You can buy a 12 core 24 threaded CPU for $430

I just bought a 3600, thank you.
I better it runs Handbrake like a fucken champ
and you can buy a xbox series x that's stronger for $500
Cool I can pay my rent and electric bill or my electric, phone, and internet bill and have enough money to order out
Name one game that requires 12 core CPU to run
Hehe :3
>Buying parts BEFORE a new console gen drops.
>buying a cpu with the same IPC as a 5yo intel chip
>for gaming
>at a higher price than the old i7s at launch
whats its like finally entering 2015 Punjabi Pete?
how is a console stronger than a cpu?
also sex has 4 less cores
Dwarf fortress
>posting in a pc hardware thread without the slightest ideas how CPUs work
Shintel eternal 14nm++++++++ quad core pajeet reporting for duty, I see.
Based 3600 bro
After the new console gen drops, I'm obviously not going to play on PC
I don't need to know how CPUs work, I know how economics work. A year or two after the gen drops you'll be able to build a PC for like 700 bucks that'll last you a decade.
yea, because of magic!
my 9700 is just fine with my 2080 :)
Intel's newer have the same IPC as their 5 year old ones as well. They're just clocked higher to compensate for their lack of improvement in that area.
How do you feel about the new consoles, lads?
They are pretty high up there in terms of performance compared to current PCs. Better than the last gen.
8 Zen 2 Cores is high end even for current gaming PCs and the GPU part will be on the level of a RX 5700 (XT) with RDNA2, which is also pretty fucking good. Also SSDs
I dont know how they'll be able to pack this shit for 400$/€
Based and same
that's a lot of cpu for any gpu. the bottle neck will be at the gpu in most cases for everyone.
Yes, as technology gets more advanced shit typically gets cheaper.
Intel would be glad to sell you 4 cores 4 thread for 400$ today
don't fall for the 3900x meme lads
4000 series is right around the corner. prices will drop for 3000. just hang in there bros. if you want, 3600(x) is fine for a stopgap, shit is only 180 bucks and minimally less than 3900
>4000 series is right around the corner.
WHAT the fuck
It will be THE VERY FUCKING END of 2020 atleast. If we are unlucky, they will push out server chips first end of 2020 and desktop will come early 2021.
Stop spreading misinformation. They had a presentation just a day ago
series is right around the corner.
AMD just said that Zen 3 will be coming in Q1 2021 at the very latest. If they roll it out more quickly, it'll probably be coming to desktop around Q4 of this year.
>he didn't hear about the shortages caused by coronavirus
Linustechtips told me I have to run to the store and buy right now! Or else they'll run out of parts!!!
>4000 series
better to wait for Ryzen 5000 on a new socket with DDR5 ram
Stop dreaming
Q1 2021 could mean march 31st, which is over a whole year away
Do you really need a new CPU right this second? Unless you're in the Congo and are still on Pentium there's literally no reason not to wait for the next gen. CPUs are a part that you can easily hold off on until a new gen launches and thereby use your money efficiently.
So what? If anything the new consoles will cause the prices to go up when AMD needs to divert production to the new consoles which use the exact same series of chips.
What is your point? You can always wait for the next gen.
Ryzen 4000 will probably be around 10-15% faster in games compared to Ryzen 3000. If you need a CPU, just buy one now. There's literally no reason to wait another year
If you "w8 for next gen!!!!!!" around the launch of a new gen, then you wait 2-3 years. If you wait less than 1 year and time your upgrade with the latest parts then you've hit the sweet spot.
Rumor has it that Ryzen 4000 is going to be a more incremental upgrade to AMD's lineup, like going from 1000 to 2000. Plus, the 4000 series is supposed to be the last set of chips on the AM4 socket before they switch their platform to a new socket with DDR5 support.
what the fuck are you talking about. Are you drunk?
AMD releases new CPUs every ~15 months since the start of Ryzen. Consoles wont change that fact
Ok, why would I need one though?
My Ryzen 5 2600 is still going strong, so I won't be getting that for some time, thanks.
>just wait for X bro
>just wait for Y bro
>j-just wait for Z bro
disgusting bugwoman
And despite it's cores / threads it's a joke compared to the i9 9900k.
