is a good game with great music, unique art design, and arguably the best writing in the series

how the fuck did aya kyogoku go from writing this to writing the animal crossing game with the worst writing?

My last play through of Wind Waker pretty much confirmed Twilight Princess is the better game but it still feels like it's lacking something.

It looks like she wasn't credited as scriptwriter for any game other than TP, so that’s probably the reason.

member wrassling that goron dude over a bowl suspended above lava?
member snowboarding down that mountain to reach the castle?
member how comfy the fishing hole was, and all those lures you could use?
Remember the western town?
member jousting against king bulbin?

bought it, never played it, sold it.

what'd i miss?

TP tried to synthesize OoT's gameplay with the tone of Majora's Mask and it mostly works but doesn't reach the highs or lows or wither game

Bad game

filled with endless filler, shitty over world, boring atmosphere, generic edgy shadow enemies

but hey TP treat it as the next OoT because it has a few good dungeons

atleast windwaker for all its faults tried something new. what did TP do besides being a failed OoT

I had a lot of fun with it.
I would sit on one of those exercise balls and jump out with extra spring whenever i got into combat wailing around the living room doing special moves.

good memories all

actual swimming
heavy weapons
snowboarding
hidden skills
fishing lures
2 non ganon villains
arrow scope
wrestling
canoeing
dragon flying
twin hookshots
talking to animals

I played it pretty recently in sort of a back-to-back marathon of all the 3D Zelda games (excluding Skyward Sword) prior to playing BotW and I came away from it feeling like it was tied with Ocarina of Time as my favorite 3D Zelda. Where the game really shines is simply its scope. It’s a 45+ hour adventure with relatively little padding (looking at you, Wind Waker’s triforce hunt) and some of the most brilliant 3D puzzle design in the entire action-adventure genre. It’s also got a pretty sophisticated story relative to other Zelda games and tells it pretty well. It also has well-written side characters (the Resistance is the best part of the game) that are surprisingly charming and memorable.

The game’s got some admittedly weak parts, though. The little padding that’s there is bad (Tears of Light, the wolf cries, the 3 and a half hour tutorial that opens the game). However, if you manage to stick with it, the aforementioned 45 hour playtime will make those brief and grueling chores seem trivial

everything you mentioned was rubbish that dosnt include hours of mindlessly collecting light orbs and as wolf link.

The worst part of TP was just how dumbed down the game was. heart pieces were to easy to find and everything playing as wolf like was automated from jumping to automatic lock on

Fuck this game

>those dont count

the padding and filler in TP was the worst in the series even with the wolf segments aside your still didnt include the repetitious shadow beast encounters and having to fight skull kid twice in the lost woods and the statue sequences

Its like nintendo wanted to make a long game but lack the ideas and creativity. without the filler its a 10 hour game at best

I like good content yes

Delete this thread

and all of that is good content, so your point is retarded

>Padding and filler worst in the series
>Anything being worse than WW's triforce hunt or SS's fucking third visit to Faron Woods or the three Imprisoned fights

Aka ocarina of time except not good

In retrospect it's probably the second best game in the series after ALttP.

Twilight Princess is to this day the greatest pleb filter in the series

>Anything being worse than WW's triforce hunt
Moot point with the HD version version fixing the trifore hunt even then it was better then TP

so then the question is, gamecube or wii. or is there some newer remaster that beats them all?

>Even then it was better than TP
Nah, you're just a retard who fell for the childish artstyle due to your heavy autism

the HD version did nothing of the sort, it just made it shorter

you still pay tingle, you still have to get each chart, and you have to go and get each chart

I think the problem is that "little filler" is the only thing keeping the game from being dis-proportionally short. Once the Twilight and Bulbins are gone you're really honestly through 70% of the games content.

game that caters to niggers

get each shard*

I never said I liked the art style I dont even like WW much either compared to other zelda game

I just pointed out what trash TP was and like a typical TP fag you deflect back WW

The statue sequences are genuinely fun puzzles. They’re a throwback to the Goriya enemies in Zelda 3. Also calling any of the combat in the game “padding” is nonsense. Combat is half of the game, it’s a given you’re going to do a lot of it.

you didnt point anything out, you just said the good points dont matter because you didnt like other aspects

Because only a fan of WW would be so braindead as to say the Triforce Quest wasn't one of the worst most boring sections in any 3D Zelda game ever.

