Or games or good combat systems or stealth or shooting ? Seriously. I don't get it. I DON'T GET IT. Japanese devs have had a lot of sword/melee/horror games and even invented soulslike yet they act like they're making first year school projects while games like The Surge and Dead Space are masterclass and have half the budget. The problem with Eastern devs and bosses came to a head with the Metal Gear franchise. "Why do you need a good game if waifus and weeb consoomers will buy anyway ? How much anime tropes and over the top dialogues, action and storyline can we fit in ?"... Jesus christ, eastern devs.
Just played and beat Dark Souls saga for my first time. The bugged or bad animations, the gimmick bosses like Bed and Capra demon or Wolnir and Tree, the overly strong shield or i-frames, the abusability of the backstab and stamina regeneration and poor controls and framerate for areas like blighttown really kill the experience. Even despite how good the art direction was, it's difficulty not to notice.
So to figure this out, I've included the four horsemen of the eastern dev apocalypse. The four games that are a reflection of eastern design as a whole.
>MGS (1-2-..) Even more of a sad case. Convoluted stories from a pretentious writing that can't distinguish meaningful and deep from ridicolous and overdramatic. Gameplay is a mish mesh of western successful titles, the franchise goes from plagiarizing Castle Wolfenstein stealth to first person action adventure games with more action oriented sequels, culminating to corridor shooter tps style games with 4 before changing again to Ubisoft-like Open world games after the boom of the genre after the early 2010's. Hitman and Splinter Cell have always been superior.
>Dark Souls (1-2-3) Seriously, they are so copy and paste between each other that balance and spells requirements is the biggest change between two. Most of the boss fights do a 5 hit combo that you dodge/block and then let you do 1-2 swings, with the occasional parry. They market it all about how hard for the general audience is when the hardest challenge in Dark Souls was finding all the stuff within the Great Hollow. It's biggest strongpoint is copying from the works of a western author called Lovecraft.
>Death Stranding Again, boring mechanics with a convoluted and uninteresting story. So much for worldbuilding and art direction goes to waste because of the lack of creative ideas regarding gameplay, combat and stealth. Just like the two games before, a good looking but rotten inside game.
>RE (4-5-6-Racoon City-..[Comparable ots cam games]) I don't know why Japanese devs think these are horror games. They are actually shooters with some ridiculously easy puzzles. The only thing coming close is REmake 2, but even as action horror, it clearly can't reach the depth of Dead Space shooting and melee mechanics and gets completely demolished in a direct comparison.
I know this is a parody of that other thread, but why does Yas Forums unironically do this type of stuff so much? Do people here really think that silly strawman analysis like this is clever?
At this point, I legimate think this threads are being made by someone false flagging as a weeb whos trying to make this whole board hate weebs just as much as he does.
There are 3 kinds of posters that post in these threads.
Genuine retards who fall for this repetitive bait. Genuine retards who are amused by other retards falling for this repetitive bait. Bots being trained by participating in repetitive threads.

Shush you western fool, don't you know that Kojimbo, le Steve Jobs de Japon, invented Cameras
>OH NO YOU NEED TO PRESS A BUTTON !??!? Imagine trying to bash old-GOW because it literally has a Sekiro-like killblow animation you dishonest weebfuck
Jason Anderson
what games before MGS1 had cameras on then?
Leo Brown
Mario 64
Ryan Cruz

Grayson Gutierrez
Yes it is
Isaiah Roberts
no thats a videotaper pic related is a camera, it takes pictures
the videotaper in mario 64 is used to take videos completly diferent machine used to completly diferent purposes
>Completely different machine This much cope Yeah, that's what I always found to be funny. A minimal part of Jap games, of very specific genres (horror and rpg), manages to stand out, and those are usually heavily inspired by western games
John Taylor
Nice cherrypicking
Henry Mitchell
is it realy cherrypicking if i can do this to eveyr single year up until 1993?
>IF YOU SHOOT A GUN IT'S THE SAME GAME >Meanwhile look at this totally innovative Japanese KINO game with oversized swords, generic protagonist with strange haircut, what's its name, Devil My Cry ? Or was it Final Fantasy ? Monster Hunter ? >No wait I think it was Code Vein >agh cmon help me remember, it had guys fighting each other, a lot of nips >You mean Dead or Alive ? TEKKEN ? SOUL CALIBUR, YAKUZA ? How could the vidya indistry cope without its monthly hack n slash/2d fighting/soulslike japanese games. Truly the pinnacle of innovation and creativity.
Luis Sullivan
you sound mad user did i just broke your world view?
>Sekiro finisher >Press button shit dies >GoW finisher >Do 2-3 QTEs and mash circle like a chimp
Noah Garcia
You fags need to learn to stop fellating certain countries and just enjoy vidya for fuck’s sake.
Hudson Campbell
Technically, you can use a motorbike, robot arms that can stop time, ice nunchucks, double missile launchers, and a hat as weapons in DMC5.
Luis Anderson
I, for one, can't wait to see how innovative for the industry FF 24, Soul Calibur 9 and Tekken 12 will be. >0 arguments >y-you sound mad Kek >Look at 2017 Let me see the nippon LUDO KINO >Action rpg with nimble teenage looking protagonists >Action rpg with nimble teenage looking protagonists >Action rpg with nimble teenage looking protagonist >Mario Yup, Japon does it again guys, breaking the limits of human intellect and creativity
Looks like GOW is better because it takes actual effort and quick reflexes to deliver a deathblow I bet you're one of the scrubs who got filtered by the final Zeus QTE of GOW2
Jacob Bennett
>Persona 5 >Breath of the Wild >action RPGs
John Robinson
>Sword >Sword >Gundam >Sword Damn so innovative
Andrew Scott
>hand holding a gun >hand holding a gun >hand holding a gun >hand holding a gun
Indeed, all those guns of these totally absolutely similar games that all play the same are tiresome, that's why I can't wait for some kino small teenage protagonist with huge sword so I can expand my library with some never-seen-before jrpg mechanics
>Still can't find anything different than Zelda, Mario and Hack n Slash >Needs to dig up a game from 2013 for a cheap Forza ripoff that died long ago and was finally buried with Sports, after even deleating the date because otherwise he can't cherrypick games from a decade ago TOP KEK Sounds like it was not my worldview that was broken here
>Purposefully tries to cherrypick specifically war shooters >Still puts Halo and Gunslinger, both demolish any shitty japanese cringelord power fantasy
>4 as IIII >CDPR is Japanese Yep, all those numbers popping out after any hit in all of those "varied" japanese games finally fried his brain Post it again mate, thx for bumping