You do know people do things on their computer other than game right?
>clock rates are 800mhz higher
>barely beats it
youtube.com
umm, sweaty?
>tfw still gaming on a FX-6300 and GTX 750ti
The fact that I can ask, "What do I even need that for" says enough.
Depends entirely on the task. Anything that utilizes more than 8 cores is an instant win for 3900X.
>built my PC in 2014 when i was a literal child with a windfall my family got
>spent $999 before tax on an i7
feels bad
I was considering upgrading my 2700x to this but I don't really need more power, especially not for games
>Anything that utilizes more than 8 cores is an instant win for 3900X.
Oh yeah like.....and.....and.....
umm, did you see ANY benchmarks?
Anything Vulcan. Good to know you have idea what you're talking about, just like a good intel consoomer.
are you baiting or just stupid?
how is ~8% slower _IN GAMES ONLY_ being a joke?
Most games don't even utilize 4 cores correctly.
0.02$ has been deposited on your Intel account, goy.
You're completely delusional if you think the next consoles are going to be stronger than a zen2 + 2060/5700
To be honest if you play AAA almost every game does make use of 4 or more cores. But that's for fags so yea 4 cores is good enough to play good games.
>Caring about console garbage in any year
PRETTY CRINGE BRO
>still runs games worse than an old school i7 4 core with high clocks
Yeah, most games were also made before 2018.
Your point?
Just buy a Core2Duo brah, that's all you need.
>underdog good
>leading company (for good reasons) bad
>ARGHHH MY COUNTER STRIKE GO BENCHMARKS WARRGHHHH
Intel shill
Actually, Zen 2 beats Intel on CSGO, it's why everyone stopped using it in benchmarks, lmao.
I'll take the bait.
This was before avalanche of "patches" for Intel CPUs that lowered performance.
Also we have 4th gen ryzen on horizon and intel still sticks to magic 14nm.
And i say it as someone who has Intel CPU in his toaster.
Well to be fair, first gen Ryzen was a huge step forward. Is there anyway you could compare the 3600/3700x/3900x/3950x to the current Intel offerings :)
Why do you post your face aren't you afraid of doxxing?
There's always something new coming out in the next 6-12 months.
Ryzen 3x already blows intel out of the water in literally all categories though. Your shitty image was correct years ago but Intel has unfortunately stagnated too much and are now on the backburner with AMD taking the lead.
Not even /g/ is retarded enough to fall back on 3 year old arguments in tech. Only on Yas Forums do you find people so out of the loop that they think AMD still dominates the low end and the CPUs are bad for emulation and gaming in general.
>have a cheap-ass ASRock 320M DGS motherboard
>just bought a Ryzen 5 3600
Support list says it should be fine, so fingers crossed.
>(((for good reasons)))
>JUST
>KEEP
>WAITING
Yas Forums is low IQ board compared to /g/entoo.
>Using your PC for nothing but games
Buy a console.
I built a PC last month, I'll upgrade the graphics card when the next GPU generation (or two) comes out after the consoles come out.
NOOOOOOOOOOO YOU CANT JUST MAKE FASTER CHIPS THAN US ADD 15 MORE CORES RIGHT FUCKING NOW
i just bought a 3600.
i honestly notice no difference between the 4670k i had before and the 3600.
thats exactly what the consoles will be using
user I . . .
think you will need to update bios before your board will see the CPU
same
>I'll upgrade the graphics card when the next GPU generation (or two)
Provided you didn't buy budget-tier hardware you shouldn't have to upgrade for far longer. It's been 6 years since the 980 came out and it still maxes out anything you throw at it on 1080p and probably will keep trucking along for another 4 years.
That's about a 20% performance increase, so unless you're doing heavy workloads which take 30 minutes to complete you probably won't notice much of a difference in daily fast interaction usage.
I already took care of that, actually. It’s the same socket, same power draw as my Ryzen 3 1200, so everything SHOULD work fine, but you never know.
>X
For what purpose? All Ryzen chips are overclockable by default.
having no security flaws nor patches automatically makes it five times as good
>Buying 3600X
Why pay 40$ more to get same performance as 3600?
Dwarf fortress only use one core tho.
