I'm slowly unlocking all the mh3u weapons from the Argosy captain, didn't even knew i could use the chack chack but now the game is even better.
Is his longsword unlockable too?

In 3u? He gives you his LS when you're done with his quest-chain.

You get the barbarian blade after you reach HR7, you then get the quest "Into the Maelstrom" to unlock it.

I spent the entire day yesterday coming up with cat builds and now I think I've got all the cats I'm ever going to make planned out. Unfortunately, I also realized that all but one of my existing cats were unoptimized so most of my old ones need to be purged to make room for the 15 new ones. I love this game and look forward to hunting more monsters in it now that my cat autism is out of the way.

If you're going meta, sure. There are so many options that it'd be a shame to only stick to those though, plus those meta builds have plenty of room for leeway. Like for instance, almost every suggested build on the nyanta wiki had Mega Boomerang and Go Fight Win on it regardless of bias while a lot of the builds I've seen elsewhere just have utility skills like Dung Bomb or Farcatster instead but are otherwise pretty similar. In any case, you're already going to be slower than a hunter so being fun to play is more important than absolute efficiency in my opinion.

I thought that they changed that in Ultimate, and that you could learn things from other cats, and that looks was the only thing that mattered now. I've gotten three new cats and just level them in the dojo

How it works is that each cat has a set pattern to their skills, so you have to get the right pattern before recruiting them. They can still learn two support moves and two passive skills, which I usually save for either group A/B moves/skills or bias-only moves like Emergency Retreat or Piercing Boomerangs to save space on the pattern. You can just reroll as much as you want (or just use a book) once you get the right move/skill patterns though, which is a huge step up from Gen where you only wanted a Fighter cat with one specific pattern and couldn't reroll anything.

Yeah, just like how you would share guild cards. That's the only way to get most of the DLC cats with unique passives since Capcom dropped the ball on it. I'm still looking for a hacked-in Weakness Exploit cat myself.
