What I tried getting into Type-Moon's media.

ew

Hollow Ataraxia was the last good piece of Fate media ever made

Extrashit was the beginning of the end

Some point between Extra and GO

when carnival phantasm ended and they started to pretend tsukihime doesnt exist

Anything post Fate Zero

It all went to shit with the Extraverse. But the trend downward was because of Gen being the one to write Fate/Zero.

Right after this.

Fuck you, Twice and Saver were kino

I'm not saying there was nothing good about Extra or that there aren't still good Fate stories, it's just that Extra was the point where the franchise started to seriously drift in terms of its style and quality.

anything after mahoyo

Why is Fate/Zero so beloved by its fans?

underaged secondaries, uroshitters, and edgelords

>got her own game
>it even got a sequel
>still irrelevant
Isn't is sad, Taiga?

Early Nasu had some interesting ideas however they all went down the shitter after FSN came out and he understood that he can make infinite money on porn with genderswapped historical figures. Since then he even gave up on porn because of desire for wider markets, however he still keeps milking this shit.

They started with it, so they have no context for how badly it clashes with every other "classic" Fate thing

>Kills the antagonist of Fate/Apocrypha single handedly even though F/A's protag needed plothax and the souls of two different heroic spirit inside him to pull it off.
Worth every grail I put into her.

The anime adaptation of Fate/Zero and then the release of F/GO flooded the fanbase with secondary shitters. Now TM is content with pandering to waifu faggots, and Nasu thinks he's above his old works now, so we're never getting classic Type Moon back. It's a shame, because so much of what attracted me to their works to begin with was the world-building, but the thousand Fate spinoffs we've seen in the past decade have completely foregone that in favor of selling more Saber lookalikes.

I don't know if I'd call it a downward spiral but F/GO has definitely skewed the priorities of Type Moon way too much. The Nasuverse is insanely interesting and is currently being wasted on some stupid gacha game and turning every historical figure into a flat chested loli/big titty anime girl. It's fine that the series diversifies into other things, but F/GO is way too much of a focus. Fate in general should probably take a break. They should finish off the Tsukihime remake, remind everyone that Type Moon can make things that aren't Fate, whip the main artist back into shape, and do a story in the Nasuverse that has nothing to do with Fate or Servants.

It's good, its just not as memorable or enjoyable as FSN

hopefully the tsukihime remake comes out this year

they could do that for instead of type moon was nintendo and instead of fate was smash bros

The second that pedo shit prisma illya was green lit

>The Nasuverse is insanely interesting and is currently being wasted on some stupid gacha game and turning every historical figure into a flat chested loli/big titty anime girl.
As interesting as it is, it barely got any development even before fgo, because back then all their attention was focused on extra that consisted mostly of asset reuse in some barely relevant setting. Nasu hardly gives a fuck about universe I guess, or at least much less than people who are interested in his works.

>actually hopeful for that shitshow
user...

lmao its unironically classified as cheeze pizza in russia

>hopefully the tsukihime remake comes out
Now hold up dude, you got the monkey paw to end all monkey paws there, better be careful with it.

I mean, he couldn't use his twin arm NP and Jaguar Man had divine authority in the jungle.
It wasn't much of a fair fight.

When Mahoyo's mixed reception broke Nasu and he signed off on F/GO and ended up coasting on that shit for a fucking decade instead of making new works like he used to.
Also Extra was a mistake and even though Nasu jumped on mid-development he failed to salvage it.

I'm going to be generous and say it all ended with fgo
Everything else was forgivable

Prisma Illya is the ONLY ongoing Fate series that still carries the soul of old Type Moon
Judging it based on webms you saw of the anime's fanservice is exactly as ignorant as acting like you've experienced F/SN by watching Ufotable's shit

Fragments seems pretty soulful from what I've read.
Never really liked Fox-Tail.
Strange/Fake......I like but goddamn they just threw all semblence of balance out the window.

