Those are facts. Ori is an extremely polished game with heavy platforming focus and beautiful OST and visuals.

Valdis Story is janky but it's really fun and I have no idea why people don't talk about it more. Even the extremely shit and edgy main character and story starts to grow on you after a while.
Timespinner was fun to 100% as well, though I am very good at ignoring plot and characters so I can’t exactly recommend it.

You realize that Ori's combat is dogshit right? It's the biggest flaw of the game that the sequel is promising to fix.
"Only one attack button" ignores the fact that in HK you can attack in four directions, which matters a ton. Pogoing is important in a ton of fights. And a game can have simple attacks but still have good combat, just look at how much Furi does with such a limited moveset. The actual content is what matters at the end of the day.

Metroidvania is just a game where you have a sprawling map full of secrets and abilities and items to gain to back track and take new routes until you reach the end of the game.
Which makes Souls games Metroidvania's because you do just that. Walkaround in a huge map, find items and gain new things to backtrack and open new areas until you reach the end of the game.

And that's a bad thing. The vania part of the name is completely superfluous and the RPG mechanics are what make Castlevania more interesting than Metroid. It's a shit term. Why add -vania to something if there is no Castlevania influence whatsoever? Just call it a metroid game.

Wrong, souls games don't have abilities that allow you to access areas and also change up the gameplay. All it has are weapons with different abilities that don't do anything to let you access different areas.
Meanwhile Ori and Hollow Knight follow the exact definition of Metroidvania by having you collect various abilities such as double jumping, dashing, etc to access areas you couldn't have access before.
Soulsfags prove once again they are as delusional as ever even after Sekiro won its GOTY award.
