I played cross before trigger and love both of them. It's a damned shame they don't have anyone making music as wonderful as both of these games anymore

I recognize the game's flaws and acknowledge that by many metrics Trigger is the better game, but something about Cross really struck a chord with me.
The music, art, and often melancholic NPC dialogue has stuck with me even after all these years. Also, the tropical setting reminds me of when I was a kid and me and a friend would go row around a nearby lake and find little beaches and such.

Aside from Xenoblade 2, are there any other games that start off as fantasy before curving into straight scifi? That shit turns me on.
Admittedly I probably should've seen it coming considering Cross was a sequel to Trigger, but the dead sea segment was still kino.

My only problems with CC was the unnecessary connections to Trigger and the of useless characters, everything else is fine.
Cross should have been a standalone game, unrelated to trigger.

As a Chrono Trigger iteration? It's horrible. It doesn't capture the style, the feeling, you can't really connect with the characters. They changed the characters artstyle and so on.

It doesn't even make sense with Trigger.

But by its own... it's good.

That fight really isn't hard, people just let the field become all white somehow. Keep your HP topped off and use heavy hitting black-elements and he goes down easily.

CC shits on CT, has too many useless characters, and is just bad in general. Maybe it would be better if it didn't shit on all of the CT characters and story. Still hoping we get a real CT sequel with the original cast where they unfuck the alternate whatever that CC created.

I remember him hitting like a truck in general despite field effects but maybe I'll have to replay it again. Also the fact that an ordinary man in overalls pulls off such an attack & can be 'that one boss' is baffling

I played through CC for the first time a few years ago and I don't recall this fight causing me any grief. The game was relatively easy iirc but I did use a guide. Glenn with those two swords is an absolute monster.
I also liked CC more than CT

I prefer Trigger over Cross but that's because Trigger's flaws are less egregious than Cross's, so as an overall experience it's more solid imo. Cross on the other hand has such a unique and beautiful aesthetic I can't help but love it, also the battle system was more interesting.
