to be end-of-the-world-level disasters). There is a light storyline in figuring out what's causing the demon resurgence, but it's mostly just an excuse to refight familiar and new demon bosses from throughout the series.
>Dante, Vergil, Nero, Trish, Lucia, and Lady are the main playable characters, each with their own weapons and skills. Nico returns as support.
>For the most part, the missions are treated like Monster Hunter: pick one from a menu, search the area and fight through minions, then locate and kill the boss demon as quickly and stylishly as possible.
>Co-op is possible in these missions. Synergy between players is vital in the higher-level demon hunts.

He said that because familiars get one-shot, you actually have to use the combination dodges and pay attention to their position or they’re constantly stalemated.

He neglected to note that as long as Nightmare is on the field your familiars can’t die, so it reverts to being a game of simple meter management, which is exactly what it is on lower difficulties too.

Do you mean Mission 10? That's the one that's really fucking picky about S ranks.

Having tried him out, V is a fun gimmick, but not something one would build a whole game around.

Oh, yeah, mission 10, the flashback one. Sorry for the confusion

10 and 18 are definitely tough.

But remember, “fight rank” doesn’t mean shit, just your running point average. On SoS it’s 5500 Style Points to S rank, meaning you need to end the mission (on no continues) with 4600 Style Points. Usually (with the boss bonus) that means arriving at the boss with 4400 or so.

Unless I’m wrong, 4000 points is enough to A rank (?) so it’s not a guarantee that the bonus bumps you to S.

>Only mission 11 is giving me trouble
Wtf it's the easiest mission to S rank. I got the triple continue penalty on DMD and still got an S rank.

youtube.com/watch?v=OVj4Az3mFw0&t=354s

Use this.

alright, the numbers should help, thank you
meant mission 10, writing from my demented memory

that looks like cheese and I refuse to not have fun while doing my S rank grinding

>first time playing Doom 2016
>tfw miss having Balrog when I'm killing demons very hard

I want Doom 2016/DMC5 crossover

I always feel so dirty when I use any of Faust's moves that cost anything, I didn't pay for any of the red orbs, but it feels like pay to win still.

Are there any mods to make the slow mo zoom in FUCK YOU always happen when you play the final boss?

I feel like Faust would be more fun if you could set it up to only let you spend what you’ve earned in a mission. It seems like it was meant to be used this way, building up ammo with set hat and then spending them.

doom guy wouldn't like Dante's demonic heritage

they can bond over eating strawberry parfaits and cuddling with bunnies

The co-op in resident evil 5 was optional too. You either had to find some other fag to play with you, or deal with the hopelessly retarded AI. It can be done well, but it's really easy to just completely fuck the game.

DMC 6 STORY WISHES

- The game should have separate campaigns for its characters, side stepping any issues of jumping back & forth between them (while providing more playable missions for characters)
- Each campaign would have at least 2 playable demon hunters to pick from (only those present in their story).
- All campaigns should have an overarching storyline being somewhat “related” to each other by the END of their stories.
- However, it would be preferable to keep them as separate as possible to avoid overlap.
- Takes place only a few months to a year after 5.
- Each campaign should contain regarding missions: Solo (DH specific), Solo (choice), Co-op (Optional Online/AI), Solo Bosses, Co-op Bosses (Optional Ai/Online), Gimmick mission, VS (AI & Co-op)
- Total quantity of missions per campaign unknown? Preferably 15 minimum
- Influence from RE6 Layout

>TL:DR
>Campaign # 1: Nero & Patty (New Summoner) gang are running DMC (Shop/Van) doing odd jobs in a still/newly infested city. Story ramps up with them traveling to different locations to deal with bigger & more difficult jobs. (Fun goofs showing off the mundane part of the job into chaotic mayhem.)
>Campaign # 2: Lady & Trish travel across the world to exterminate a cult (Morrisons big gig) attempting to do a big bad with hell (or/and) a Fortuna City/Mallet Island Situation. (Fun nostalgia baiting into return of horror)
>Campaign # 3: Dante & Vergil take a brake fighting each other for a bit & decide to explore Hell’s different planes. In order to find & kill Mundus permanently. (Brotherly bonding, Weird landscapes into clean angelic look. SMT vibes for deeper planes)

