The only thing that went wrong is they stopped making FFT games, the bastards.
Revenant Wings
This reminds me of the time they made a RTS sword of mana game for the DS. God what the fuck were they thinking
They made the games less fun with every installment
They focused more on game-play than story and FF fans hated that.
They were escapist fantasies, they weren't healthy games to play.
Nothing. Fabula Nova Crystallis just took the spotlight due to executive decisions, even though the only good game in that "genealogy" is Type-0.
Nothing. Most of the games in this series were fun as fuck, and made just enough money that Square Enix didn't consider them AAA games to fuck up in a highly upsetting manner. It sits comfortably in its position amongst the strong pantheon of AA-to-B Class SE JRPG Franchises.
Unlike Fabula Nova Crystalis
XII had such a good setting and system, and just outright content
I don't give a fuck about the Empire though
Canceling Fortress
I still play the three tactics games once in a while, their world and gameplay was just so fucking fun
God dammit I want more games set in ivalice.
>type-0
>good
We play the same game?
>The game was meant to be a third-person action game with a heavy emphasis on weapon interaction, evasion and countering, in a vein similar to Dark Souls, Devil May Cry or Dirge of Cerberus -Final Fantasy VII-. A leaked design document shows a number of possible interactions between the player and the enemy, including ways to disarm the foe or take advantage of weaknesses in their weapon or fighting style.
what the HECK
Yes, that should give you an indication where the rest of the series stands.
Soigay Nomura and mentally ill waifufag Kitase shite took over the franchise because normalfags only like shiny gwafwix instead of actual effort in world building, design and good stories.
Final Fantasy is dead.
I mean, its competition was the Lightning saga that had fucking auto battle that could discover and exploit enemy weaknesses, so it was by default the less bad one
Nah, you just have a shit opinion.
XIII-2 and LR want to know your location.
More tactics less FINAL FANTASY ELEVENTEEN THREE THOUSAND AND SEVEN X TWO THREE
FFXII
XII had one of the most troubled developments I've heard about. Lots of infighting in the company, lots of people leaving, lots of executive meddling, it deserved better.
It's a miracle we got a decent enough game.
>kiddified everything
>they outright removed the corpses mechanic in 2
It's like they never understood what made the first game so good.
Reading about how SE went out of the way to basically destroy the development team out of undeserved spite was depressing.
It ended.
>It's a miracle we got a decent enough game.
kek
Fuck off Marche
So whats the best version of FFT? PSP or android?
Besides being obviously rushed, what doesn't make it a good game?
PSP with Prime hack
The problem with 12 is that it doesn't really have a "main" character and, frankly, its just not well done.
FF6 did this same thing and did it very well, even if some characters (Like Mog or Umaro) were just 2d cutouts.
That fixes the slowdown?
Japanese corperate culture lmao
Unironically the best gameplay in the mainline series.
I really like tactics A2 but I always get fucking destroyed on the postgame, not because it's hard, but because the game is so. fucking. slow, it's the slowest rpg I've ever played, any way to speed things up?
Never encountered any slowdowns on the emulator.
It was definitely better than any game from the XIII series aside LR, which is about as good.
I'll never get the hate for T0, outside the terrible ranking system and the less than stellar RTS sections the game was legitimately great
If anything it suffers too hard from the XII syndrome of the main characters being the worst in the cast and only forcefully inserted into the story due to market ezpectations, and even then both Makina and Rem were decent characters all things considered
Not really. FFT games always suffered from being so fucking slow, if anything be glad it's still light years faster than the original.
Try the TOLUCT PSP remake. It's basically a Tactics game but with actually decent game flow.
Just ignore the crafting system entirely if you do play LUCT on the PSP though. It was designed by a deranged lunatic who gets off on the suffering of others.
Gameplaywise when you are in battle and overlying plot, yes, the game is pretty fun. Everything else surround the main cast (minus Rem and edgelord that deserves no name) the game is just a mess. Roaming and exploration is frowned upon unless you use-and-abuse the ever living shit out of the training or actually play the game as intended (which should already be a red flag), and any encouragement to replay the game gets thrown out the window when Rem and EdgeyMcEdgerson are the focus of the game
this. Idk why I love grid based tactical RPGs so much but I need more
Crafting is way overblown anyway. It's entirely unnecessary, even in postgame.
Insisting on sticking to ye olde english translation that nobody fucking likes
>But but it's based on real old english convention
Bullshit. Even if it was, it doesn't matter because nobody wants to read/listen to that shit. It really pisses me the fuck off because it will forever stain any Ivalice game because muh sunken cost fallacy muh sticking to muh guns. Any port of FFT will always have that shitty translation; we will never get a normal, decent translation fan patch withstanding.
It's like they didn't even consider that the only thing that crafting mechanic would do was make people save scum.
You're the first and only person to bitch about that
The weak main cast and the unbalanced combat definitely detracted from an amazing world with boatload of content and flavour text.
Focus was an issue in the plot, the game wanted all characters except Vaan to be the main character, but the suits wanted Vaan and Penelo to be in the forefront. The entire rest of the party play mentor to Vaan and Penelo. Even Larsa plays mentor to Vaan and Penelo.
The combat is deep but only if you want to explore it; most the the game apparently could be beaten by very rudimentary sets of gambits. I wouldn't know. I had some fun setups like Souleater + Hammers and Axes, and setting up If statements for chain buffing was young me's first foray into programming.
they were probably mad that this game would have exposed Fraud-mura on the Action RPG side as well
Preach brother

I'm hoping the game game yoshi p and matsuno are working on will take place in ivalice. maybe between ff12 and fft
Just making sure everyone here is aware that no future game will ever take place in Ivalice.
What's the point of having a bunch of games in a shared world when the games all have fuck all to do with each other?
All tactics ogre games sucked, bad advice
He is a fanboy of his works but the game he is working on is with the guy who wrote Heavensward
>throwing away the best setting of the entire franchise, with a ton of potential and content, over petty spite
Why are the Japanese so pathetic?
They didn't make another ivalice game centered in the ps1 tactics universe.
Ivalice is MMO fodder now so we'll never get another FFT.
No FFTA3
How about War of the Visions.
They wrote out FFT and Vagrant story and then made a bunch of shitty kiddie games (FFT-A/A2) and trash console (FF12).
Only if Luso comes back with another retarded outfit in his promotional artwork.
>gacha
>wrote out
??? It's XIV that is not canon
I've been screeching about mobileshit for over a decade now and I'm not about to stop just because something I might actually have liked as its own game is trapped in this shitty fucking platform reeeeeeee
Wrote out as in not part of the real Ivalice but a book within a book.
