What is a "sniper rifle" exactly? When it comes to mosin (according to what I've learned) it was mass produced and if the tests show it actually shoots straight, manufacturers would just slap some optics on it and call it a sniper rifle. If not, they would just brand some shit on it that means "aim lower" or something.

I'll be honest with you I didn't get very far in terms of missions, 90% of my play time is "I have some guns now, lets go fuck up some bandits or find better guns". I tried working with (I think) the Government a bunch of times but their big mansion bugged the fuck out after 2 or 3 missions and none of my characters could maneuver through it properly. Ever. I think is was a resolution problem or something but that was a time where sucking cunt at RTS games was my focus so I got frustrated pretty quick and haven't gone back. All I remember from the Army Base mission is getting a radio that did the typical "this is a pseudo stats menu but the game doesn't really support that you have a nice 'conversation' with the radio for 15 minutes to do fuckall" deal, wasn't worth it to me at the time as it was near the end of the run, if you can put it off I'd say do it, at least until you've got enough grenades to turn it into a hole in the ground.

Back when the mosin was designed the standard bolt action rifle was the standard infantry weapon that pretty much anyone would use. It wasn't specifically designed for very precise long range usage

There is a variant of the mosin called the M1891 "Dragoon" rifle which was designed for dragoons, IE mounted cavalry. Judging by the picture I'm going to assume thats the finnish model, the m/24 "lotta rifle." That was designed for accuracy, which, I GUESS, could be called a "sniper" rifle. A mosin nagant is a rifle series, however the most common type of mosin is the Model 1891/30. It's pretty much what you see everyone buying. Everyone has this one. It was produced in world war 2 and is basically the 'just in case' rifle.

Pretty much; note there are "civilians" but there didn't seem to be a penalty for killing them, nor any particular benefit to keeping them alive. But I was thinking short term, maybe they serve as entertainers or something, maybe they do nothing.