Keep everything in 5 + more, I want it all to stay & none of it gone. KNOW the fun part is figuring out a Lucia campaign + what new DH play style should be added.

i dont understand why people want patty so much
she was really fucking annoying in the anime

Whenever a licensed anime is made, an annoying audience surrogate always seems to get thrown in for no reason beyond giving Japanese kids someone to latch on to.

that doesnt explain why people want her in newer game entries

I've got a hot take:
I'd be fine if DMC6 has no playable Dante or Vergil and focuses on Nero and/or some new character. Maybe a proper Trish+Lady game or Nero's kids or smth. I feel like the sons of Sparda got a proper send off in 5 and milking them even further would devalue previous games.

It doesn't have to be Patty but she's a existing character in the franchise whose magical background & comparatively weaker status to everyone else makes her a good fit as a new Summoner replacement for the playstyle. For example:
>Reason: While visiting the DMC Shop looking for Dante, Patty stumbles past V’s book that Nero had kept hidden. She fiddles around with the book & accidentally summons V’s original demons & like that she has control over them.

Attached: 1555364830990.png (600x800, 315.89K)

The whole point of 5 was to bring back Vergil specifically so he could be put into newer games. Sparda's boys aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

Try it on Vergil 3

did i actually read this
this sounds awful

Gotta disagree with you it would be a more enjoyable experience + better product having more playable characters to swap through in a single title (Assuming they all get a respectable amount of work done on them) Having the games separate would be inferior with less options

RG in 3 has a ridiculously tight window (IIRC its 3 frames) which is the same as the parry in 3rd strike so i recommend you use jump/roll guarding since its much safer and easier to time for newbies

Attached: 1579876535342.jpg (720x510, 41.22K)

I hope it's DmC. He would be perfect for it.

the same reason a lot of people here will always pick the most "obscure" game in any series as their favorite
liking something that not many people know or care about lets you pretend that you know some big secret about the series while not actually having to dig deep, AND you could get called based by the cool kids on fucking Yas Forums who have also heard of that thing

Well that is the only game the producer actually knows... which is sadly better then the 0% when it comes to castlevania.

There are some good ideas here.

>the 0% when it comes to castlevania
That was the writer. Presumably a DMC show would still be supervised by Bingo like the old anime was.

Nero and Vergil working together will defiantly happen because we're already done with Dante and Vergils relationship so I bet they will focus on them for the next game. V and Nero didn't count because they barely interacted with each other anyways.

Attached: 1567379511302.png (508x504, 353.49K)

Don't get me wrong, I love Dante's playstyle and was actually very miffed when I booted up DMC4 for the first time and had to play as Nero. But I chilled out when the game switched to Dante and on subsequent playthoughs I realized that Nero was a good addition and shown that DMC is not just "Dante's game".
On one hand more playable characters is more enjoyable and new ones save the game from stagnation, on the other it's hard to balance a single game against multiple different playstyles and I fear Dante's inclusion would be limiting and feel like pandering.

It seems the JCE patch for DMC5 playable Vergil mod is about to be released.

it fixes it?

Now all we need is a Doppelganger patch, and then Capcom updating the game just so those patches don't work anymore.

Saw a teaser from the guy who did the Summoned Swords patch, probably yeah.

Why did noone here tell me how fuckin fun royalguard is? I just spent like an hour, learning it for the first time fighting vergil and shit i feel like replaying all dmc games with royalguard

Fan theory: Black Morrison was a result of White Morrison getting split with the Yamato. The other half will be the villain of 6.

DMC is always going to be Dante's game, one way or another.

it peaks in 5 honestly

Can someone explain to me the details of the lock-on priority system in 5? When you hold LO what chooses what enemy you target? What chooses what enemy you swap to in a crowd when you press L3? It all feels borderline random.

>dropping the two best weapons
