You know Gordon, looking at your weapons salvaged from Combine, I can't help to think they went backwards in terms of weaponry. Back in my day we had autoloaders, automatic shotguns with ammo counters, not to mention those handy Combine Weapon Crafting Stations using English language. I miss those everyday, I've got tons of reisin at my place I can't use anymore.

This isn't new, though, the implication in HL2EP2 and EP3 is that Gman has essentially been grooming Alyx for years for whatever reason. There's a reason he's the one who saved her from Black Mesa and there's a reason he saves her at the end of Episode 3 and just leaves you to die. He just wipes her memory whenever he's done talking to her.