Are you not aware of Twilight Princess HD...?

I don’t think I agree. There are more dungeons than any other Zelda game, all of them are quite large, and each one has involved scenarios before you even enter the dungeon. That’s how I come to the conclusion that the padding is actually marginal in comparison to the meat of the game.

Great so you didn't play the game

I’m autistic about Link being a southpaw getting retconned in the Wii version of this game, so my recommendation is Gamecube. There’s an HD version for something called the... WiiU? I don't know what that is.

Yes I'm aware there was a Zelda to rival how bad Zelda 2 was

>The statue sequences are genuinely fun puzzles
they were brain dead easy
>Also calling any of the combat in the game “padding” is nonsense. Combat is half of the game
that's the problem the combat was shit killing shadow beasts was lame and involved the same strategy of locking on to kill all of them. the responding enemies during the skull kid fight was terrible and the game makes you do this twice!!

>tfw Twilight Princess and Wind Waker remasters will never be ported to the Switch
Nintendo pls we all know the Switch is nothing more than a rebranded Wii U stop holding out

the combat had the most depth out of basically everything besides SS thanks to the hidden skills, twilight beasts dont make up even half of most encounters, and even then, you can fight them as human link at one point

>locking on to kill all of them
So... the combat in every 3D Zelda game ever made? Again, I insist that calling the combat in a Zelda game “filler” is nonsense. It’s an action adventure game.

If you didn’t like the combat, fine, I found it to be solid.

I'm serious. Compare the level of plot and detail that went into interacting with the Zoras compared to the snow region, returning to the forest or hell even the mostly uneventful trip through the desert. The Sky letter quest has some meat to it but the oddly useless item you get from Ilia makes me think it was moved from a different part of the game to keep you from merely helping Shad straight away.

This game was pretty good, the start though is slow af. Honestly though I quit zelda after that, i mean i'll play Botw but I dont want to play skyward sword.

name ONE

idk I found all of that pretty compelling. helping the wife yeti cook soup was good. this is where I refer back to my comments on the writing. doing the pre-dungeon busywork is made way more tolerable because the NPC interaction is well-written and adds depth to the game world in a way that most other Zelda games don’t with their NPC dialog.

Anyone else enjoy the challenge dungeon? It made me use the magic armor a couple of times

uh, picture not related?

Last good Zelda.

I never played a Zelda game. Which one should I start with?

SS is treated like a 3/10 game despite being a 7/10.

Ocarina of Time for 3D, A Link to the Past for 2D.

Redpilled as fuck. It isn't a great Zelda but it is a decent game as a whole.

The Zelda series would be completely different if this game was not delayed an extra year.

How so?

You know what came out spring of the same year that TP got delayed to? Oblivion. And you know what two games came out exactly one week apart? Skyward Sword and Skyrim. People shortchange the relationship between the two series' when they have been inexorably intertwined for the past twelve years. Twilight Princess might have been the triumphant return to epic Zelda people hyped it up for, if it came out when it was originally planned to on the Gamecube and didn't have a brand new HD console gen to compete with. If you don't believe me, go look up the infamous 8.8 review by Gertsmann. The sticking point that made people froth at him was his direct comparisons between it and Oblivion.

Arbiter's Grounds > Snowpeak Ruins > City In The Sky > Lakebed Temple > Temple of Time > Goron Mines > Hyrule Castle > Palace of Twilight > Forest Temple

You know what I hate about Twilight Princess? It's music audio quality is horrible. It sounds like it's from the N64. I'm not talking about composition. Those are fine. I'm talking about the actual soundboard. Wind Waker's music actually sounded better, and it's older.

It's all still MIDI so...yes?

I fucking love open air dungeons like Snowpeak and City in the Sky.
Snowpeak easily fits in as a Soulsborne level too, before Souls game even existed.
