So uhhh

far cry 5 was kinda great?

>good story

>amazing ost
>good characters

what a fuck?

Ubisoft is shit but FC5 was great, yeah. Shame New Dawn was total garbage.

is it supposed to be bad or something?
4 was meh but 5 isn't far off being as good if not better than 3

>good story

I really liked that they put a lever action in the game, and it's actually good

Based

it was pretty good yes

A stopped clock is right twice a day really describes Ubisoft

I think the Far Cry games have a director or some shit so they can put out something resembling a game unlike the rest of their catalog

>joseph sneed
what the chuck?

Amazingly it was good considering it's Ubisoft and they get to make one passable game every few years

I thought it was garbage desu.

>good story

kind of generic but not bad. Don't come to Yas Forums for realistic opinions.

I really liked it. Its Montana setting was great.

This desu

I'm a /k/ommando and Far Cry 5 has my seal of approval.
select fire, different ammo types, and most weapons named and modeled correctly.
best sandbox game I've played in a long time, I love just walking around the map from point A to point B going Vietnamese Farmer on squads of peggies.

3 and 5 are great, the rest are shit. I don't really know why since they're all basically the same game.

Story was ass. And it forcibly pulling you out of free roam and teleporting you into missions at random is one of the worst game mechanics there's ever been.

Anyone who really enjoyed 5, could you tell me if New Dawn is worth getting? I've almost bought it several times, but Far Cry is really hit-or-miss, in my opinion.

Attached: farcrynewdawn.jpg (460x215, 69.89K)

The story missions had no level design besides the bunkers. Far cry 3 blew it out of the water in that regard. 5 was still fun though

It's worth it for like 10 dollars, the story missions are fun until the final two and helicopter man's side missions are all in unique maps.

it's definitely worth a pirate, give it a try

Keep your rifle by your side.

OH BOY YOU DIDN'T WANT TO CAPTURE THAT OUTPOST RIGHT
BLISSSSSSSSSSS TELEPORT
WOW LOOKEE THERE NOW YOU'RE CAPTURED
GOOD
GAMEPLAY

I didn't like in 5 was health was full regen instead of segmented health like the past games.

I recently installed this thing to test out my 2080ti and ive noticed there are zero bullet decals and no damage to vehicles at all besides windows, i get sparks and thats it.

Is this supposed to be happening? Theres no forum posts or anything about it and ive already re-installed once. Are my settings too high? like it can't load in decals at 2x render quality?

Try to pirate. Just la Rage 2, it has no soul. Drop it after 1hs or so.
Ew down
Ew blood
Not even mad, just like EA shit.

>flying at max altitude and speed in a fighter plane
>get tranquillised for the third time to play the minigame

The game looks great but holy fuck were they lazy with everything else

OH JOHN!
BOLD AND BRAVE!

Gameplay was a step down from 4, areas were too wide open. Forced story segments moving the player was cheesy and unfun, everything else was alright though.

It was a fun game, but the story was infuriatingly retarded, and there's no porn of the husky Whitetail lady with the huge ass and thighs.

>Story is nothing special and even kind of retarded at times.
>gameplay is just a retread of far cry 3 again
>lol ost is completely average at best
>faith is the only good character and only because she has a hot voice.

It's okay. 3/5 at the most. I would consider it a step down from the third game.

What's wrong with it?

>Removed awesome healing animations for a full regenerative health bar
Everything else is shit too.

you forgot to add
>microtransactions in a single player game
fuck Ubisoft

The story is ok conceptually; residents taking up arms against a cult threat that suddenly becomes active. The problem is in the details, the execution and the consistency.

>the cult is simultaneously trying to capture people for their post apocalypse plans while they simultaneously go full raider mode mounting heads on pikes
>Bliss is supposedly used to cloud peoples judgement and convert them to the cult, but is barely utilised and inconsistent. Its grown in quantities that make no sense considering they believe the world is ending within weeks and stored for no reason. Meanwhile completely unrelated, they also do the Manchurian Candidate thing with regular torture.
>you're captured on maybe 6 occasions and released in increasing half-arsed circumstances every time despite being responsible for the loss of thousands of cult members lives
>the cult somehow constructs a skyscraper sized statue of their idol and a Hollywood sign for no reason besides having something on the map
>One raid on the resistance HQ in the entire game
>resistance never actually does anything story wise to allow for the rinse and repeat system on outposts which FC must build around every game
>cult HQs and story elements are such a short and tiny part of the game (Mansion isnt even approachable) that it feels like the story is just implied in a non-tangible way

>Far Cry 4
>The crazy guy you're supposed to kill is right all along.
>Far Cry 5
>The even crazier guy you're supposed to arrest and put on trial is also right all along.
Hmmm.

