Weapons felt boring, and the game felt more like a proto-RPG than a FPS game, I prefer UT2k4

Great music and atmosphere. No other FPS does creating an immersive alien world quite like it. But the actual gameplay is hit or miss. The weapons are awesome, but certain enemies are annoying to fight and the tech base levels are trash. I’d still recommend it though, along with RTNP. Apparently there are also mods that bring back beta content as well, so I should check those out. Too bad the fire ruins level was scrapped with no version ever found.

it was nice

And as a bonus, an alpha recreation mod is in development. oldunreal.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1562511651

the unreal modding scene is still alive?
I'm surprised

2004 is better

Habouji!

I just want a proper Unreal sequel. Unreal 2 was a complete miss for me.

OOBIDA OOBIDA!

Some of the levels worked so well in co-op, bluff eversmoking and dasa cellars in particular.

Unreal and UT99 had some of the most inspired maps ever.

So much fucking soul. And don't get me started on the soundtrack. It's still sampled today.

epitome of comfy

You can hear it just looking at it can't you Yas Forums?

i fucking LOVE that game. played it for the first time a few years ago. it felt like a true journey, highlight for me had to be the sky island and the lonely spire. also the environmental storytelling (dead bodies telling of final struggles) was so nice

Both SP and MP were good

Attached: ut_water.webm (1280x720, 2.96M)

I stil play ut2004 online but its pretty dead
and there are like 1 million different maps for all type onslaught, invasion rpg, ctf etc

Which sounds did you prefer, the original sounds or the ones they patched in later?
>the sunspire
we used to shoot each other off the top and try to load the next map before they hit the lava kek.

I absolutely adore it. I'm also replaying it right now

whats better dx10 or openGL?

Attached: 1583519161008.jpg (403x403, 24.81K)

I'm sure I used to get a nicer image with one of the modified openGL renders, but that was years ago.

One of my favorite SP FPS'. Shame they killed it for UT.

For me, it's Facing Worlds

Absolute nostalgia boner, phenomenal soundtrack, but everything else didn't really age that well

How the fuck do I get rid of the mouse accelleration in U1G? its driving me fucking nuts. Turned everything mouse related off in the options, checked the ini.

Try setting 'UseDirectInput' to true in unreal.ini

Isotoxin with its intro still intact.

I enjoyed it a good amount. The AI is honestly on par with the stuff from Halo, like half the guns don't feel good to use. The bio rifle and razor jack are way too weak, the crystal gun and pistol felt alright, the flak canon and chain gun were great. The stages are great, but there are just some overly long stretches of nothing you have to run across. Like they had the idea for stages but then connected them with long hallways because they had no idea how to do it organically.

Underrated game, but more flawed than the other highly regarded classic shooters. Definitely worth playing.

Aged like milk. Levels are huge, confusing and empty as fuck. The technical advances from the time are entirely unimpressive today.

when it kicks in at 1:00

Damn, imagine being this wrong.

Love it. Really love the setting/atmosphere, It has that mix of scifi/fantasy mix of bizarre but impractical weapons and tech you don't see anymore. Also a fun shooter.

Now every sci-fi action game makes everything look like militarized apple products.

it was scary

>Unreal 2 was a complete miss for me.
It was a miss for everyone. It's a meme that it doesn't even exist. Unreal is posted in every "games that should have gotten a sequel" thread.

youtube.com/watch?v=K9AC2jKjbNg

The atmosphere in later levels were special.

It was as bad as FEAR 2 or Blood 2 or DX:IW?

How did they make pathways not perfect rectangles like today? Looks so realistic somehow.

Open gl the mouse felt waaaay better to me. Of course it looked way better too. long time ago

Fuck I miss mod music

FEAR 2 wasn't bad enough to kill its franchise, it took another game to do that.
But yes, Unreal 2 was a DoSex IW and Blood 2 level of fuck up.

Neat.

The music and atmosphere are fantastic, but the quality of the level design varies a lot. The dodge move some enemies use is a pain in the ass, as are the friendly NPCs.

Fantastic game. By far my favorite mod tracker soundtrack of all time. You felt like you were stranded on an alien world. I also love the art design combining rusty mechanical apparatuses, high tech and medieval fantasy (judging by this game, RtCW, Thief and Quake 1, castles must've been a very popular setting for first person games back then).

There's nothing like it.

This

great game, loved it
i played it with friends on lan years ago and we were switching between unreal, cs 1.6 and mohha
the best memories of my life...

no offence but you seriously play like this?

barely.
t. former unreal modder, stopped modding because nobody really plays so no audience

map creation is less dead than pure modding though

I like how Unreal 1 used a lot of secondary colors, especially for the lighting.

Not my screenshot.

I don't know what is it about the Unreal1 and Goldsrc engines but they are so full of soul. God I loved exploring maps, especially the ones with a lot of ambiance.
