the trailer didn't show anything
Cause no one gives a fuck
not much to talk about, but I'm excited. they're amazing at atmosphere, just hope it will have better voice acting than SOMA. both amnesia games were fantastic in that department
youtu.be
People are slow
I'm fucking hype for it. Machine for Pig left a bad tastes in my mouth so knowing Frictional is having their core team on this one is exciting
>game takes place is Algeria
>Daniel's orb was found in Algeria
If this is some sort of tie in to The Dark Descent that's kinda hype, but I'd like it if it stayed away from it
The areas they showcased so far looked cool
Would've preferred if they stayed in the same century as the first game, but who knows, maybe they will pull it off. Still haven't played Penumbra, is it good and worth playing?
First game was good.
Second was outsourced but still decent.
SOMA was flawed but their best game yet.
Penumbra Overture and Black Plague are pretty aight. Requiem feels like an after-thought
>lmao explosive ketchup bottles
Speaking of century, the trailer showed a plane crash with radio support. What time period could the game be taking place?
FUUUUCK im replaying TDD now. Im gonna try to get the Hard Mode achievement and maybe replay SOMA to tie me over
pretty excited
the ARG seemed completely unrelated though so thats a bit disapointing
No im pretty sure some of it is. Especially the letter. Im pretty sure Tasi has some sort of spooky-evil thing inside her head that feeds off her fear, based on the Steam desc and the content of the letter
''There is an itching behind my eyes. As if a beetle burrows there, in the folds of my brain, boring its way in, mandibles tearing at grey matter. As if a gnarled finger has been pushed into my skull, a broken fingernail working into my thoughts. I want to reach in with a needle to scratch it. Or perhaps a piece of wire. Through the tear-duct, threading through the lacrimal canal.
Thread-like black worms swim in my eyes. When I think about them they are agitated and start to thrash around. They know I am scared. And it makes them worse.
If I hold myself still. If I easy my mind, if I empty my head and try not to be afraid of... Then the itching fades to the tickling of a feather. I've tried filling myself with the notes of a song, or the colours of a beautiful picture, but it doesn't work.
Only emptiness gives me any
I wish I had my gun.''
Because Amnesia is boring hide and seek horror that killed the genre back in 2010.
Eh... the first game was cool.
Amnesia 2 was out sourced and kind of crappy.
SOMA was much better and they should have done some sort of follow up instead of another Amnesia.
This and it's the game that started the thread of horror games becoming a walking/hide and seek sim.
Just because its a different kind of survival horror doesn't mean its shit
I personally don't care whether or not I get to kill the monsters, as long as its scary
Machine for Pigs could've been so much better and im STILL SO FUCKING MAD
>no inventory system/sanity meter
>le wacky infinite lantern that alerts you when a SPOooPY moment is going to happen
>monster were barely a threat cuz health regens
>shitty ass puzzles
>linear as FUCK
The setting was based too. I hope someone mods it someday and adds some of those elements back to it

Post the trailer you dumb nigger
What even are those orbs actually?
>literal babby game
OH shit I thought this was a joke but its actually real
im hype bros
There was a hard mode?
Games never really gave much a deeper explanation for them. All we know is that they got great power. So far they've been shown to open doors to other worlds and give people Clairvoyance (which is why Daniel can see stuff glowing in the dark, like tinderboxes)
It got added in 2018
Pretty much makes the enemies tougher, no music plays when they spot you, insanity kills you at 100% and you have to save manually with tinderboxes
Got burned out by Machine For Pigs. It wasn't made by them but it was apparently the direction they wanted to go.
Are the amnesia games worth playing? I'm not a fan of horror games but I've heard those are more of psychological horror than anything, which I kinda like more.
They probably had to cut corners to meet the deadline
>Rebirth
>Female main character
>From store page "And so you crouch in the dark, trying to stop the fear rising, trying to silence what lies within you."
Confirmed you play as a pregnant woman.
Frictional pretty much let The Chinese Room do what they wanted
TCR is pretty much dead now by the way, they fired all staff in 2018, and have been quiet since
Is that a giant skull?
