290 i5 4460 here, switching to console next gen; its going to be too expensive to even match their power with a new build.
How does it feel that when the new consoles drop that you won't be able to play any new games reasonably well
I won't give a fuck.
The GTX 1060 6GB version is a max settings 1080p champion.
Doubt it. The new consoles will most certainly push 4k, just bringing the resolution down to 1080p should be enough to stay at 60fps.
Fine because I planned on getting a new card for this console generation. How does it feel all your old games won't be playable on your new console?
Based
I have literally that card, however it's not enough at 1440, I think I'll just play RE2 on my other monitor at 1080p.
Toasty CPU desu.
>he doesn't have at least 120hz in 2021
>games confirmed cross gen for at least a year or even more by Microsoft
>Hurrr games arent going to run well on a 1060 past an invisible console barrier
Games are going to run the exact same if theyre still being developed for current gen user
RE3*
I don't care because I'm planning on replacing it when the 3000 series cards come out. Then I can sell the 1060 to some broke kid on craigslist.
What the fuck are you talking about man?
An i5 4460 only just meets my 2700x in single thread, and naturally my 2700x blows it out of the water as a whole. Like four times your total power.
The 2700x I got for $130 NEW..
And your R9 290, well, assuming it doesn't just heatdeath itself in the next few months, it wouldn't be shit for you to buy a 1650 Super and have like an additional 30% performance.
My build is a 2700x, 1660 Super, 1.25 tb of NVME storage, a 500gb SATA ssd, a NH-D15 CPU cooler, a ROG B450-f mobo and a Lancool II case.
I only paid like $590 for this dude. Now granted, my GPU will be pseudo blown out compared to the shit in the next gen consoles, but it was a stepping stone anyway. But my point here is, to outdo your computer by a wide margin would NOT be too pricey
>Then I can sell the 1060 to some broke kid on craigslist.
Based.
Still holding out.
Was planning on upgrading to a 2070S or an AMD equivalent later this year, but will hold out a bit longer since prices will probably rise with decreased productivity due to corona-chan.
Theres only 3 pins holding the fan in
>got 3440x1440@144hz big ass monitor
my 1060 doesn't feel so good anymore bros..
>he fell for the ultrawide meme
Was using an old 770 clunker, just got a new one with a 2060. Skipped the entire 10 series lol.
>3440x1440
>meme
Nah, that's fucking glorious and kino. But it does push the 1060's shit.
The real chads are the RX 570 chads
Real chads use an AMD CPU and an NVIDIA GPU.
Imagine not having a GPU that's been relevant for damn near 6 years now
t. 290 gang
you think you've had it bad. I was using a 660 since 2012.
About to build my first PC, wish me luck!
That wont match next gen though, that would be my objective
Still rocking a 8800 GT i need nothing else.
>Not prebuilt master race
ew
Okay boomer
People like to meme about building their own, but there are unironically some pretty good prebuilts, you just have to look for them.
The one I have, there's only two things they really skimped on: there's only 8gb of RAM, and there's only a half-terabyte SSD (ie there's no HDD in there with it). Both are easily remedied.
Using a GTX 960 but only because I got it for free. I will upgrade but I have to beat at least 100 games before I allow myself to do so. So upgrade never, basically.
How is this for a new build? pcpartpicker.com
Pretty god damn close, man. And on a budget.
Like I said, the GPU is the only area where it will really fail. Otherwise I mean, my CPU isn't as good as a 3700x sure, but the next gen consoles while it will have 8c/16t like a 3700x, it is NOT just gonna be a full power 3700x consumer chip in there. More considerations at play than for that to be the case.
Also you're dumb LOL
You don't need a Gold PSU. Bronze works fine. I guess the rest is OK.
WTF? Aftermarket coolers are cheap. Watercooling is a meme anyway.
Based.
Let him leave. I want poorfags away from my platform
Sitting in the closet after I went up 1000 numbers with the word super next to it
Ok I can bump it down to a bronze 650. It won't matter if I plan to upgrade the graphics card down the road?
AIO water cooling is worth it solely for not having a giant heatsink in your way.
>No giant heatsink, but check out this radiator and tubing
This isn't 2012 anymore towercoolerfag. Step it up.
Go step on your mom
if you game on 1080p it will compete with consoles, 4k is a meme anyways 1440p looks the same at typical distances assuming native res
>ryzen with under 3200 mhz ram
Not him, but as someone with a shit tier pc who played DMC5 at 1080p, it looks like sub 720p thanks to forced TAA, game looks blurry as fuck, they did the same with BF5
Zotac 1060 AMP! Edition here
>tfw i5 6600 and GTX 1060 3gb
Thinking about copping these badboys, pls the other shit:
>Ryzen 3600 boxed
>RX 5700 XT Powercolor Red Dragon
>MSI B450 Tomahawk MAX
rate pls
Prebuilts are often cheaper than buying all the parts separately as they can get the components in bulk
Haha nice memory bandwidth fagets
not in canada
also I wish they would sell decent prebuilts minus graphics cards because I got a new job and dont feel like building one, but I want to just use my 970 while waiting for the 3070. But they all shove at least a 1050 ti in there and charge +350 for it
I'm also using a 960, I thought it could make it until 1060 dropped in price or new cards came out, but it's really showing its age. I guess there's no point in upgrading right now, is there?
