I still don't understand why they removed the mako from mass effect
probably because it played like ass outside of speeding you up, after the first time it was always better to get out and snip geth, as you'd have better accuracy and do more damage.
only played the first ME, does it not come back after that?
>kino
kys
Me2 has this hovertank thing instead except it has no armor and isn’t fun to drive. Me:A had a vehicle that handled like a mako with non-fucked physics but no guns so it was boring.

Did you REALLY fall for "Halo is bad!" meme, OP? You should have known better.
People were too stupid to know that there was both a machine gun and a cannon
>make armored military vehicle
>put heavy super soldier in it
>still flips and bounces like it's a go kart
That's part of the fun. It's especially terrible in CE too. Go into a custom and make two warthogs have a head on collision. Hilarity ensues.
I just want it fixed and the best it can be, user
>playing this in co-op with your brother, constantly having to start over because you keep killing each other over who gets to drive
Those were golden times.
Fixed? What's wrong with it other than the same shit that was wrong with Randy's port? The only campaign issue I've run into is the plasma pistol sound playing incorrectly. This feels a lot more solid than Reach did, but I also like this game more so I guess I could be overlooking stuff. The Anniversary graphics are mostly nice for me.
Why did the Pillar of Autumn have a massive roller coaster like race track inside it?
Video games, son.
Well besides the Gearbox shit fixed, the co-op netcode is still a bit shite, achievements are basically broken, there's audio bugs here and there like sped-up music or the broken loop sounds on various things, as well as 3D audio apparently being a bit fucky, and other weird bits. Not to mention the cutscene and vehicle interpolation is broken.

fuck "rip and tear" redditors
>tfw you can imagine up reasons for it having the track that might not be realistic, but are cool
i miss when games just did shit to be fun to play and then left the reasons why vague enough to daydream about
and a zoom mechanic
I swear no one uses that
>this part was fucking cinema
Shut the fuck up and go back to Yas Forums you stupid fucking retard
zoom zoom
>2020
>still no FPS on console that has good aim assist like halo
it's absurd, only halo feels good to play with a controla
>underage tard uses latest forced meme as well

>Echo 4-19!
>Echo 4-19!

>She's gone.
Halo was tailor made for controllers by people that had to improvise every step of the way with their first two games but had a surprisingly competent understanding of how to work with their limits in mind, honestly. All the other "Halo killers" fucked up even basic game feel by comparison, and I say this as someone that admires Killzone's effort, just not the execution.
Why is Halo music so fucking kino? No other Sci-Fi series has thos kind of music at all. It's just the same generic crap with no soul.

