Welcome to nu-v zoomer edition.
>Not Nintendo = trash
Why would I when the remake is right around the corner?
Well, unlike the remake, this is a full game with a complete plot.
I played IX instead.
It’s overrated and looks like a shitty cartoon
>2067 is right around the corner
what ever you say
Graphics are bad
I didnt grow up with a ps1 for starters
It is on my list though
Not first priority though
It's on every single modern platform too
No excuse to have not played it if you're into JRPGs.
If you don't like JRPGs then I can excuse you for not playing it.
They weren't alive when things didn't need a passing hype train to be paid attention to.
>never played it
>"it's overrated"
Maybe some people grew up without a PS1. None of my friends had one and the PS1 games looked ugly compared to some of the PC games I was playing.
I tried other FF games and the first two are the only mainline games I could get into.
>How?
jrpg are the capeshit of vidya and i'm not an autistic brainlet
Zoomzoom.
I still haven't finished it, I always get to the end of disc 1, take a short break and forget
I wasn't into JRPGs when I was a kid.
Congrats, you're the target audience for FFVII Remake
I don't like japanese games or anime aesthetic
I did play it when it came out but never got past the first few hours because I thought it was mediocre at best.
It's 32 years old.
FFVII has aged like garbage. Before the game was available on everything, I remember pirating the PC version and thought I got a fake download since the graphics were so shitty and the combat was basic as hell. Ended up spending $60 on eBay for the original PS1 discs and realized that was just FFVII
I'm not buying FFVIIR untill I beat FFVII though
>1998 was 42 years ago
It's easy to be averse to going back to play it when compared to other classics both before and after it. The overworld models are obviously a rough transition to 3D and mechanically it's not exactly a trailblazer or really that engaging. Someone removed from the context of the era going back to something like Doom, Mario 3, Mario 64, Super Metroid, Quake, or even a similarly presentation-focused game like Oddworld can almost always, at the very least, see why those games made waves. FF7's popularity might be more difficult to wrap your head around and I say that as someone who's really grown to love the game over time.
You have to be at least 25 and have serious nostalgia goggles to enjoy this blocky, outdated game in 2020.
I mean, if you've played the entirety of disc 1 then you've played everything FFVII Remake is covering
I played it a few years ago and I see why someone would have a hard time getting into it let alone finishing it, it just didn't age very well
I played it back in the day and now can't. It's too fucking boring now, even at 2x speed in emulation. It's just not a good game without being able to blow your mind with production values that had never been done in a game before.
I played Brave Fencer Musashi as a kid, which was great
It came with a demo for FFVIII, and the cutscenes were beautiful, but I found the gameplay really boring
Figured VII would be the same, so I never played it
Super Metroid could come out today and it'd be amazing
Fucking legendary game
Remember this thread when see the FFVIIR circlejerks.
>big bro's bro let me borrow his ps1 mem card when I was 3-5yrs old because I could never find the places to go on the overworld
>wow this remake only goes through a fraction of what I played before
>I didnt even finish the game yet!
Oh I see, I thought FFVIIR was ending much earlier then that for some reason
>right around the corner?
Enjoy your first part, bro.
7's ending is my genuine favorite of the series
Past the wonky graphics and poor writing/pacing was a great finale and fmvs
I honestly dont mind how the original looks but I fucking hate the atb system. What a trash system.
Fucking christ
I was 1 year old when it dropped, that's how. I still played it when I was like 8, I just don't remember much
m8 you won't get to see the most important scenes for at least 5 years or so
Oh it does end earlier, Remake ends right after the Shinra HQ raid and Midgar bike escape.
FFVII's first disc covers up to Aerith's death.
>people should play shitty games for e-cred and not for fun
In 20 years you'll see today's underages complain that future underages legitimately never played Skyrim, TW3 or Fortnite
>source: my ass
Yeah, I liked how it really wasn't a "happy" ending and how you were basically left to draw your own conclusions as to what happened to Avalanche/Midgar/The Planet after meteor collides with Holy and you see a smiling Aeris's face.
