This causes him a fair amount of stress. He gets shit for being "emo," mostly by people who don't understand how teenage mercenaries with abandonment issues might be just a little less than perfectly adjusted. But if you have half a brain and the ability to read between the lines in his internal monologues, he's really a great protag.
