Is it good? Mainly concerned atlbout the dpad.
Controllers
>Here's your controller bro
just don't buy third party controllers, end of discussion
especially ones that are $50. thats the price of a regular controller.
At that point, why not just buy an xboner controller?
The real question is if the gyro is as good, which I doubt
Might as well just get a ps4 controller and a adapter. I hear decent things about the 8bitdo controllers though but I’ve never looked much at them
I already own a pro controller and other than the general comfort am pretty disappointed with the dpad and non-analog triggers. Didn't think they would be a big deal to me prior to purchasing, but they are.
Specifically for use on switch. I already use ds4 for pc.
Ah I'm seeing now you meant an adapter for the switch. Do they work well? Any extra latency added?
I trust in the PS4 gyro.
It's got that, and I wish it could directly interface with windows 10. I hate this shaky shit and I'm irritated that this jank is still around now. Part of me wouldn't have it any other way.
I bought one of those. Held up nicely for a month, and up to that point I was really happy with it, but then it developed an issue where it would randomly ghost input "up" on the d-pad once a minute or so. Flipping between firmware updates or resetting it back to factory settings didn't fix it, and after looking around online it looks to be a common problem that particular line of controllers develops. I'm not sure what a good alternative is though, most switch controllers first and third party have terrible d-pads. A PS4 adapter may be the better option.
best general use controller I've ever used.dead serious
>Is it good?
Not for $50 fucking dollars it's not.
50 bucks for that piece of shit?
MOOOODS
considering the millions 1st parties put into R&D for their controllers, its asinine to buy 3rd party trash like this.
This shit is legit. I actually like it now better now after a while and you can almost connect it everywhere with bluetooth
>He thinks 1st party nintendo controller have a higher quality with its drifting sticks and terrible dpad.
Yikes
its a pretty good for a 3rd party controller. most people hate it just because its popular.
you can always just return it if you dont like it
Couldn't be any worse than the dpad on the official pro controller, its total shit
>considering the millions 1st parties put into R&D for their controllers
so explain the JoyCon drift then.
Cant be worse than the official nintendo one. If i were you i would just get a ps4 or xbox controller and one of those adapters to use on the switch
It's only slightly cheaper than the actual pro controller. Why wouldn't you just get that.
Never buy third party
Because its dpad is terrible
>The real question is if the gyro is as good, which I doubt
I have both and the 8bitdo controller is actually slightly better for gyro.
>t. played splatoon 2 for over 3000hours
And why would I think this one would be better?
>buying 3rd party controllers that cost almost as much as the first party ones
I've got the NES30 and I use it for all sorts of platforming games on the switch.
Literally better than the pro controller.
shit happens faggot
the d-pad itself is great, it's the placement that is the problem. i bought pic related for a really good price and it's like night and day playing 2D games
>bottom symmetrical
>8bitdo
>$50
Just get a Switch Pro Controller or get the Mayflash Adapter and use a Wii Classic Controller or Wii U Pro controller...
>Wii Classic Controller or Wii U Pro controller.
Do these even exist anymore? Not used, of course, that shit is worse than shady 3rd party.
because literally every other manufacturer other than nintendo knows how do design a dpad
I just ended up getting the official SNES pad for games I can get away with using just the d-pad. It's not ideal since there's no analog sticks but it's better for 2D games than that shitty original Switch Pro Controller's d-pad.
Still disgusts me how they went from literal perfection with the Wii U Pro to utter garbage with the Switch's
Nintendo made the best dpad of all time though.
Bro I don’t want to ruin the fun but this is a blue board.
I've used some of their controllers before honestly they where worth it. I would like to buy this one but for $50 I would expect to be able to use it on my PS4 as well as all that other shit.
That said, 8bitdos road are usually pretty legit.
I'd say try and find one used if you are concerned.
Disgusting flat animu face ruins it.
No B or Start and Select button ruins it. Better to just exchange it for store credit.
you said that because you didn't owned a vita, and that is perfectly understandable
>other than the general comfort am pretty disappointed with the dpad and non-analog triggers
I've had mine for about 6 ish months. I didn't have a problem with the dpad until about a week or two ago. Has yours degraded at all?
But why did they abandon it?
Cheaper parts. That's the reason the Switch d-pad is so shit because they changed how they made how the pad and the rocker pads underneath interact to save money on parts.
Lasted me as long as my Wii U Pro before it started malfunctioning here and there.
You virgins need to stop sucking the old Dpads dick so much.
That thing looks so uncomfortable
>Cheaper parts
Except the parts in a joycon are more expensive due to their smaller size.
In fact they sell them at a loss.
I actually do own a vita and while it feels quite nice I'm not a fan of the PS dpad structure.
you can't get a good pad on a controller with sticks. i strongly suggest you get stickless controller if you want a solid pad
It's actually really comfortable to hold if you have large hands. It's just to d-pad is a bit stiff and sometimes have trouble making it read the 'up and 'right direction
>if you have large hands.
By the looks of it that would only make it worse, and it doesn't help that the analogs are so close together.
How well do the Power A gamecube-style switch controllers work compared to a proper pro controller or a real gamecube controller run through an adapter?
I heard the adapter and real gamecube controller has a lot of input lag compared to a switch controller, but I'm used to the gamecube format for smash bros.
i have an 8bitdo sf30 pro and the d-pad makes me want bore out my eyeballs with a hand cranked drill, even with the "fixes" you see online, don't waste your fucking money
Holy shit.. an actual legit post on this piss board. Good topic OP and good question.
how hard is it to install joycon shells? want to install a dpad shell so handheld mode isnt a pain anymore
Wut? The dpad is fine. Problem with mine is this shit start to drifting for some fucking reason.
Not very.
I had those ghost inputs but I found that they happen because the analog sticks need to be manually calibrated every time you turn the thing on. Unless yours is actually broken I'd go have a look, it seems like something people would overlook easily.
I've had mine for half a year now and I'm using it over my DS4, it's solid as fuck.
either you have a more recent model, you got lucky, or you just don't realize the problem with the controller, and that's fine
but 8bitdos are /notorious/ for having incredibly sensitive diagonals that result in a ton of accidental inputs. it's something you wouldn't notice in a lot of games, but it makes certain other games unplayable
I had an 8bitdo snes replica it was unironically as solid as snes. The problem isnt the pad itself, but the fact it got phased out with later system updates. My switch stopped reading it at all even after update the pad's firmware. This was like a year ago though so it might be different now.
