Netflix's Castlevania Series is a Terrible Adaptation

This is an atrocious adaptation of the Castlevania games and shouldn't even be considered as such for several reasons.

First of all, one of the main writers of this series DIDN'T EVEN PLAY THE GAMES. Almost no substantial research was done for this, and it shows. The series doesn't capture the atmosphere of the games and it doesn't acknowledge its roots because the writers don't even know what they are. Does any of it feel anything like Indiana Jones, Vampire Hunter D, Hammer Film Productions? No, none of it does, not even a bit. It's way too much Heavy Metal for the modern social media audience and not enough Castlevania.

What's the point of an adaptation if it doesn't strive to get people interested in the original source material? In a business sense, this series makes no sense. They animated some uninformed fedora tipper's fan fiction that makes no attempt at getting a new audience interested in the games. A total waste of a production.

Not to mention it's just crap. I didn't watch season 3 besides some clips and I have no intention of changing that because seasons 1 and 2 were downright pathetic. Juvenile dialogue and sense of humor, too many edgemeisters, only one episode focused on the castle and no monster slaying done inside said castle, original motives of established characters are outright ignored or changed, almost no music from the games featured.

And don't even get me started on the obvious fujoshi pandering that's destroying characters for the sake of fetishes.

What a disgrace.

Not watching because there's no Grant and they Trevor into a retarded drunk. Is that Alucard thing true?

the only part that was decent and made some sense was Isaac's
fucking
Isaac's
the sex didn't help and just cements the series as bootleg vampire GoT

they talked a bit about a pirate that put wheels on his ship and I couldn't help but think of Grant since what the fuck was he doing inland when the castle appeared in the game

>This is an atrocious adaptation of the Castlevania games and shouldn't even be considered as such
It took you till the third season to understand?

I enjoy it for what it is, but it really doesn't invoke feelings of Castlevania at all.

>there's no Grant
It feels like they've completely removed Grant from existence in the franchise anyway. It's bizarre.

>adaptation is shit
You don't say

Um, sorry sweetie... we aren't making the show to please homophobic incels like yourself.

Not only is Alucard gay, he's a gay bottom.

If death was in there it would have been much better honestly.

we're never going to see the other Belmonts are we

>Series co-producer and writer Warren Ellis noted that in putting together a story that would appeal to a general audience beyond those who play the games regularly, he was, in fact, the general audience.
That's what the writer himself says.
This series' success so far has nothing to do with it being Castlevania. It's just the skin tackled on to a cartoon aimed at westerners with sex, violence and swear words as this is in demand right now.

...

kek, bottoms have more balls than you ever will, bet you're too insecure to even glance at a bottle of shampoo.

LITERALLY WHAT IS THIS?

hot

enjoy wearing diapers at 40

>taking Grant Morrison off the show somehow made it even fucking worse

if you watched all the way to season 3 you deserve it

Hopefully not
Can you imagine Lament of Innocence done in the Netflix setting?
"I am beloved by the night" would become "You never fucked the night raw, did you, you little shitstain? Your sugar mommy is fucking dead and I'm going to take your head off now."

biggest samefag in the history of Yas Forums

Boy, I sure can't wait for his DMC adaptation.

hot

Yeah. I pray to Galamoth that Warren Ellis will be tortured and somehow this entire Shitflix Original can be erased from everyones memories. I pray I just wake up in a reality where it never happened.

Reminder that the real problem with the rape scene is that it's poorly written and literally only exists for shock value and to stir up internet drama.

that bottom thing looks familiar, what is it?

>What's the point of an adaptation if it doesn't strive to get people interested in the original source material?
To use brand recognition to sell a whatever product the company is pushing. Just like the live action resident evil games. It's sad but this is how the suits think.

Monster on the Hill

>to sell a whatever product the company is pushing
What product is being pushed here? Because it's not the games.

Where's Keanu?

Subscriptions to Netflix to watch bootleg GoT in animated form.

>What product is being pushed here?
The animated series is the product. Same as the resident evil movies using RE to push the film franchise.

>Reminder that Dragon's Dogma is next on the chopping board

>Screech about Americans
>Warren Ellis is British
>Grant Morrison had left the show already by this point

It confirmed what we all knew about Alucard!

Castlevania games NEVER had a good written story.
They started attempting plot only with Koji's involvement and SOTN still remains his best work.
The other Metrodivania Castlevanias, while having good gameplay were never worth a playthrough for their story which was always built upon protagonists with little to no agency.
They all centered around mystery with one unexpected plot twist, but there wasn't anything more to them.

