Roes and Femlanders normally look like fridges.
The Nier outfit adds some curves, which makes them actually look appealing for once.

But Lalafell were already all curves. Just a fucking potato-sack sized oval. You can't make them any rounder without them turning into sphere, so the 2B outfit has nothing to work with.
This is why, assuming Square Enix has a new FF MMO in the planning stages, they should make the short race less "potato" and more "butternut squash" shaped like the Bravely characters.

I need someone to treat me like a snivelling retard and baby me on using the FAR mod. I have no idea if it's working correctly. it's supposed to fix the low res effects like ambient occlusion and bloom but they still look pixelated and artifact-y? it's also recommended to turn AA off when using ambient occlusion since it has it's own form of AA built in and having both breaks the game but it still looks like an ugly jaggy mess

If you don't get the prompt to enable the FAR mod's on-screen display settings upon starting the game (pic related), the mod's not working.
It's a bit odd; on some machines, the installer works fine, while on a couple devices I had to use manual installation method.

The AO does indeed include a fine SMAA effect. Enabling the Anti-Aliasing option (= MSAA) breaks LOD switching transitions and such, plus it is very heavy.

yeah that came up and i did all the steps of changing them and restarting the game but it still doesn't look great.

is using AO over AA the be all end all or can i skip out on AO in favour of AA? i know that it's not my specs that are the problem

would reinstalling FAR fix anything? ive also got the high-res textures pack and the LOD fix patch installed, though i dont know if they're actually working since this is my first time playing and i've only finished the tutorial area.

IMO the AO is a nicer effect, and its post-processing based AA is notably lighter weight, plus smoothens out jaggies and noise on things the MSAA can't touch (ie. textures, particles...).

Just out of curiosity, how are the in-game settings? The screen mode IS set to "Full screen", no?
Can you show me what the FAR's settings look like? If the "Window Resolution" and "Override Resolution" do not match, you're not running the game at its best.
Your screenshot still looks like it's running at sub-1080p.

One person I know played it and didn't like it, but so far it seems like a much more blatant member-berries than Ivalice was. We'll see if round two fixes it and gives people a reason to give a shit about the raid beyond "I clapped! I clapped when I saw the 9s!"

If not for the dwarves it would have been even worse than it was, because at least they grounded it a modicum in the first/Hydaelyn as opposed to just entirely Nier automata universe. It's mind boggling because it's easy as fuck. Just have it refer back to Amaurot. Hell, have androids be the final attempt of the Amaurotines at creating souls from nothing. Now you have it tie to Nier and to XIV.

I don't expect it to be fixed though because Taro comes across as much of an auteur diva as Kojima. But yeah the ass gear was nice and if we are lucky we'll get the combat yorha armor.

I'm a bit worried about that AMD Radeon card of yours though. It would not be the 1st time AMD shits the bed while Nvidia has zero issues.
My humble GTX 1060 certainly got no problems with FAR, and runs the game at pretty steady 60fps at High settings, using FAR with G.I. set to Medium.
