adventure 1 and 2 are good games. Not fucking perfect and devoid of issues, but good video games with all three gameplay styles in mind and not just sonic. I don't understand why this is such a controversial take

Sonic Lost World had a lot of interesting ideas, even if they didn't all work out.

The problem was, Sonic '06 happened, and people realized it wasn't only the game being bad but also the wool being pulled from over their eyes by the way Sonic's janky 3D level design clashed with HD graphics. In reality, the Adventure series was always just as terrible.

He has one of the greatest designs of all cartoon and video game characters, and has an impressive track record for typically great music. I think the thing that Sonic has over other 2D and 3D platformers is potential. There's so much potential for Sonic games, it's no wonder he was second fiddle to only literal Mr.Video Games himself for a while there. (And hell, in the Mega Drive days, Sonic beat Mario in Europe)

Despite all the shit the series gets now, no one can take away how impressive it was for literally-who the Hedgehog (at the time) to skyrocket to heights other platform characters besides Mario could only dream of.

Sonic games were always good (except maybe Shadow the Hedgehog which I still like) up until 06 and the only reason they get hate is because of the hivemind mentality that people developed from e-celebs. There also hasn't been a truly bad Sonic game since 06 except for Boom.

CD is a pretty neat game that thankfully has a refined, easily accessible, modern (well, 2011 modern anyway) port that turns it into a genuinely good title.

The fist game for MasteSystem/GameGear is one of the best art directed 8-bit games ever made. Music is killer too.

Sonic Adventure is dated, but enjoyable. Sonic Adventure 2 aged much better than people give it credit for. You are objectively wrong to not like Chaos.

Modern Sonic has been mostly good since Unleashed. Werehog is bearable, it's just average God of War clone.

Boost gameplay is just ok, I can't believe there are so many people shitting on it and also praising Sonic Rush as one of the best Sonic games when it literally introduced Boost.

Sonic and Eggman’s dynamic is instantly iconic and genius, almost on par with Tom and Jerry or Wile E Coyote and Roadrunner.

Eggman is man of science; someone who claims to have conquered nature, and has every aspect of his life under his complete control via technology.
His foil is a pure force of nature meant to contradict his futurist ideals. Sonic’s speed is an anomaly, and Eggman is driven up a wall, constantly trying to find an answer to Sonic’s speed, either by harnessing the power or replicating it (e.g. Metal Sonic)

Their relationship is a metaphor with Man’s relationship with Earth. No matter how much progress we make, nature will always be five steps ahead in the long term.

Eggman has been consistently fantastic in every cartoon and game that has featured him. Even the 06 version had some good moments.
