I just started playing it like an hour ago, first game in the series for me. It feels cheap. Like a VN that pirated a few gameplay mechanics from a Chinese Xenoblade X knockoff. Cutscenes are weird and too zoomed in on the characters' torso so you never get to look at the scenery, the dialogue is pretty bad as you'd expect from a jrpg with heavy friendship, and the map doesn't have quick travel locations labeled so even getting around the island so far can be a pain in the ass. There's also apparently a pretty small cap on materials you can carry this early into the game which makes me upset because the entire fucking point of the game is to craft things I think. Will continue to play but things aren't looking good for the game.

It's kinda funny to think she's from a series that used to be aimed at lolifags

That's pretty much how most Atelier/Koei Tecmo games are. They are extremely low quality and only exist to be waifu/coomer baits

The games are low-budget, yes. You'll unlock fast travel not far into the game, and once you do the item cap will be meaningless.

It's years of Japanese research into what sells, a combination of thicc, small, pout, tightness and face designed to appeal enough for you to drop money into it.

Well clearly it fuckin worked on me. I love some thighs. But my friend said the series has really good crafting that will let my autism be satisfied so I don't want to drop it yet.
That tiny bag limit means I'm going to be quick traveling back and forth pretty frequently though. Gonna take me forever and a day to get through any map.

The game replaces the instantly go back home button with a "quick travel anywhere you want." button and it includes a significantly better map.
The series has always been closer to a harvest moon game as opposed to a more story based RPG. As you go along you'll probably learn to not grab literally everything and just the materials you actually need as well.

From what I've played it's pretty comfy, but also kinda slow paced. So keep that in mind.

Only Atelier game I played and I actually ended up liking it a lot. It's still got problems like being really easy and a simple plot and characters but I just wanted a simple moe relaxing game after work so it fits for me.

The game felt sort of like a retreading of their Iris trilogy but in HD. If you liked those, you'll like Ryza.

I really enjoyed it.
Nice slice of life game, combat was a bit different from a regular RPG.
