Default controls are based around an auto-roll-pitch for turning instead of full pitch/yaw/roll.
In SWoN, you get access to a slow time and fast time feature, which can make the game run half as fast or twice as fast, even in combat.
Both games (mfw I misspelled Angels) are based around experimental WW2 tech. Expect X guided weapons, Push-props, early jets.
Both games have more arcadey physics, drift is minimal to nonexistent, stalling is unlikely, there's no "realism" mechanics like blacking out, jamming guns, or snapping landing gear.
In SWoN, the fucking Flying Flapjack, not only exists (as Flying Pancake), but flies as fast as the ME262.
tl;dr Easier to get in but less mechanics.

Yeah, more or less like Ace Combat, but auto-roll-pitch instead of pitch/yaw/roll. Games were designed around it so it's quick enough to be viable. Both games can use pitch/yaw/roll though.

I don't know if it's even feasible these days. The casuals want a shitload of content (i.e. War Thunder) and the autists want better simulations (GB, DCS, etc...).
Everything seems to be aircraft centric and not gameplay centric. As long as you have a lot of planes to fly lots of people don't really seem to care what you actually do in them.

1946 is frankly too outdated now, new IL2 has better flight models and DM, not to mention the graphics obviously.
The true patrician choice though is playing Rise of Flight. Also DO NOT USE STEAM for any of these, IL2, DCS, and RoF all have their own downloaders and game launchers that do not require a 3rd fucking party like steam to launch
