Frankly I don't care about what fighters get added at this point, every fighter I could want is already in the game as either a fighter or assist trophy (I lament the relegation of Bomberman and Isaac to the position of ATs, but at least they're in the game fighting in some capacity).

They can add whatever fighters they want at this point, I just want some modes from the past added back in, especially Smash Run with local and online multiplayer. That's all that I'm really campaigning for at this point.

No seriously, where did you all go? I haven't fought a single Byleth online anymore in the past 2 weeks and they never get mentioned anymore in Smash threads. Is Byleth the most forgotten Smash character in the history of Smash? It's pretty sad.

I fought more Byleths on his release day than I fought Diddy's in my entire time playing the online he's not THAT unpopular.

Can't speak for everyone, but Byleth has become a main of mine since they came out. Really like how they handle and fight. They certainly could look more interesting, that's for sure, but as a fighter, I've enjoyed them.

Hell, I can't remember the last time I ever fought a Daisy. Byleth is far from the least popular fighter choice in the game.

Obviously Byleth didn't have a lot of fans expecting them to be in smash. FE fans wanted anyone else and so did smash fans. The people you see going around making hoes mad memes are just causing drama for drama's sake. Byleth does have some real fans and the character is a step of from the rest of the FE cast, but they're easily the most forgettable character on the roster.

I'm not much of a FE fan, but I feel like Lyn has been a big want for the series for a long time. Of course Lyn is an assist trophy, so that makes her a pretty hard fighter to add, but they could have removed her assist trophy or replace it with another FE fighter with the same effect as an assist trophy.

Oh I don't disagree. And hey, I like Three Houses a lot. I just think that if the goal was to go for an interesting character, then maybe drawing from the latest Fire Emblem game wasn't the route to go. And I even like fighting as Byleth, they work well for how I fight in Smash, but they're simply not that interesting at the end of the day.

Hector is just the "bro" type. Marth, Lucina, Roy, Ike, etc all share the same personality: Gotta protect everyone. While he also has that, its mainly due to his royal blood, and at heart, he just wants to drink a beer with Eliwood and mow the lawn afterwards. He seems like the fun guy you wish you had as your best friend.

Ephraim is just an anime protagonist on steroids. Its hilarious how insane the gary-stu levels are on him. It reaches a point of parody, which I enjoy, simliar to One Punch man if that makes sense.

Sakurai didn't choose Byleth, Nintendo did. He was pretty clear that the DLC fighters were not his choice, and he was even opposed to more Fire Emblem fighters.

No that logic makes no sense because Pokemon your avatar is just the tool you use to interact with the Pokemon, the series is NAMED after the fucking Pokemon and the design bible even explicitly says things like "don't have humans fight because it takes attention away from the Pokemon". In FE games the Lord is always the main actor in the story.

Yes, everyone had Unique B-Special moves, but thats that. They all copied assets from other fighters. Joker for example uses basic moves from Cloud and Link, etc. From what I saw, that was the case with every DLC.

As a Disclaimer, I havent bought the DLC since I dont like any of the 5 characters introduced. The best DLC character we got so far was the fucking plant.

I wouldn't be opposed to Dixie Kong joining the fight either. The game needs more females, and she definitely has a unique enough personality and moveset to fit in.

A lot of characters use the same basic movements of other characters with minor changes, there's only so many ways you can move limbs without it looking ludicrous.

Every DLC fighter plays uniquely, even if they have individual moves that are derivative of other fighters.
Byleth is soulless because his moveset doesn't accurately reflect him as a character, or at least what little character he has.

I didn't say he was a victim. I simply said he didn't choose the DLC fighters, and publicly stated that he didn't think the game needs more Fire Emblem fighters. I get that you can't put a face to the actual person that said that Byleth needed to be the next fighter, but that doesn't mean that Sakurai is solely or even largely to blame. He's just following orders at that point.

You're probably right, he probably could have made a big stink about it and objected to it, and to that end you can blame him, but don't act like Byleth is all his fault when it clearly is not.

I understand you now what you meant with soulless, however, does Byleth has ANY personality at all? I only played the game up to Chapter 11 or 12 (the month before timeskip) before I got so bored with it, but from what I played, there was NOTHING in this character.
I wouldnt know what to look for in a "soulfull" moveset for him.
