If you don't lock onto him be becomes a fucking breeze of a boss. It's not hard at that point, it's just tedious because he has a ton of health.

He didn't cause the world to end. The world was already in the process of ending. All Gael did was charge across it murdering everything that had a shred of humanity in pursuit of his goal, which was to reassemble the Dark Soul for the Painter Girl.

He is the best dragon boss in any from software game though.

Yes the title of “chosen undead” could be anyone. Why do you think the Lord of Cinder switches between all the weapon/magic styles when you fight him? Those were all the undead champions before you. So yes they’re all nobodies

the 'chosen undead' is a story that the undead at large tell themselves. the idea is that eventually one of them will fight the malaise that is hollowing and manage to defeat the powers that bind them, namely gwyn and his ilk. anyone could be the chosen undead if they only rise to this task.

"Chosen" as in duped into believing a fake prophecy concocted by Lloyd/Frampt/Gwyndolin, in order to willingfully become a sacrificial lamb for the First Flame.

Presentation-wise he's great but his fight is a bit of a letdown after Friede. Not as good as Midir either. If you can beat Artorias you can beat Gael pretty easily.

It's a retroactive title. Anybody who manages to link the fire must have been the Chosen Undead, ergo, the Chosen Undead is the one who is destined to link the fire.
No, it doesn't make sense, but that's because it's entirely a ruse by Gwyndolin. There's no such thing as a Chosen Undead, it's just humans with the Darksign being tricked into setting themselves on fire forever.

Anybody can set themselves on fire in the kiln, everything else is just a test to make sure that they are strong enough to serve as fuel, else it'd be completely pointless.

All the people who managed to link the flame throughout the ages could have been anybody. Ludleth of Courland was no great and mighty hero, and yet he made it to the Kiln. The Abyss Watchers were just a bunch of lunatics with giant swords, and they all burned as one. Aldrich wasn't even human anymore, and he burned all the same. The truth of it is that ANYBODY can burn. Anybody can link the fire.