I would quite often replay Silent Cartographer and AOTCR, such great levels.
The entire level was also longer than the Pillar of Autumn's canon length.
But who cares, shit's fun.
>Magnet aim assist that aniihilates keyboard/mouse players
>good
Battlefield/Call of Duty is still best for me
But i think aim assist is for little bitches, usually i turn that shit off
Made by people who actually cared.
Personally I hated Halo 2,3. Liked ODST becuase it felt more like CE. Reach was ok but I didn't get very far.
Are you talking about hating the music in 2 and 3? Because fuck you the music in those games were fantastic.
Halo's ending sequence remains one of the most memorable parts of a game I've ever played to this day. More games need exciting climaxes that actually revolve around you doing something gameplay-wise like this.
What are your favorite moments in the original Halo campaign?
Oh I mean the whole games. 2 I fucking hated the gameplay, didn't feel like Halo, 3 attempts to recapture the magic but the big sequences are so forced.
That Halo 2 trailer with the ships digging up the forerunner thing got me so hyped but I just felt disappointed with the game. And to think I would browse halo.bungie.org every fucking day.
when it was over so I could play it again
The flood reveal.
I don't either. The Mako was a good ATV that got you from A-B without being difficult to drive. The Hammerhead played like absolute dogshit and I have no idea why people say that dildo on rockets is better than the Mako.
What about The Library, Two Betrayals, and Keyes?
Truth and Reconciliation
The Silent Cartographer
^ This is a peak. Assault on the Control Room is also pretty good. 343 Guilty Spark and The Library are a valley (still enjoyable but certainly more tedious years later. The Library's level design is mind numbing.) and then it peaks again at Keyes and then The Maw is a perfect way to end a game.
>The Mako was a good ATV
>press jump on hill
>go diagonally up and land at the bottom
pretty fucking dumb how did it land straight if it can't stabilise itself
>3 attempts to recapture the magic but the big sequences are so forced.
explain this
I haven't played the game in 15 years. All I remember is the flood reveal, the last part where you have to jump to a drop ship with the warthog, that one part with the scorpion tank and the long as fuck bridge. I don't know what missions were called.
I totally agree with you. Halo 2 kind of killed my enthusiasm for Halo for such a long time because I found it to be downgrade to Halo 1 in every way except maybe the multiplayer. Halo CE is something special.
it wasn't perfect but it gave such an awesome scale to the missions, on feros driving long distances by massive skyscrapers on the highways above the clouds was such a great moment.
I found exploring the other planets to be fun. I wish they tried to improve it instead of ripping it out
I didn't like the Covenant ship levels, felt much more at home in the wide spaces.
Halo is a boring level because of all the pointless driving but the parts where you can make choices about how to take each location are great.
Silent Cartographer you do each part of the level in order but you still have this freedom to just fuck around if you want.
AOTCR tight spaces that all look the same gets annoying but the open battles on the ice where you get to choose what you want to do is what made the game fun imo.
What's the verdict on Lumoria, the fan made campaign for CE?
It's even better when you go in completely blind not knowing a thing about Halo.
>The abrupt shift in tone
>The sterile environments
>Going down the elevator and realizing it's fucking covered in covenant blood
>Halo 2 autist
>I found it to be downgrade to Halo 1 in every way
Can you explain why?
The hammerhead's level in two was insulting, someone who never played 1 must have designed it. They missed out on what made the mako a blast and what it added to the original
>big scarab fight
>DUN DUN DUN DUUUUUN music
>soldiers driving around jankily firing rockets from ATVs
also later on attacking the island in the tiny helicopter things, nothing really plays smoothly or looks right
>teabagging
[user was banned for unsportsmanlike conduct]
Besides The Flood, what were the other kino moments in the campaign?
>What's wrong with it other than the primary things that are wrong with it and should've been fixed?
>soldiers driving around jankily firing rockets from ATVs
what's wrong with this
CE just has this special feeling to it that none of the others could match.
I prefer 3 overall, but there's something about CE that I'm drawn to.
I wish I was better at conveying my thoughts and feelings on this matter.
You're right, I forgot the achievements being all out of order. I was getting achievements for levels I hadn't even played yet in campaign, that's true.
Never heard of it, is it a unique story?
How the fuck have you never played Halo before?
Fully agreed.
Halo 2 had shitty level design, bad guns like the SMG that were hyped up for their dual-wielding, a plot that felt more directionless and disjointed than the first game, and Brutes were anti-fun to fight, especially the shitty boss fight at the end. And then it ends with a cliffhanger for Halo 3 whereas 1 actually had a mostly satisfying ending.
I can't give you a justification I just really liked CE and the other games never hit the spot except ODST which actually feels polished.
Maybe it would have been better if Bungie hadn't been under so much pressure from Microsoft and they took a bit more time to refine the sequels singleplayer, rather than so much focus on Multi to push Xbox Live.
Not him, but
>Shotgun and magnum don't feel as satisfying as the last game
>It feels too easy to get sniped after a while
>Mistiming melee feels a bit more unforgiving with instadeath
>Arenas can sometimes feel smaller than Halo 1, even though there's still plenty of arenas with wide enough spaces on par with CE.
>Arbiter's story isn't bad and I had fun with his cloak ability, the only problem I have is that most of his levels are kind of boring visually and in terms of moving around compared to chiefs
I still had fun with it, but there are some nitpicks I had with it. I guess you could also say CE had the issue of backtracking through levels in reverse order.
Were each of CE's missions iconic and memorable?
>more directionless and disjointed
Are you fucking dumb? Holy shit I have a really strong suspicion that you're the Halo 2 autist.
When you first land on Halo and the covenant is immediately on your ass.
And of course the Flood build up + reveal. Playing it as a kid it blew my mind that a generic shooter suddenly turns into some horror game.
Not the biggest fan of the flood as a gameplay function in CE. They're better in 3
>har har I'm such a pro look at me with my l33t skillz
nobody cares nigger, shooters were a meme on console before halo and they will still be a meme after halo
>Halo 2 had shitty level design
The first level where you're getting sniped by jackals in a fucking rainforest, I thought what the fuck is this. and the bug swarms, what the fuck were they thinking?
Gearbox port had no issues. Stop eating ecelebs' shit and parroting it.
>a plot that felt more directionless and disjointed than the first game
What makes you say that?
>Everyone who dislikes Halo 2 is one person even though there are at least three of them in this thread
Nice argument, faggot. I don't even know who you're talking about.
>Gearbox port had no issues
It's perfectly playable but fuck off if you're gonna pretend they didn't fuck over most of the effects and visuals in some way or another
Not him but I couldn't hear what the fuck anyone was saying in cutscenes over the music
Oh my god I missed this thing being useful so fucking much.
Why did they nerf it in literally every single game afterwards?
I find that it is fun exploring CE, these aliens chasing you down, coming across and fighting through a alien structure, discovering these space zombie things, then blowing it all up
Half of them were.
>the flood gets revealed
>immediately go from spooky to just annoying piece of shit enemy
>they are there for the rest of the campaign
whoever designed "the library" can go fuck a duck, he can go fuck all the ducks
There was literally one dude at Bungie who designed the controls. He spent, I think it was said, over 3000 hours fine tuning the aim assist, bullet magnetism, look acceleration, etc. to make a 25-30FPS console shooter feel buttery smooth like 120FPS KB+M.
mmm it never looked right after playing on a small CRT TV 10 feet away from me for years