4k isn't a meme you fucking idiot. I'm so tired of ignorant bind fags saying this.
1080p to 1440p is a massive jump by itself. Going straight to 2160p is a giant leap.
It's true that 1900p sharpened looks comparable to 2160p, 1080p doesn't come close. Next time your little fingers go to post "meme" stop and think.
>4k isn't a meme you fucking idiot
1440p at 27" looks the same as 4k at 27" unless you fucking squeeze ur eyeball against the screen or something? Same goes for 50" 8 feet away even though there arent any 1440p tv's (well there are fake 4k ones but thats another story)
Imagine laughing about being blind
Apparently Navi's driver's are fixed with the latest version, Tomohawk Max and 3600 are good buys, 3700 out of budget?
>Current Year
>Not having 1070ti minimum
majority of people playing ps4 pro/ xbox one x on 4k tvs thinking they are playing "IN 4K" are blind as well
A lot depends if you sit far away, but on a desktop close monitor? Absolutely it makes a difference.
>1440p at 27" looks the same as 4k at 27" unless you fucking squeeze ur eyeball against the screen or something? Same goes for 50" 8 feet away even though there arent any 1440p tv's (well there are fake 4k ones but thats another story)
Spoken, again, like someone who hasn't seen a 4k monitor. Everything about the image is enhanced including colors, vividness, saturation, details seen while moving, what's rendered via pixel count, etc. It was most clear to me when I was trying to read a billboard in the background of a game and it was so clear while running in 4k but slightly blurry in 1440p.
It's not as pronounced on a 27 inch monitor but it's still very clear. Especially when you go BACK to 1440p after doing 4k for a while. Shit looks blurry.
enjoy getting gimped by drivers
>t. 2060 user
>4k isn't a meme you fucking idiot
I sit on the neighbors roof looking at a 90 degree angle at my window with a 4k.
>BRO YOU HAVENT SEEN A 200 DOLLAR MONITOR
I'll have an XSX :)
>colors, vividness, saturation
lol
>trying to read a billboard in the background of a game and it was so clear while running in 4k but slightly blurry in 1440p
lol, you could read it on 4k because the game was running in slideshow mode
I think 3700(x) is double that of 3600 and it not a big step up from 3600, also not really necessary for a 5700XT, but don't quote me on that
Just wanna play new vidya on 1080p, maybe in future 1440p, nothing more
MEME
Sorry, I didn't realize you guys stuck with 480p. Since 1080p is a meme. Do you use VHS still? If not you're a fuckin memer hahaha
>THAT user DIDN'T EVEN MENTION PRICE
>BUT I AM SO INSECURE I ONLY THINK ABOUT PRICE
>1080p meme
I didn't fall for the 1080p meme. 720p is where it's at. 32 inch monitor, no lag, 120 fps, I'm golden with any setting. Ultra graphics all the way. I was told it's not "technically" true HD but true HD is just made up marketing. You can't actually see the difference.
>Sorry, I didn't realize you guys stuck with 480p. Since 1080p is a meme. Do you use VHS still? If not you're a fuckin memer hahaha
he doesnt get viewing distances and diminishing returns
>Everything about the image is enhanced including colors, vividness, saturation,
>literally just more pixels
based stockholm syndrome bro
fuck that. where my 960 chads at?
>tfw bought the card 5 years ago for $200 and it plays everything smooth at 60 fps
no reason to waste money on upgrades for another few years. all AAA games are designed for consoles anyways. there's no point in upgrading until the middle of next gen
At 1 foot away, there is absolutely a difference in a 4k monitor vs a 1080p monitor.
Grow up.
seething
1. who is 1 foot away from a monitor get some glasses, for talking about "blind" people
2. its about 1440p vs 4k
Better than being a 1080p gamer.
I use Windows XP, 720p.
A 5700 XT will play 1080p 144hz ultra settings just fine, I'd just get a 3700 since new console are probably going to be 8c16t but clocked down a lot iirc.
Why does the 1060 have a more impressive looking fan than 1070?
Scientists already determined 8k is endgame but sure I'll take anonymous Yas Forums users opinions on 4k seriously
It looks great in games and 4K video as the smaller size makes things pin-sharp.
The issue is scaling in Windows. It may not be an issue for you at all as it effects certain programs and basically makes them look like shit
1060 bro here
I'll do you one better, I'm also a win7 bro
maybe for vr
Not everyone has to fall for the latest maymays
