The original menu is so bizarre when you think about it.

Most JRPGs have these bombastic, flashy start-ups, often with a camera panning across one of the in-game locations, and FFVII is... just a sword in a spotlight and two bare options.

They could've probably added a bit more contrast to the ground like actual dirt instead of bluish pavement that blends with the sword, but it's fine. Of all the potential issues the remake will have, this is about as nitpicky as you can get.
