It started out good. S1 did a good job setting up why Dracula would hate humans, what Trevor needed to grow from and into, that Alucard took after his mother's mercy rather than his father's wrath, and what Sypha was doing in town. I don't think it needed to be 2 seasons, the pieces were set and they just had to let it play out. Because S2 ended up jumping between watery shit with a coup no one cares about and nothing at all. And fucking Trevor Belmont didn't even get to resolve the series, Aulcard does. Was Alucard the main character in Trevor Belmont's fucking game?
I haven't seen S3 yet so I can't judge it fairly but it looks like they care now about ticking representation boxes rather than creating consistent characters
