The point of the reincarnation was to show how the new generation has improved on the old. While Hashirama and Madara barely unified and still killed each other, Naruto managed to talk down all of his enemies and took care of Sasuke without attempting to kill him. When it's revealed Sasuke is Madara 2.0 and Naruto is Hashirama 2.0, this is to highlight the differences, but people who can't write look at it and think "Man, I thought this was an underdog story!"
