>While we were locked up, we overheard the guards talk about this installation. They call it Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary Edition.
I'm surprised 343 got Pete Stacker back for this line, felt a little out of place.

Classic 343

How fucked up is the CE port?

>Halo...
>Combat Evolved Anniversary Edition...
>It's finished.

>No, I think we're just getting started.

Absolute masterpiece.

classic graphics are so fucked that you're better off using the remaster mode for most levels

Very fucked up. They fixed nothing from the Gearbox PC port while introducing other issues.

well its a port of a port so thats a thing now. but overall its working i guess? but theres a few issues with weapons and items

They used the shitty GearBox port which fucked up some of the graphics and some new shit as well. I wouldnt recommend playing it in classic mode.

You're better off patching Custom Edition on the PC with the campaign maps and all the fan fixes.
You're best off experiencing Halo on the OG Xbox

Classic mode isn't working at all. It lacks much of the finesse that made Halo special back in the day.

This is what 343 said as they planned fucking up another halo port

Graphics, AI, Spawns, and sound are all fucked.

Why did Keyes decide to talk seemingly hundreds of his men into a swamp to get some Covenant weapons? What did they even think they'd find? They were holding off pretty well with what they already had and you'd think there would be more important stuff to focus on at that time.

I'm sure they'd have explained it in a level they cut. They mention Keys searching for a weapons cache. Either they wanted in for themselves, or they wanted to stop the covenant from getting to it first.

They misinterpreted what the covenant were talking about finding.

I fucking hate how lazy CEA feels. The models are straight out of reach and look like shit with the old animations.

The accuracy of all weapons is now tied to the framerate, even in multiplayer, that's how fucked it is.

It was banking entirely on being a re-release for kids who started with Halo 3 and didnt have an OG Xbox

People shit on recycling assets a lot but I don't always mind it, for consistency sake. Context wise, the fleet followed the Autumn from Reach, so it'd be appropriate for everyone to have the same equipment.

The problem is that Reach really fucked up the designs.

and then they mixed the Reach assets with Halo 4 designs meant for the shield world. They just did a bad job on CE:A.

looks>lore especially when the lore was already getting fucked up by the time Reach came around anyway

Atleast Reach's models somewhat fit the environments they where stuck in. In CEA, the models are so high poly compared to the rest of the worldspace so that they look super unnatural in their environments.

rapid fire the plasma pistol and see

I'm pretty sure you can throw grenades while reloading

I'm hoping people can organize an effort to reverse engineer the files to Saber's engine on CE:A, so people can port in original work modelled after Bungie's assets, and make CE:A the product it ought to be.

But Keyes had the best animation cocking that pistol.
Anyone else wonder why Reach's Colonel Holland looked more like the Keyes we were expecting instead of what they'd actually done?

pic to compare

>Did anyone else make it?
>Scanning....just Dustin Echoes

Why didn't they save him? What the fuck, Chief?

>climb up a cliffside wall in Silent to get a better view of some jackals
>have to shoot at a snail's pace because the pistol's accuracy gets fucked at higher frame rates somehow
>while on the wall I set the game to remake graphics
>game pushes me off the cliffside wall because in the remake there's an invisible wall there for some reason
>get in close to some elites with a plasma pistol
>every time I quick fire the game plays the full sound effect of a plasma charging shot
>halfway through the confrontation the music finally starts playing
>another music layers itself right on top of the first one for some reason
>neither of them loop during the segment I'm in
I'm glad I didn't pay for my copy of the MCC or I'd be pissed, my friends still cling on to Halo being that one thing they played when they were younger so they're still trying to bear through this shit but I'll just wait it out and see if anything gets fixed

for real. I remember thinking the Holland portrait was supposed to be Keyes when Reach first came out and thinking they did such a great job revamping him, and then come to find it was just some unrelated one-off.

Halo was designed for one system.

Multiplatform has to be designed for a wide range of mixed specs, Single platform can be built knowing exactly what's running it. You can make optimizations that wouldn't work with other setups, or some shit like that.

I'm not disagreeing about the odd animation everywhere else. I maintain Keyes having good animation though.

>for real. I remember thinking the Holland portrait was supposed to be Keyes when Reach first came out and thinking they did such a great job revamping him, and then come to find it was just some unrelated one-off.

How did you feel when Keyes starts talking in the final level?