If Ubishit decide to put all recent main quests on hold, put on a Bliss-o-meter or something and throw a shit load of peggies at you then that would be alot more fun.

It was okay.

Like graphics, sound design, all that was really good.

But zero replay value, multiplayer was doa.

Most kino loading screens, especially for the northern part, that one with the wolf drinking from river with the guitar theme.

Clutch!!! Nixon!!!

FC5 is probably the best modern ubisoft game, but it could have been so much better if they try just a little bit harder.

>Mute main character. Absolute fucking garbage. It simply feels dumb, and I hate how you don't even have a name.
>The capture mechanic.... I get it, Vaas capturing you and getting in your face while monologing about how crazy he is was awesome in FC3. It really was. But holy shit, ubisoft really milked that trope until there was not a single drop left here. Not to mention that making the capturing automated (even though the game gives you the impression that you can outrun it) is one of the most dumb game mechanics I've experienced in a long time
>The AI has legitimately not been improved a single bit since FC3. It's just so clunky. So many pathfinding issues, awkward voice line repeating, etc. Its jarring because otherwise the game has great presentation.
>Outposts have simply become too easy to clear imo.

HOWEVER, there's plenty of good stuff

>The Faith Seed region. At least you dont get captured in a classical sense. The cutscenes while you are under the influence of bliss were incredible. Really mesmerizing stuff
>Amazing soundtrack and aesthetics. When there isn't constant explosions and gunfire, it's cozy and warm.
>Despite how overdone the captures are, there is no doubting that the villains do turn in good performances. Ubisoft did a good job with the facial capture too.
>General gameplay is strong. The driving is fun, guns handle well and stealth is pretty decent for an open world game.
>The way you stumble upon side content is unironically amazing, I forgot I didn't even have a minimap because I instinictively started seeking out stuff that looked interesting and lo and behold, there would actually be something there. And talking to random people reveals side missions, activities etc. It feels organic.
>The ending is Kino.

Shame that New Dawn is a thing. It was fucking shit and retroactively made FC5 worse.

The open world is done pretty well. All regions on the map are accessible from the beginning. No unlockable areas or linear progression.

Remember when Yas Forums freaked out thinking you were gonna massacre white christians?

Don't pirate it, it's not updated and depending on your processor it may run like shit. Unless you don't mind a shitty framerate on your rig that should be more than capable.

>good story
>satisfying gameplay
>amazing ost
Sounds like you didnt even play the game

This. They had a gameplay checklist, their overseers said CHECK THESE BOXES, everything followed after that. Ubisoft games all follow the same rigid formula and requirements. FC5 was just the last one before they got REALLY shitty with it, which gave us Division 2 and Ghost Recon. You can still see ghost vestiges of the RPG and micro elements though, and it really hits in New Dawn

It was a generic, formulaic Far Cry and thats it. The mute hero was a garbage idea, they could have recorded at least one type of dialogue for male and female mc's. The setting was comfy, though FC was always put in exotic places, 5 should have been somewhere else.

Primal > [5 3 1] > 4 > 2

This is an objective assessment and you literally can not argue with this unless you're shitposting:

>Mediocre, predictable story that is especially shitty in the boss fight department. Formulaic to the point of insult, you can easily predict exactly what is going to happen and what kind of "Farcry fight" it's going to be because they use the same fucking things every game and it's just dull.
>Uninteresting characters. The zone bosses are cliches and the main villain gets boringly trite at the end with no actual stakes or anything to the game since nothing you do actually matters.
>It looks alright I guess. Basic Ubisoft shit, they're fine at making detailed and realistic open worlds where the repetitive models and copy-paste elements don't stand out too, too hard. At least it's broken up with some kinda decent puzzle sections for collectibles.
>Extremely unsatisfying and limited gun selection that manages to be objectively worse than Farcry 4. Just gives you 1 normal version and 1 special version of every gun and skins and shit you're meant to buy. The special versions aren't even notably better or different.
>The gameplay is just copy-pasted from Farcry 4. It was competent but not compelling there, it's just getting dull here.
>The ending was shit.