Of course then the Compilation came along and ruined all of that but I'd rather just pretend those never happened.
I have never played Doom or Ocarina of Time.
Play Doom. It's like 5 hours long. Literally just download GZDoom and play it.
You may be trolling, but I shuddered hard everytime somebody older than 25 said that in the last months. Plain retardness at its best.
I had a PS1 growing up. The multiple discs intimidated me for some reason. Never played it because I hate JRPG
25? I know a guy who said that. He's 32 this year.
Good choice, but why play only that? The first 10 + Tactics are all masterpieces in their own.
And 11 too, if you liked MMORPG.
Neither did I, but I had a decent PC. Windows version came out before 1999 IIRC. Here in europe it was only a few months after the PS1 version came out.
>Played it two years ago thinking the remake was gonna be released soon
>wrong as hell
It was an enjoyable experience overall, but like most fags on Yas Forums I wanted to be able to compare it to the remake and bitch about how different it is. Glad I did, because man there are some pretty big changes so far.
Just play the remake
>better writing/translation
>better production
>better gameplay
The only thing the original has over the remake is that it's a complete story. Just wait for the remakes to complete then I guess.
Because it's shit. I have no idea how it's such a popular game, much less how anyone thinks it's "one of the best games ever". You literally walk around at a snail's pace, WOOSH TELEPORT TO DIFFERENT DIMENSION FOR NO APPARENT REASON WITH SOME MONSTERS, kill them with a painstakingly slow battle system that makes no sense and you can't move with the joystick but instead have to just mash all the buttons until the characters randomly run up and attack the enemies on their own, then you get a bunch of useless points that fill up a bar to make you feel some sort of sense of achievement but don't apparently do anything. Rinse and repeat forever with poorly animated barely discernable midget characters babble in text about random shit that doesn't matter.
I played for like an hour before I couldn't take it anymore. Good riddance.
FUCKING THIS.
>world population, 7 billion
>FFVII copies sold 11 million
>0.0015 % people have actually played FFVII
Shit game
I grew up with a PS1 and never played to disc 2. Not even a zoomer. I just liked other games on the ps1 more. My brother was the Final Fantasy VII/Suikodenfag.
because i wasn't born in america where all japanese rpg games were also sold
wgere i come from almost nobody had consoles
>replay FF7 in anticipation of the remake
>realize that most of the game's best moments and most memorable scenes are well after Midgar
>get less excited for the remake
And you don't even see Cloud take a shit once. Are we supposed to believe that Cloud doesn't use the bathroom? This game is a joke.
It looks ugly as fuck though most ps1 games are
And its obvious most of its popularity comes from a high marketing buget and
>"muh FMV"
>"its like a real movie!!!"
>"FUCK cartridges, discs ARE THE FUTURE"
hype
The saddest thing about this post is that I can't tell if it's a troll or not.
Is it true that FF7 is the most returned game ever? Something about the marketing making people believe it was similar to Zelda and people were disappointed to find out it was turn based combat
it's 23 years old you're just old and don't understand.
They really shot themselves in the foot by waiting this long to remake FFVII. The original was built specifically to make each big area look nothing like the last. Well, that's the antithesis to modern game design, where you build a large pool of assets in the beginning and use them to build the entire game. Either they're gonna tone down the uniqueness of the areas (bad idea) or they're gonna be making a lot of one off assets, which will eat through a lot of time and money. They should've remade FFVII and VIII on the PS2 like they originally planned to before the merger, because their work load now is crazy
Because I played Brave Fencer Musashi instead.
This is what peak female performance looks like.
A lot of ps1 games have amazing pretty sprites, but since it confirmed 3d as the future a lot of titles are ugly early 3d. I would say ff7 is ugly too. I do want to play it but I heard its easy and I played ff4 hard mode so, unless there is a hard mod im not gonna bother
