If you looked at it from another angle you could view Seymour as Buddha, as Buddha described Hindu reincarnation as an "endless spiral", versus Buddhism which taught you to look down at the spiral as a circle and break free from the cycle of reincarnation: Sin represents the cycle of reincarnation.

Where do you get this from, nothing of this kind is even remotely implied anywhere in the game in any way.

From what I recal, general process was something alongside of:
final summoning must be performed on someone with strong mutal feelings between him/her and summoner
summoner dies, said person turns into final aeon
final aeon has power to defeat sin
sin is actually just an armor of yu yevon(?)
when sin is defeated, yu is released and corrupts first close aeon nearby as it's afraid of dying
after years of corruption, armor in form of sin grows back, the mental state of final aeon breaks down with time
