>this medium should never evolve beyond children's entertainment
Why? Should all movies be capeshit and nothing more? What does the addition of a fucking input device change between video games and other forms of art?
Why would anyone play a video game that isn’t fun?

MUH NARRATIVE
MUH GAMEPLAY FROM 2007
okay so we've been over this before but when he says "we don't use the word 'fun'" he's not insinuating that ND literally has a "no fun allowed" policy (as if they go around punishing people who smile) or that they're actively trying to make their game as boring as possible on purpose to piss off pro Yas Forums gamers but simply that they prefer to use different adjectives such as "engaging" or "exciting" to more accurately encapsulate the dark themes of the game
i.e. beating a man to death with a nailed club in a graphic way might not be described as "fun" to the average player (non-edge lords)but is still surreal enough to hold their attention and immerse them in the story
The same reason you'd watch a movie that isn't entertaining or listen to music that doesn't sound good.
To make some sort of point and/or to be a pretentious hipster.
I like to play games like Hotline Miami, Getting Over It and Ape Out because they're frustrating.
Every leftist needs to be rounded up and killed.

aw man, you found me out
See Fun is the only thing that matters with vidya. Believing that vidya can be worthwhile without fun is like saying that food can be good even if it tastes like shit.