This is the facts. There is no debate on this topic.

No it wasn't.

>The cutscenes while you are under the influence of bliss were incredible. Really mesmerizing stuff
They've done this exact same "You get drugged and fight the boss in a drug/dream state which is clearly not real, only to have all the magic illusion/fog/whatever clear away at the end and somehow you just stabbed them despite having shot them ten dozen times in your dream mode" in every game since...Farcry 2. Hell, they do it multiple times in both 4 and 5.

This stupid dream bossfight shit is just dumb and it was maybe interesting the first time but why do they keep hitting this one note so god damned hard like it's the best writing and no one will ever get tired of it? Especially shitty when they do it for the end bosses.

New Dawn was 100% intended as DLC for FC5 as an epilogue, instead they tried to sell 1/3 of the FC5 map with some tweaks and sold it for $60.

Actual garbage considering the FC5 DLC was a tremendous blunder of community mod level content.

After Wildlands shitshow, I was so surprised Ubisoft still managed to make a decent open-world shootan, I end up liking it.
What were they thinking with the expansion though?

>Anyone who really enjoyed 5, could you tell me if New Dawn is worth getting?
I mean, if you're fucking desperate? It's not very good, it's very, very short and it's written like ass. It's basically just more Farcry 5 in a smaller map with some different guns that make very little sense, and the ending is actually a huge Fuck You if you're the kind of person who pays any attention to character or dialogue.

The two sisters are set up to be these horrible, ruthless bloodthirsty killers who ruile their bandit clan through fear and intimidation and do anything they need to for survival because that's he lesson their parents taught them and they had to learn growing up, so they kill tons of innocents and burn down survivor camps and shit, and basically are just big villains. And then literally as they're dying they throw some shit at you about how their lives were so hard and they need eachother and they learned their lesson and shit, because the game for some reason thinks you're going to feel sympathy for these horrible psychopaths right at the very end because their daddy beat them or some shit. It's fucking bad.

Did you still shut them up with a shotgun slug to the face tho?

>terrible story
>satisfying gameplay
>mediocre ost
>terrible characters
I agree, it's a decent 5/10.

You can after they're done monologuing at you, which comes immediately after a long-ass boss fight where they're burning down this non-violent survivor camp and sending waves of bandits with guns at you while trying to murder you and all the innocent people.

At least I think, it's been a while. I think you can. But it's not like it matters. I think the only interesting thing they managed to wrench out of that horrid story was the part at the end where Seed begs you to shoot him and you have the option to not do it. That came close to being a real moment.

>shitty custom voiceless character
>awful ending
>crappy DLC (Vietnam was okay)
>same rinse and repeat checkbox gameplay with same missions
>villains are pretty lame with various degrees of quality
Although Farcry in itself is a fun series so the game is still great and is satisfying to play. I think Farcry 3 is still the pinnacle of the series despite the qte boss fights

I think 4 was pretty good, I actually played through it twice. I really liked the music and the atmosphere of a lot of the zones, I think the art design was really good and I think choosing sides added flavor to what would otherwise be generic gameplay.

I think the only thing it failed to do was really make me feel like the place was an actual country real people lived in because 99.9% of the population were soldiers. The weakest parts were the boss fights.

FC5 removed MG42 and that chink GL. Also handheld GL did dogshit damage. Also silenced MG made other guns irrelevant. Also lots of them are reskins like AK47 and AK-M. Also Nick Rye broke the game. Also fucking drugs again. ALso fucking Hurkshit again.

It's an Ubisoft open world so it was shit. Every future Ubisoft open world is going to be shit. Next question.

I’ll agree Farcry 4’s environment and atmosphere was great. The Himalayas was fucking beautiful and all the colour was amazing. I just think the story isn’t as good as 3

>le christianity is evil
Fuck off pagan just die off already.

I don’t know if you’re an atheist troll or a retarded Christian larper but the game never says Christianity is bad. A cult is the main enemy not Christianity.

The pirated version is stuck at update 2 of 5.

I was surprised how much i enjoyed FC5, hating on every single one since FC3.
I was mostly fucking around, didnt care about story or characters. Gunplay felt good, explosives too.

Will i enjoy FC4? I remember pirating it when it came out and absolutely hated it. Constant animal attacks a screaming NPC on every corner getting killed by every kind of animal. Also i remember gunplay being total shit. Is the 5th one much more polished or its more of the same nad i remember it wrong