Machine for Pigs wasn't bad it was just not as good as Dark Descent.
it was bad. if it released under another title (as it should have, it was not an amnesia game) nobody would have given a shit
Baal's Balls.
>play horror game
>get spooked
>run around like a retard and get killed twice in a row
>all the atmosphere and immersion lost, can play the game like its nothing
So don't do step 3? Why ruin the game for yourself?
They are first and foremost horror adventure games with puzzles, there really isn't combat. So if you don't like horror games it may be a hard sell. But they did inspire a lot of other similar games.
I played and loved the first one, same with my friends. They are not very long, either.
E-celeb horror games are out of fashion now.
Battle royale is what electronic surrogate siblings are into nowadays. Reminder that the man who popularized these shitty horror games, pewdiepie himself, went from an insufferable juvenile twat, to an insufferable grown up twat getting cancelled for saying nigger and groveling from a mass-shooter's shoutout.
THAT much time has passed.
The main problem with frictional is that they have a shitton of good ideas but their games always have shit gameplay.
its the way in which i beat souls games
it werks
The genre was already dead in 2010. Amnesia revived it, even if it wasn't in a form you preferred.
>bases opinions on games based on ecelebs who’ve played them
Wew lad
>saves the horror genre
Not my fault devs are so creatively bankrupt they literally invented games whose fiscal viability are based solely on being played by ecelebs.
think its just the perspective
They look like a bunch of dweebs its great
poor's man outlast.
>DUDE CRAZY PPL XD: the game
>better than amnesia
>Literally invented for ecelebs
Which ones? None. Every single popular horror game that got taken over by ecelebs was mostly by pure accident.
it started alright when you were in the cool big house, some great atmosphere if you ask me.
but it really is a downward spiral in terms of quality.
good voice acting tho
Hopefully it's a return to form for amnesia given the success of SOMA. They seem to be getting better at the craft over time at least which is something a lot of modern developers struggle with
Yeah the atmosphere was great, but the game itself was underwhelming overall.
>tfw Oswald fed orphans sausages made out of rich-people
it was pretty based
Horror games like Amnesia and FNAF blow up ecelebs, at least initially, not the other way around. People don't want to play scary games so they prefer to watch others play them.
the enemies were stupid though
i ran through it blind and i dont think i died once
Nah, it was awful. I couldn't even finish it I was so bored. Couldn't understand any of the notes either thanks to them running every word through a thesaurus to sound smart and pretentious.
Amnesia was pure shit. Its just as bad as machine for pigs but just with less gameplay.
I can't wait for more retarded hide and seek horror with no weapons!
I never liked Amnesia that much but I did like SOMA
Maybe their other project will appeal to me more, or maybe they'll be taking this in a different direction.
How would killing the monster make the game any better? Being defenseless adds a fear factor to an already dangerous environment
If you want to shoot a bunch of zombies with a machine guy go play RE5 or something
But that just makes the game boring since there's no decision making on whether or to kill or just to run. There's always a hiding place to go to, so its just not scary.
balance of resources or means of defense is 100 times better than "LMAO HIDE IN A CLOSET TILL THE KILLBOX WALKS PAST OOPSIE WOOPSIE IT SAW YOU RUN AWAY"
its why alien isolation is a better game than amnesia is
Fair enough, I see your point. I tend to prefer playing horror games where I don't have to attack 'cuz im always scared to mess up the shot/hit
You however fuck right off with alien isolation. That game is incredibly unbalanced with the fucking RNG chance of the alien to show up any damn time
The alien showing up at any time is better than scripted encounters. Sure its not the best since you might not have enough resources to defend yourself, but it's still better than Amnesia.
There's a fuck ton of scripted encounters in Alien as well are you dumb
Scripted sequences are used to set up events in both games to make the player react in certain way. Like the whole closet sequence in Amnesia where the monster enters the room after you pick up the item
It doesn't have to be mindboggling to be scary. The first time through you won't even know its going to happen
better than amnesia