>The second that pedo shit prisma illya was green lit
No, Fate/Kaleid is great af
The anime adaptation is pedo shit and the culprit is Silver Link

they're all so cute!!

Is the manga really that different?

When Higashide started writing for Type Moon

Still hasn't happened yet.
Watched the animes (Fate:2006; Zero; UBW) a few years ago. And I haven't yet finished the VN.

Shit. posted wrong image :/

I don't think so

It was never good. Yusuke Kishi is a far better writer than Nasu will ever dream of being. Kara no Kyoukai was just about the only good thing Nasu ever wrote. The rest is trash. Fate is only good conceptually, not in execution though.

fate extra is the only correct answer
>birthed saberface and otherwise rehashing the same character designs endlessly
>turned the series into a basic ass jrpg with no trace of the horror roots
>even has arc and shiki in there just to make sure that all type moon ip's can be attached to this shitshow

I'd agree with you, but the humourless Mods wouldn't.

The first two seasons of the anime are decent adaptations but they simplify a lot of the more subtle or emotional drama scenes to keep the tone lighter, and there's some of the usual loss in narration/monologues that comes from adapting a text work to an anime.
In the first series the manga gives a much better look at how upset and distressed Illya becomes when she almost dies and gets everyone else killed in the Assassin fight, and it's resolved by Irisveil dropping her wacky facade to reveal some of what she knows about Illya's situation and more directly advise and encourage her, while the anime has her talk around the issue to just give a generic pep talk and she stays practically a joke character.
In 2wei the foreshadowing of the twist with Miyu and her sisterly relationship with Luvia is just done better, along with Chloe's clone angst and resentment toward her family. The finale especially is a spectacular climax and cliffhanger leading into 3rei, which the anime ruins by breaking it up with egregious fanservice and a shitty original ending because they weren't greenlit for a 3rei anime yet. And 3rei's anime is just bad all around, all the more with how much better the anime's art had become in comparison.

All that said the Oath Under Snow movie is still great and worth watching (the BD version where they cleaned up the animation, anyway).

When he stopped making actual protagonists. Waifu's aside I could never get into Extra's or Grand Order's story because of this. The protagonists feels, more often than not, like an outsider to the events around them despite ostensibly playing a integral role.

It was never good

What about that VN he did? Witch on the Holy Night?

The moment Saber was turned into a woman. Things didn't go to shit immediately, but that's really when the seed was planted.

What about it? Despite being a incomplete story, I got more invested in the story because we could get into the heads of the main characters. How they think, how they feel and interact with each other.

The deal is, you could tell a good story if you took the King Arthur tale, and genderbent the character. If... youreya good writer. Instead we got LOLMAGICPENIS and other poorly thought out contrivences.

If you made it so that Arthur was a chick pretending to be a king to uphold a prophecy/legend, and she has the hots for Lancelot her childhood friend. And is forced to marry Gueneviere...

And, Lancelot who is jealous of all the free gifts and power Arturia got. While he’s the raw will power and training badass, but is still supporting of her and her secret.

And Arturia is burdened by her responsibilities and having to live up to expectations greater than hers, and always feeling inferior due to the fact that the Knights of the Round and Merlin are the ones with real skill who prop her up...

Well, when Lancelot eventually gets with Guen and betrays Arturia and they go to war, you’ve got a much more interesting and riveting character drama, than whatever the fuck Nasu wrote.

>When precisely did the downward spiral of Nasu and Type-Moon begin
Act Cadenza.

>people are excited for NUsu tsukihime

I really hate how Ciel looks like Mashshit

Why does everyone have the same face

I was asking if you felt the protagonist was more to your liking there and if you liked the VN

The second they started gender-bending everyone and just focusing on waifufaggotry.

Because it's actually GOOD rather than fanservice + mary sues

What about Prototype, Case Files, and Strange Fake?

fate and type shit always were shit

>Case Files
Not the other user and don't know about the other two but Case Files is trash
