Dark Souls 1 >Legendary, holistic experience that is more than the sum of its parts >Incredible atmosphere >Fantastically paced >Tons of memorable characters >Diverse locations >Unmatched world design >Lots of novel mechanics and features that help the world feel alive >Good lore >Solid build variety >Best title screen and staff roll tracks of all time >2011 jank soul
Dark Souls 2 >Disappointing experience compared to 1 >Movement and combat feel significantly "off" at first >area designs range from very poor to just "decent" >visuals also range, but from "dogshit" to "better than DS1" >Plays it too safe and ends up feeling too much like 1 in the long run >Lots of scuffed hitboxes and poor boss designs, game feels cobbled together >Once you get over all that, it actually has a lot to offer >builds are more varied than 1, lots of content, fun fights, good DLC, tons of variety >fun ARPG romp, esp with friends >still nowhere near as good as 1, feels uninspired and plastic sometimes
Dark Souls 3 >Prepare To Roll >Initially promising experience that gradually becomes predictable and derivative >fan pandering, repeats tired DS1 concepts for the THIRD time, very little originality >plays it extremely safe and turns the series into a more generic hack n slash >guts several of the RPG elements to make them more casual friendly >beloved by zoomers who literally shit on the lore and previous games, and are only interested in pvp >has flashes of genuine, honest brilliance here and there, especially when they decide to be original [Cathedral, Deacons, Aldritch, etc] >visuals initially look fantastic but the cracks start to show - unfinished areas, ALL SURFACES MUST BE SHINY, literal sheer polygonal cutoffs visible, can see through walls, untextured stuff, etc
Miyazaki did not greenlight Ds3 himself however he still put some fine work in directing it. However I still believe his fine passion he had for Ds1 doesnt exist with ds3 because he probably never wanted a ds2 or ds3.
Angel Robinson
What the fuck are you talking about?
James Thomas
simple. it became popular. in a bid to appeal to more players they changed how the game is made and what you can do within it. really its the monkey paw thing. total biscuit was responsible for making it popular on youtube which resulted in a pc port that sold fucking gangbusters. as such the target audience shifted from action rpg fans to literally everyone.
DS1 has the best menu theme but DS3 has the best epilogue
Ryder Foster
what you have to keep in mind is that miyazaki doesn't like sequels, and never really wanted to do sequels in the first place. If you look at every game fromsoft has made since demons souls, it's clear that there's a massive drop in quality with ds2 and 3, while demons, ds1, bloodborne, and sekiro are all great.
jesus christ that dark souls 1 description is too much, it's a pretty good game but this shit is ridiculous
Brandon Adams
>Once you get over all that, it actually has a lot to offer How is this an objective criticism?
It's another "DS2 is ok but the really bad game is DS3" memefest thread
Jacob Jones
>Objective >Criticism Based retard.

Fuck fanboys

You must be 18 and above to post here.

is this the new epic meme?
Brody Hughes
both are me, just trying to fit in with the epic trends
Adam Wright
Don't listen to this guy. Both are actually me.
Ian Walker
these endless threads about how X souls game was the downfall/casualization of the series always make me laugh, because every last one forgets to point out that dark souls itself was a huge step down from demon souls in almost every aspect besides the open world stuff that the devs give up on halfway through the game for the single worst levels in the whole series
Jack Gomez
>all criticism is subjective
David Jackson
Uhh hello, mystery department?
Jeremiah Jenkins
Dark Souls was a huge step up from Demon's Souls in almost every aspect. t. played DeS back in 2009
Jonathan Rodriguez
Lost Izalith was better than all of DS2
Brayden Carter
This but unironically.
Caleb Cox
+I really liked all the Souls games. -I miss Armored Core.
None of the games feel like one another, and good, that would be annoying. Each Souls game has its bullshit and fun mixed in, I dont think its fair to say one is better than the other in any way
Noah Perry
I like all of them but DeS needs a remaster already
Bentley Cook
at least I could stomach playing all of Lost Izalith lol
Jaxson Murphy
made to be a rehash series it had no soul from the start thanks to bamco
you can skip 100% of DaS2 with the uninstall covenant
William Foster
Hello, based department?
Anthony Gomez
Dark Souls (sorry DeS but DaS perfected your ideas and had a seamless world) Bloodborne Sekiro
FromSoft made three great games with satisfying combat systems and interesting settings. DS2 and DS3 are just extras (or really expensive DLCs), not worth a mention.
Brayden Rodriguez
BASED!!!!

Easy to quantify:
DS1: Combat is exciting because it's broken, making you learn how to exploit the game rather than excel mechanically as it, making the game hard but not hard in the traditional sense
DS3: Combat actually works meaning the game has to stand on the shoulders of mechanics alone, in which case you find out the combat is exceptionally boring because skill comes into play rather than trial and error
Or just play Sekiro which is just Dance Dance Swordvulution and memorization where you remove almost all skill, it's no wonder DS1 fans love the game so much
I really hate how Dark Souls 2 has no hitstop. It could have been so much better if only they included like maybe 3-4 frames of hitstop to make hits feel chunkier instead of nonexistent.
Samuel Hill
Dark Souls 3 is the peak of the series, cope harder
Robert Roberts
>rolling >skill DS1 fans hate Sekiro. Only DS3 and BBtards love it.
Kevin Sanchez
What does Demon's Souls have to offer that makes it still worth playing over any of the other titles?
Okay, so a remake would be 60fps. Great. What else? The game would still have the easiest PvE in the series (and some of the easiest bosses in the series as well), with the least amount of weapons and armor sets. Atmosphere? Bloodborne has Demon's Souls beat by a country mile. Level design? Dark Souls 3 and Dark Souls 1 are far above Demon's Souls in the level design category. Covenants and multiplayer? Much better in 1, 2 and 3.
Eli Walker
fall into another demographic you retard.
Matthew Walker
No one said anything about a remake.