>Yas Forums barely talks about the Castlevania Netflix crap
>Alucard is gay now or whatever, doesn't matter because it's not canon to the games
>suddenly Yas Forums cannot shut the fuck up about it
just don't buy it and don't advertize the series for free by whining

But that's the criticism, this is a stupid business move because it could instead be pushing more game sales.

I'm not into gay shit.
In the same way I'm not into watching soaps, riding motorcycles or eating prawns.

However I'm not allowed to say I'm not into gay shit anymore and I'm looked at like a monster because I don't want to spend my time with gay shit.

What happened to the world? People used to be able to like what they liked and were allowed personal tastes.
Why does everybody have to like what everybody else says I have to like?
Is it because I have autism?

A friend who had never played CV asked me why it takes place in the future and mentioned that characters speak of ancient things like penicillin, or something.
What the fuck is that about? I like CV but I've never seen this.

Damn, Slogra looks like that?

How fucking stupid is Hector to get fooled by the same shit twice?

Also, evil alucard is such fucking bullshit. I can’t believe they’re doing that.

gotta give him a reason to not give a fuck about Isaac taking over the castle I guess

Better story than any castlevania game. They did well with the source material. You retards need to fuck off and take it for what it is.

>adaptation of something is terrible
what else is new? every time something is adapted from one format to another it goes off in it's own direction and is wildly different from the source.
WHY IS EVERYONE SURPRISED?

>The series doesn't capture the atmosphere of the games and it doesn't acknowledge its roots

If there's one area that the Netflix series did a decent job on it's acknowledging it's roots. I would say roughly 80% but this series isn't about telling a like for like story of the games, not only because that would be boring but there's fuck all apart from small plot details.

Attached: Alucard Impalement.webm (1280x720, 1.79M)

>take it for what it is.
Much like Alucard taking dicks

>they literally put in a rape scene for cheap pops
>it will never get brought up again or referenced

fuck this show for using rape for shock value and nothing else. If this happened to Sylpha instead people would be fucking rioting to get the show cancelled but since it's a dude it panders to fujos and queerfags.

Attached: 1580593342735.jpg (720x715, 199.32K)

>If there's one area that the Netflix series did a decent job on it's acknowledging it's roots.
>Does any of it feel anything like Indiana Jones, Vampire Hunter D, Hammer Film Productions? No, none of it does, not even a bit.
So much for acknowledging its roots.

>this is a stupid business move because it could instead be pushing more game sales.
You missed my point then user. The live action resident evil movies weren't made to push the games but instead the film franchise. There was even a far more faithful script already prepared but passed over instead to let Paul Anderson and his soon-to-be wife do their own thing.

Just like the Netflix Castlevania series is designed to push itself using brand recognition as the initial draw. That's the type of logic on display here. It was never about making a faithful adaptation. It was about leveraging a good animated studio and some well known directors to make something that would help Netflix justify itself. yes, they should have made something that would promote the games as well as the animated series but instead we got Warren "the church is always evil all the time" Ellis.

Game Alucard would never flip out and behave like his father like that even it's against somebody who tried to murder him.

trevor never threw a knife
never threw a axe
never used holy water
AND WE NEVER SAW A FUCKING CROSS BOOMERANG
THE BEST SIDE WEAPON IN THE GAME

Attached: Trevor.gif (512x480, 1.12M)

Season 1 was good
Season 2 was garbage
Why are you surprised Season 3 is even worse?

>never threw a knife
>never used holy water
...but he did?

Yeah, he's pretty much dhampir Jesus.

That gif is pure kino

Attached: savm.jpg (451x697, 26.08K)

Well, he would fucking murder them but he won't pike them and make lawn ornaments of their corpses.

He did throw knives and an axe
And he used holy water
All in season 1

So is Alucard being gay canon then?
That'll change how I see the games, especially his relationship with Soma Cruz

>The live action resident evil movies weren't made to push the games but instead the film franchise.
Okay? And that was a stupid business move too.

yeah, they recalled all previous Castlevania games he's in to rewrite the dialogue so he's asking for buttsex from every male he encounters. He cries a lot too.

The only thing that was really good in season 1 was the Dracula episode.
Season 2 works as a standalone piece because it is mostly a character study of Dracula.

