I dont understand why it's so difficult to make the main game what classic fans want and any extra modes completely batshit action stuff.
The only reason I really play 6 is for Mercenaries, the combat mechanics are literally perfect if they were contained to those modes. if I wanted a regular RE I'd buy one but if I want to do any extra modes i will always have to turn to the action games that dont really have any kind of atmosphere.
I want to play as Hunk and do mercenaries in the Spencer Mansion, Police Station, Ganados Village etc.
Imagine RE3 with multiplayer Mercenaries instead of this Survivor stuff.

I thought the series was niche.
Every Mega Man series is niche by sales standards. Over 100 games and less than 10 have broken 1 Million sales, with the best-selling MM game of all time being MM2 on the NES with just 1.5M units.
That said, I'm pretty sure Legends was on the lower end of sales even then, with ZX and Starforce. Classic, X, and BN were the most popular.