I always heard "us and Echoes" so I thought some team of marines under the name Echoes also survived.

When is Halo 2 and 3 coming out?
That’s the only ones I care about

Sure, I know these problems all relate to this being a port that's being run on a mess of a game that needs to handle multiple games/engines at the same time. But I expect better from a company with Microsoft's fuck you money backing it.

They knew that the remaining Covenant would be tracking Dustin so they used him as a decoy to escape
it's a shitty thing to do but desperate times call for desperate measures and Echoes knew the risks

>using remastered grafix
>try and shoot at covenant
>shoot into a invisible wall
>switch to og grafix
>there's a wall there
why?

Are the Halo books related to CE worth reading?

Yeah they're pretty good. The first few Halo books are all written by Eric Nylund who is apparently a decently known sci-fi author and he nails the feel of the universe.
The Flood is the book retelling CE itself written by some other dude and it's prose is less good than the others but it's neat for getting a glimpse into what was going on at other points during the game.

Does anybody else feel bad killing covenant holdouts on two betrayals?

Just go get Halo Custom Edition, Download the SPV3 mod, and have an actual updated Halo 1 experience, complete with new enemies, models, and levels.

Fuck this 343 shit. They just can't get remasters right.

how is Gearbox's CE port compared to the original game? Was a lot lost?

i know the MCC is a botchjob but back that i didnt have an eye for the differences between versions

>SPV3
no

>i don't like fun

Okay bud.

>SPV3
>updated Halo 1 experience
SPV3 is the epitome of "MORE THING GOOD", it's such a bloated mess with a ton of redundant garbage.

You are playing Gearbox's CE port in the MCC

Records indicate strong covenant activity. This truly was a Magia Record.

The original PC Gearbox port had some fucked shit. Mainly the graphics and the bump mapping, bump mapping was only active when you pointed your flashlight at the surface of a wall or whatever. That shit carried over into the 343 anniversary edition. However, the original Gearbox port did add the flamethrower, banshees on multiplayer, like 5 more maps, and the rocket warthog.

Yeah it does feel bad seeing them be so up against it. If they were willing to let bygones be bygones I'd just let them do their while I do mine.

There's a part in the book for CE where Chief is going up the gravlift in the Keyes mission and he describes the Covenant as fighting the hardest he's ever seen and he felt a kinship with them.

People who watch e-celebs are goyim. Absolutely fucking braindead. You are the reason that the jews think they're winning.

Attached: adult me.jpg (754x734, 85.5K)

Many many missing effects, broken shaders, multi-pass rendering effects were fucked, color grading was fucked, bump mapping was fucked.

halo ce anniversary > og halo ce on xbox hardware > halo ce 2003's port

the 2003's port is so fucking broken not even the difficulty settings work properly, you'll have different spawns from the OG xbox version, have missing graphical effects, broken animations capped at 30fps and tons of broken graphics including bump mapping and specular maps, basically beta halo at best

anniversary is still missing some effects but it's a lot better, unless you swap to the anniversary graphics in which case it's a fucking shitshow as well

the closest thing to the OG xbox experience is downloading the halo custom edition sub-port, applying a series of mods and playing with a controller, otherwise you need an actual xbox hueg

I think I remember transparency sorting being fucked too.

Is that why people are talking about this shit so much? Do any of you fuckers even play video games?

is it just me or does every cutscene seem to run at like 30fps
the models and animations are stuttering like fuck while the world itself is smooth

like how do you fuck that up

Attached: get tomorrows date.png (694x801, 77.38K)

Animations are locked to 30 fps on MCC.
There are mods for 60 fps animation on Custom Edition PC.

>like how do you fuck that up

They said it was intentional

I'm playing through DOS 2 with two friends, played KOTOR and some Dino Crisis earlier today. Been a good day for video games, waiting for my one buddy to come home from the gym so I can crack some a beer and we can continue playing Original Sin 2.

Do YOU play video games, user?

Attached: 1541865806537.jpg (550x550, 105.88K)

They probably had to lock it to 30 because of the online and couldn't be arsed to go back through the source code and do something about it, when they'd already delayed the release.

>we overheard the guards talk about this installation
So Elites speak English to each other in the Halo Universe?
Seems like they would have their own language

SPV3 sucks.

something something translation chips in the neural interfaces something something
