any tips for newcomers? I tried the scissor woman twice n free play(?) and all my playthroughs have ended with me not being able to finish the ritual or fucking up some random encounter thus fucking up the whole thing.
Should I gear up before I start a investigation? Should i try to fight everything at the beginning?

Find a weapon or buy one, get the money from the changing clothes part of your home, get free painkiller on doctor's office shelves in the hospital and you're done for the basic stuff;
Then go beat up everything not of high HP, those you run away, if you have the no-run god, you're fucked.

You unlock the Illegal Den by completing 25 achievements. You'll unlock the Town History option first with 10 achievements and you'll need to use it at the start of a run to enable the Illegal Den in the Seaside location. The Illegal Den is also where you go after using the Prescription at the Pharmacy to recruit the Rioter.

Spells are free actions.

This reminds me so much of the Junji Ito manga with the tall neighbor lady.

I've only learned spells once in one session and every other time I've tried to keep as plain jane as I can but it still rapes me. Is there some way to get reason back during investigations that I'm missing? How do you get by with strength based characters? With enough DEX you can dodge/prep/attack to get out of most encounters fine. STR runs on the other hand feel like I have to fill up the entire bar with one attack that has a low chance to hit even with several points added to STR, and the damage I take just whittles me down

You suffer until you level up and can start putting points into Dex. The combats a bit lopsided in that you run Dex and you just win, or you run anything else and you suffer hard.

Rest at home +2 sta / rea +4% doom

Forgetting a spell gives you 1 reason, if you're a pansy you can rest at home.

Oh yeah, I didn't plan on spamming it, I just have lost on what I think is the last fight or close to it in my investigations, and it's kind of frustrating being one turn away from not going nuts only to get pushed slightly too hard and going bonkers.

Fuck this i was wrappimg up the 4th mistery at 31% doom and the only one left was the scissors one and it fucking crashed.

Note that there's a bonus for finishing an investigation without resting, you get a free 1 STA, 1 REA, so only use this option if you really have to to conclude the current mystery.
