Yes. The story can essentially be summed up in 4 sentences

>You follow bad hooded man who is apparently the reason the dragon attacked for 80% of the game

>You kill dragon, take back your heart, and become God eventually, which is what he was testing you for
That's literally it. There's nothing more to this. There's a lot of lore that you get from talking to npc's and the world design, but they're really inconsequential to the story overall.

If I were any Capcom fan I would start a petition to stop these shows.

They're going to make essentially a new story with some ties to the original, the arisen, the dragon, probably the cycle.
You can't make an entire series out of Dragon's Dogma obviously so of course it will have original scenarios and characters.

Much like you can't make an entire series out of a guy storming a castle and fighting dracula.

It's a deeply flawed game but with a lot of good ideas that could allow a sequel to be great which is why everybody wants one.

Dragon's Dogma doesn't have any interesting characters though. They can create whatever the fuck they want here.