>If there's one area that the Netflix series did a decent job on it's acknowledging it's roots
Alucard doing Dracula shit, yeah your opinion suck dude, those details you like are what are angering people who know Castlevania

>trevor never threw a knife
Wrong
>no holy water
Wrong again, though he doesn't have those grenades

Warren Ellis would probably shoot himself before he let Trevor do a grand cross, bible subweapon, or use the boomerangs

>The live action resident evil movies weren't made to push the games but instead the film franchise.
It did seem like they had some sort of mandate of cross-promotion though, with game monsters/villains appearing from recent games with seemingly no context, like the butcher guy from 5.

That sounds very unlikely user
Also are you implying that to be gay he has to constantly mention he's gay?
Alucard being gay still works in the games he was already in without a rewrite

1 was a great introduction, 2 was okay and has some nice setups but also some problems, haven't watched 3 yet but heard it was shit.

lmao you guys are so mad

Anger is the correct response to this stupid shit.

>rape scene
If SJWs tried to claim a sex scene between a woman and two men was a rape scene you faggots would be foaming at the mouth; but here you are more butthurt than Alucard over a consensual sex scene in which a dude takes it up the ass.

Attached: 317043.jpg (225x350, 41.55K)

Why does everyone say he's gay, when it's clear he was just taken advantage of due to being an emotional mess at the time?

Attached: 1564040824886.jpg (1920x1080, 246.14K)

>And that was a stupid business move too.
Yes? It's just a business decision that is already understood because why make a completely new property that has a higher chance to fail when you can cover it with the identity of another series to increase the chances of it doing well? Yes it's dumb for a number of reasons but this isn't some kind of secret thought process.

The movies were filled with a bunch of RE stuff whether it made sense or not. Capcom still had some say on the matter.

kys faggot

All vampires are gay user, is part of their lore

The Resident Evil games were not dead at the time of the movies, so you could easily argue by simply promoting the name it was effective cross promotion.
Meanwhile Castlevania gets a shitload of attention through Smash and the Netflix show and Konami doesn't capitalize on it at all. Reminds me of when Konami released a Busou Shinki (robot girl toyline) anime... right after they discontinued the toyline.

globo homo is part and parcel of every modern show

>but instead we got Warren "the church is always evil all the time" Ellis.

Have you fucking watched season 3 because the religious section is specifically Dracula's cult. Humans are corruptible no matter where from and usually the most corruptible hide in institutions that command respect and power. I can't believe how many people fail to get the wolf in sheep's clothing adage

False
Vampire males would have sex with human females all the time according to balkan folklore

Fuck you Anne Rice

Seems like different people have different opinions on whether it was rape or not.

I've been in some emotional messes in my time and never managed to get bummed

Well, one thing they got right for sure.

Attached: Stoned.jpg (1024x576, 114.84K)

According to Anne Rice none of the vampires she wrote was gay, even though Lestat fucked everything with a pulse and Armand was getting fucked by the vampire that created him.

It got really shitty action figures.
I mean really shitty. I liked the first two seasons so I was a prime target and goddamn they are awful.

>people getting triggered by Alucard getting dick
Vampires have gone both ways since the beginning of the myth itself. It wasn't much of a surprise.

Didn't everyone already reached this same conclusion when Season 1 aired? Or were you ok with all the previous lore rape until Alucard took a dick up his ass.

I really don't see your point, the business decision is STUPID because the adaptation could instead serve as an elaborate commercial prequel or spin off tying into the games to get more people to buy the games. Part of why these adaptations are poor is the fact that they aren't made with this very obvious and common sense business strategy in mind and are instead just creating a new audience who won't buy the games, further segmenting the franchise and not properly forming any kind of cohesion throughout it.

Yes, we get it. Read the fucking threads, this excuse is being parroted non-stop.

False

Ok zoomer. It's the definition of busy.
Why does it have to be windy?
Why is there lightning striking if it's not even raining?
What's with the stupid skull popping out?
Why does the cross shine?
The whole gif is an exercise in pointlessness.

Konami literally does not know what they are doing.

God you SJWs are fucking retarded.

Fans know what netflix is going to do, but making a main character from one of the best games ever created gay for the sake of pandering is cranking the faggotry to 11. Of course people are going to be upset.

Attached: 1576010295073.jpg (600x900, 101.28K)

Calling that scene rape is like a woman crying rape because she regretted having sex after going through a bad break-up.

All anime is terrible and for faggots. Grow up and stop watching cartoons

Attached: BNh0REkCEAAqbJd.jpg (600x450, 37.89K)

Why would konami care about the games when their pachinkos make them more money for less effort?

Yeah but aren't we lead to believe that's valid now?
